Two photon decay widths of the JP = O+ scalar mesons a0(980), f0(980), f0(1370) and χc0 are calculated in a covariant model which is characterized by the quark–antiquark structure. Previously such models were used to calculate current form factors. Here a different application is tried. A simple version of the model uses adjusted nonrelativistic model parameters with small quark masses. The results seem to prefer nonideal mixing of f0(980) and f0(1370). The calculated decay rate of χc0 agrees with the experimental results.

AbstractThe two-photon decay widths of scalar mesons σ(600), f 0(980) and a 0(980) as well a 0 → ju(ω)γ and f 0 → ju(ω)γ are calculated in the framework of the local Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model. The contributions of the quark loops (Hartree-Fock approximation) and the meson loops (next 1/N c-approximation where N c is the number of colors) are taken into account. The values of these contributions, as we show, are of the same order of magnitude. For the f 0 decay the K-loop contribution plays the dominant role. The results for two-gamma decays are in satisfactory agreement with modern experimental data. The predictions for a 0 → ju(ω)γ and f 0 → ju(ω)γ widths are given.

Abstract We have corrected the decay width for the two photon decay widths for scalar and pseudo-scalar Charmonium in [Chinese Physics C Vol.44,No.8(2020)083108]. The decay widths are now in better agreement with the experiment values.

Scalar mesons are a key expression of the infrared regime of QCD. The lightest of these is the σ. Now that its pole in the complex energy plane has been precisely located, we can ask whether this state is transiently [Formula: see text] or [Formula: see text] or a multi-meson molecule or largely glue? The two-photon decay of the σ can, in principle, discriminate between these possibilities. We review here how the γγ → π+π-, π0π0 cross-sections can be accurately computed. The result not only agrees with experiment, but definitively fixes the radiative coupling of the σ. This equates to a two-photon width of (4.1 ± 0.3) keV, which accords with the simple nonrelativistic quark model expectation for a [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text] scalar. Nevertheless, robust predictions from relativistic strong coupling QCD are required for each of the possible compositions before we can be sure which one really delivers the determined γγ coupling.
