Pectobacterium carotovorum subsp. brasiliense causes soft rot and blackleg diseases on potatoes, ornamentals, and other crops of economic importance. Here, we report a draft genome sequence of a highly virulent P. carotovorum subsp. brasiliense strain, PcbHPI01, isolated from a cucumber in South Africa.

Pectobacterium carotovorum subsp. carotovorum ATCC 39048 was originally isolated in the 1980s and studied because it produced the β-lactam antibiotic 1-carbapen-2-em-3-carboxylic acid.

Alternaria alternata (Fr.) Keissler strain PPRI 21032 was isolated from onion leaves collected in Roodeplaat, Pretoria, South Africa. The whole genome of this strain was sequenced and produced a total of 33.12 Mb with a GC content of 50.9%. The whole genome comprises 11,701 predicted coding sequences.

ABSTRACT We describe here the draft genome sequence of a Mycobacterium goodii isolate from a pediatric patient in Western Cape, South Africa. To our knowledge, this is the second reported genome of this rapidly growing nontuberculous mycobacterial species.

Here, we report the draft whole-genome sequence of Streptococcus suis strain S10, isolated from the tonsils of a healthy pig. S. suis S10 belongs to the highly virulent serotype 2, which includes isolates that cause infectious diseases, including meningitis, in pigs and human.

The saprotrophic soft-rot fungus Xylaria longipes was isolated from deadwood of Acer pseudoplatanus collected in the Bavarian Forest, Germany. The whole genome of this strain (DSM 107183) was sequenced with a total size of 43.2 Mb and a G+C content of 48.5%.

ABSTRACT We report here the draft genome sequence of the soil bacterium Gordonia lacunae BS2T (= DSM 45085T = JCM 14873T = NRRL B-24551T), isolated from an estuary in Plettenberg Bay, South Africa. Analysis of the draft genome revealed that more than 40% of the secondary metabolite biosynthetic genes encode new compounds.
