There are numerous reports on the rates of attrition among volunteers as a persistent challenge for organizations. In explaining volunteer attrition, researchers have predominantly: 1) provided an individualistic account of volunteering; 2) overlooked the interactional dimension of volunteer work and the crucial role of interpretation in its development; and 3) assumed commitment as a function of satisfaction with volunteering experience. Drawing on the theoretical insights of a symbolic interactionist approach, this article contends that volunteers’ role commitment hinges on their satisfaction with their interpretation of their interaction with clients, rather than the interaction itself. This perspective calls attention to the volunteer-client dyadic interaction, gives a prominent place to the social role and its definition, and draws attention to strategies used by volunteers to sustain challenging relationship with clients.

The RUBI Autism Network has developed and tested a structured parent training manual for children with autism spectrum disorder and disruptive behaviors. The manual is based on principles of applied behavior analysis and is designed for therapists to use with parents of children with autism spectrum disorder and co-occurring challenging behaviors, such as tantrums, noncompliance, difficulties with transitions, and aggression. A trained therapist utilizes the manual to guide the parent in applying techniques and tools to help manage the child’s challenging behaviors. The treatment includes 11 Core sessions, 7 Supplemental sessions, a home visit, and follow-up telephone booster sessions. Each of the sessions contains a therapist script, activity sheets, a parent handout, and treatment fidelity checklists. Additionally, accompanying each core session are video vignettes that the therapist uses to demonstrate concepts taught in the session. The videos include 30- to 60-second vignettes demonstrating common parenting mistakes as well as implementation (to varying degrees of success) of the strategies being taught. The treatment manual is designed to be delivered individually to parents in weekly outpatient visits. Parents are given homework assignments between sessions that focus on applying techniques to specific behaviors.

In the modern industrial world, effective role of maintenance activities in the survival of organizations and enhancing their productivity is undeniable.Variety of equipments in the industrial organizations and their exclusivities in terms of longevity and failures modes, clear the importance of choosing a strategy for the maintenance of any equipment. Thus, knowing the type of the failure is so important for maintenance manager and engineers.Important introduced indicators in this domain such as indicator of reliability, MTBF and MTTR can be used to predicting and detecting approximate failure time and analyzing life cycle status. On the other hand, due to fluctuating time of system availability because of work continuity and loss of a performance indicator, by combining RCM indicators and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) indicator the most compatible strategy could be chosen. The aim of this article which differs from other studies in this field is to apply a composed indicator, including different parameters of RCM, which is obtained based on the equipment life status.
