Abstract Nonleptonic and semileptonic decay widths of $${\Lambda _b} \rightarrow {\Lambda _c}$$Λb→Λc are analyzed within heavy quark limit and Isgur-Wise formalism. A modified QCD Cornell interaction with the additional logarithmic term in the hyperspherical coordinates is considered and the masses of heavy flavour baryons are calculated. The obtained masses are consequently employed to study the rates of $${\Lambda _b} \rightarrow {\Lambda _c}$$Λb→Λc. The achieved results are motivating.

A model of the heavy meson, composed of constituent quarks, is considered. It allows one to calculate the semileptonic decay widths of B→D(*)eν and to extract the Kobayashi—Maskawa matrix element |Vbc|=0.033±0.003 from experimental data. The infinitely heavy quark limit is discussed.

The hybrid meson is one of the most interesting new hadron species beyond the naive quark model. It acquire great attention both from the theoretical and experimental efforts. Many good candidates have been claimed to be observed, but there is no absolute confirmation about the existence of hybrid mesons. In the present work we propose new calculations of the masses and decay widths of the hybrid mesons in the context of constituent gluon model.

Using SU(3) and the nonrelativistic quark model, the masses and the strong hadronic decays of heavy baryons are discussed. A number of results for the decay widths are obtained using the present experimental data as input.

The heavy diquark symmetry (HDS) of doubly heavy baryons (DHBs) provides new insights into the spectroscopy of these hadrons. We derive the consequences of this symmetry for the mass spectra and the decay widths of DHBs. We compare these symmetry constraints to results from a nonrelativistic quark model for the mass spectra and results from the 3P0 model for strong decays. The quark model we implement was not constructed with these symmetries and contains interactions which explicitly break HDS. Nevertheless these symmetries emerge. We argue that the 3P0 model and any other model for strong transitions which employs a spectator assumption explicitly respects HDS. We also explore the possibility of treating the strange quark as a heavy quark and apply these ideas to Ξ, Ξc and Ξb baryons.

As heavy baryon ΛQ (Q=b or c) consists of a heavy quark and a scalar light diquark, we establish the Bethe-Salpeter (B-S) equation for ΛQ in the heavy quark limit. With the reasonable kernel we solve the B-S equation numerically and calculate the Isgur-Wise function as Λb→Λc.

Light and heavy pentaquarks are described within a constituent quark model based on a spin-flavor hyperfine interaction. In this model the lowest state acquires positive parity. The masses of the light antidecuplet members are calculated dynamically using a variational method. It is shown that the octet and antidecuplet states with the same quantum numbers mix ideally due to SU (3)F breaking. Masses of the charmed antisextet pentaquarks are predicted within the same model.
