В 2015 г. The metals content in Sargassum from the southern area of the Far Eastern Marine Biosphere Reserve in 2015 were studied. Metals in macrophytes are found mainly in concentrations of the background range. Long-term observations of macrophytes (1987, 1996, 1998, 2008 and 2015) have shown that Cu, Zn, Cd concentrations in algae are currently decreasing compared to the period 19961998, probably due to the dynamics of global air transport of pollutants.

Indicators of humus state and catalase activity were determined in the soils of the Far Eastern marine reserve. The average humus content was exposed for the dark humus burozem and the dark humus soil, formed on buried burozem. The distribution of humus in the profile is estimated as gradually decreasing, the humus reserves in the 20 cm layer are characterized as very high and high. Variation of the typical humus composition and humification index differs in the studied soils. "Free" fractions predominate in the composition of humic acids, their proportion reaching high and very high values. The surface horizons of soils are characterized by poor and very poor catalase enrichment. The morphological shape of the profile and the parameters of the humus state of the studied soils of the far Eastern marine reserve confirm the previously obtained data on climate changes and ocean transgression in the South-Western part of the Pacific coast of the region in the Holocene.

AbstractA new breeding site of the globally threatened Chinese egret Egretta eulophotes was recorded on Furugelm Island in the summer of 1998. The discovery of this colony moves the breeding limit of the species more than 600 km further to the north-east in the Sea of Japan. Thirty to forty pairs of Chinese egrets were discovered on the island, which is also home to thousands of colonial seabirds as well. The egret's colony is within the Far-Eastern Marine Reserve but some of its main foraging sites lie outside the protected area and are disturbed by both tourists and hunters. More worryingly, however, the main threat to the Chinese egret's survival is a new economic development project: the Tumen River Area Development Program. We make an urgent plea for the protection of the Chinese egrets' foraging areas within the Far-Eastern Marine Reserve and recommend that a transfrontier reserve be created to enhance the protection of this important waterbird site.

Some of biological traits of the Far Eastern sea cucumber from the Severnaya Bay were examined in 2016 and 2017. Body length of sea cucumber individuals varied from 3.6 to 23.4 cm. Dermo-muscular bag weight was higher in 2017 (137.5 g). Individual ages were 1–4 years in 2016 and 1–5 years in 2017. Sex ratio was near 1:1 in 2016 and 2017. During the period of the research gonad index was maximal in June – 10.6%. Spawning began in the 2nd decade of June and finished in the 2nd decade of July.

The experience of using the culture of Arthrospira (Spirulina) platensis as an additive to feed when growing juveniles of the Far Eastern sea cucumber in aquarium conditions is described. The experimental food ration included live culture of spirulina, macroalgae, protein and stimulant supplements. There were no significant differences in the survival rates of individuals (experiment – 69.5%, control – 65.7%). The greatest increase in the mass of individuals was observed in the experimental container - by an average of 0.047 g. In the control group - an average of 0.009 g.
