ABSTRACT We report here the complete genome sequence of Vibrio campbellii, isolated from Penaeus vannamei cultured in a Latin American country. The Tn3-like transposon and pirAB genes were encoded on the plasmid pLA16-2. These data support the geographical variations in the virulence plasmid found among acute hepatopancreatic necrosis disease (AHPND)-causing Vibrio isolates from Latin America and Asia.

ABSTRACT The acute hepatopancreatic necrosis disease (AHPND) of Penaeus vannamei shrimp is caused by Vibrio parahaemolyticus carrying toxin genes, pirA and pirB. We report the complete genome sequence of the novel V. parahaemolyticus strain R14, which did not display AHPND symptoms in P. vannamei despite containing the binary toxin genes.

Here, we present the complete genome sequence of a Shewanella isolate, TH2012, from a shrimp pond in which shrimp exhibited early mortality syndrome (EMS)/acute hepatopancreatic necrosis disease (AHPND). The complete genome of TH2012 has a prophage-like element and a number of potential virulence factors, making TH2012 a possible contributing factor to EMS outbreaks.

We present the complete genome sequence of Vibrio campbellii DS40M4, assembled from Illumina and Oxford Nanopore data. This effort improves upon a previous draft assembly to resolve this organism’s two-chromosome and one-plasmid genetic structure and to provide valuable context for evaluating the gene arrangement and evolution of this species.

Malassezia restricta, one of the predominant basidiomycetous yeasts present on human skin, is involved in scalp disorders. Here, we report the complete genome sequence of the lipophilic Malassezia restricta CBS 7877 strain, which will facilitate the study of the mechanisms underlying its commensal and pathogenic roles within the skin microbiome.

The hydrogen-utilizing strain Cupriavidus necator H16 (DSM 428) was sequenced using a combination of PacBio and Illumina sequencing. Annotation of this strain reveals 6,543 protein-coding genes, 263 pseudogenes, 64 tRNA genes, and 15 rRNA genes.

Stenotrophomonas maltophilia is an emerging opportunistic human pathogen. In this report, we describe the isolation and genomic annotation of the S. maltophilia-infecting bacteriophage Mendera. A myophage of 159,961 base pairs, Mendera is T4-like and related most closely to Stenotrophomonas phage IME-SM1.

ABSTRACT Mycobacterium chimaera is a nontuberculous mycobacterium species commonly found in the environment. Here, we report the first complete genome sequence of a strain from the investigation of invasive infections following open-heart surgeries that used contaminated LivaNova Sorin Stockert 3T heater-cooler devices.

ABSTRACT Here we report the complete genome sequence of Streptococcus agalactiae strain 874391. This serotype III isolate is a member of the hypervirulent sequence type 17 (ST-17) lineage that causes a disproportionate number of cases of invasive disease in humans and mammals. A brief historical context of the strain is discussed.

Bacillus subtilis WB800N is a genetically engineered variant of B. subtilis 168, such that all extracellular proteases are disrupted, which enables WB800N to be widely used for the expression of secretory proteins. Here, we report the 4.2-Mb complete genome sequence of WB800N and present all of the disrupted gene structure.
