In this paper, a non-mechanical axial zoom scanning method based on a phase only liquid crystal spatial light modulator is proposed. This novel method is to overcome the measurement error caused by moving mechanical parts in the axial mechanical scanning methods in the confocal microscopy system. The modulation on the incident wave front is completed by a spatial light modulator, which provides this scanning method some outstanding advantages including the flexibility of control and the absence of moving mechanical parts, especially suitable for the fixed sample imaging occasions. By simulating the multiple Fresnel lens with LCSLM to generate controllable multi-focal points and thus realizing this method of axial multi-focus scanning to enhance the axial scanning efficiency and the range. Simulations and experiments on the axial scanning features of the axial multi-focus zoom scanning method are carried out. Results of simulations and experiments indicate that non-mechanical axial zoom scanning can be realized with the use of a spatial light modulator in the confocal microscopy system.

Wearing gears with complex tooth surface are difficult to repair. A test method of laser cladding was made to repair the damaged gears which were made by steel 45, with synchronous powder feeding and gear axial scanning method, and Ni45 powder as cladding material. The relative position of laser beam and the gear surface were designed to solve the interference problems in laser cladding process. It analyzed the morphology of the cladding layer in the different test conditions to get optimum parameters, and determined the cladding thickness and overlapping ratio, and optimal sequence by made a comparison of cladding quality in different condition. Microscopic metallographic analysis and hardness testing were made for the cladding layer to analyze the performance of cladding layer. Got high strength cladding layer on damaged gears tooth surfaces. Laser cladding method can repair the gear surfaces and raise the wear resistance.

Finely focused beams extracted from liquid metal ion sources (LMIS) provide a wealth of secondary signals which can be exploited to create high resolution images by the scanning method. The images of scanning ion microscopy (SIM) encompass a variety of contrast mechanisms which we classify into two broad categories: a) Emission contrast and b) Analytical contrast.Emission contrast refers to those mechanisms inherent to the emission of secondaries by solids under ion bombardment. The contrast-carrying signals consist of ion-induced secondary electrons (ISE) and secondary ions (ISI). Both signals exhibit i) topographic emission contrast due to the existence of differential geometric emission and collection effects, ii) crystallographic emission contrast, due to primary ion channeling phenomena and differential oxidation of crystalline surfaces, iii) chemical emission or Z-contrast, related to the dependence of the secondary emission yields on the Z and surface chemical state of the target.
