Internet of Things (IOT) is an essential paradigm where devices are interconnected into network. The operations of these devices can be through service-oriented software engineering (SOSE) principles for efficient service provision. SOSE is an important software development method for flexible, agile, loose-coupled, heterogeneous and interoperable applications. Despite all these benefits, its adoption for IOT services is slow due to security challenges. The security challenge of integration of IOT with service-oriented architecture (SOA) is man-in-the-middle attack on the messages exchanged. The transport layer security (TLS) creates a secured socket channel between the client and server. This is efficient in securing messages exchanged at the transport layer only. SOSE-based IOT systems needs an end-to-end security to handle its vulnerabilities. This integration enables interoperability of heterogeneous devices, but renders the system vulnerable to passive attacks. The confidentiality problem is hereby addressed by message level hybrid encryption. This is by encrypting the messages by AES for efficiency. However, to enable end-to-end security, the key sharing problem of advanced encryption standard (AES) is handled by RSA public key encryption. The results shows that this solution addressed data contents security and credentials security privacy issues. Furthermore, the solution enables end-to- end security of interaction in SOSE-based IOT systems.

This article focuses on the need for improvement in product lifecycle management (PLM) interoperation. PLM interoperation would allow companies to work with the best tools for its business and not be limited in communicating with customers and suppliers. PLM systems are getting a fresh look and one should expect to see more of the type now often called end-to-end open systems. The secret is the middleware, dubbed service-oriented architecture (SOA), which links all these applications in an interconnected web. IBM introduced plans for its Product Development Integration Framework, which will tie all business applications via SOA to create an end-to-end, open PLM system. The company is also marketing an enterprise service bus that can loosely couple its own business applications with other applications, which will then operate on the system. According to an expert, by linking research to engineering, Samsung’s products could hit the market quicker than if the two functions worked separately, and products could be designed in ways that had only just been conceptualized.

Cloud computing has many advantages and is being used increasingly as an efficient and safe solution for web based services. This on-demnd self-service provides network access to a shared pooi of redundant computing resources. Software applications are being developed in the cloud and there are demands for the interoperability of these applications. A common way to meet this demand is the development of Web services (applications), taking advantage of Service-oriented architecture principles. These loosely coupled Web base components pose some security challenges. This paper examines Security as a Service (SECaaS) solutions, as well to propose a new approach to security management in the cloud.

Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) uses a structural approach to create services which can be reused and shared. SOA provides agility and cost saving in software development, transforming vertical applications to various software components, which can be reused in applications. Cloud computing expands the software service accessibility and usage via Web services. To move successfully into cloud computing, an architecture supporting the cloud capabilities is needed. The cloud provides a good platform for deploying Web services based on SOA. Customer satisfaction, improved collaboration, enhanced end-to-end user security and end-user authentication, and business growth are some long term benefits supported by modern technologies in both of cloud computing and SOA. The objective of the paper is to study the effective process and effort required to design and implement a SOA based system development methodology and applying it to construct a u-Healthcare system to provide healthcare services including accessing medical records of patients on a universal end-to-end basis.
