We derive a model-independent upper bound on the scale of Majorana-neutrino mass generation. The upper bound is [Formula: see text], where v ≃246 GeV is the weak scale and mν is the Majorana-neutrino mass. For neutrino masses implied by neutrino oscillation experiments, all but one of these bounds are less than the Planck scale, and they are all within a few orders of magnitude of the grand-unification scale.

AbstractWe consider the four neutrino oscillation that accommodate the all neutrino oscillation data. We consider the range of the corresponding mixing parameters by the result of neutrino oscillation experiments. Implicaion of the neutrino oscillation search for the neutrino mass square difference and mixing are discussed. We determine the possible values of the effective majorana neutrino mass $|<m>|=|{\sum }_{j}U_{ej}^{2}m_{j}|$ | < m > | = | ∑ j U e j 2 m j | in the four neutrino scenario. In the four-neutrino scheme there is an upper bound on | < m > | of the normal mass order is 2.0074eV for α = 0∘,β = 0∘andγ = 0∘. In the case of inverted mass order the upper bound on | < m > | is 2.0069eV for α = 0∘,β = 0∘andγ = 0∘.

In this short review we revisit the broad landscape of low-scaleSU(3)c⊗SU(2)L⊗U(1)Ymodels of neutrino mass generation, with view on their phenomenological potential. This includes signatures associated to direct neutrino mass messenger production at the LHC, as well as messenger-induced lepton flavor violation processes. We also briefly comment on the presence of WIMP cold dark matter candidates.

We examine the possibility of vanishing effective Majorana mass [Formula: see text] in the presence of one or two sterile neutrinos taking into account the recent data on neutrino masses and mixings, particularly, on [Formula: see text]. Also, within the framework of standard three active neutrinos, we find that effective Majorana mass [Formula: see text] can be vanishingly small if neutrino masses observe normal hierarchy. However, the same is not valid for inverted hierarchical neutrino masses. The predictions for Majorana phases [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] have also been obtained and shown as scatter plots. We also examine the condition [Formula: see text] within the framework wherein fermion sector has been extended by the addition of either one or two sterile neutrinos. The condition of vanishing effective Majorana mass is found to be inconsistent with the recent measurement of [Formula: see text] in these classes of models except for [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text] neutrino mass scheme for small values of the lightest neutrino mass, [Formula: see text].

We give some new insights into the effective Majorana neutrino mass [Formula: see text] responsible for the neutrinoless double-beta [Formula: see text] decays. We put forward a three-dimensional way of plotting [Formula: see text] against the lightest neutrino mass and the Majorana phases, which can provide more information as compared with the two-dimensional one. With the help of such graphs we discover a novel threshold of [Formula: see text] in terms of the neutrino masses and flavor mixing angles: [Formula: see text] in connection with [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text], which can be used to signify observability of the future [Formula: see text]-decay experiments. Fortunately, the possibility of [Formula: see text] turns out to be very small, promising a hopeful prospect for the [Formula: see text]-decay searches.

We propose a model for neutrino mass generation in which no physics beyond a TeV is required. We extend the standard model by adding two charged singlet fields with lepton number two. Dirac neutrino masses mνD ≤ MeV are generated at the one-loop level. Small left-handed Majorana neutrino masses can be generated via the seesaw mechanism with right-handed neutrino masses MR of order TeV scale.

AbstractWe propose a model-independent framework to classify and study neutrino mass models and their phenomenology. The idea is to introduce one particle beyond the Standard Model which couples to leptons and carries lepton number together with an operator which violates lepton number by two units and contains this particle. This allows to study processes which do not violate lepton number, while still working with an effective field theory. The contribution to neutrino masses translates to a robust upper bound on the mass of the new particle. We compare it to the stronger but less robust upper bound from Higgs naturalness and discuss several lower bounds. Our framework allows to classify neutrino mass models in just 20 categories, further reduced to 14 once nucleon decay limits are taken into account, and possibly to 9 if also Higgs naturalness considerations and direct searches are considered.

We study the neutrino mass generation in the [Formula: see text] electroweak extension of the Standard Model by considering nonrenormalizable dimension 5 effective operators. It is shown that there exist two topologies for the realizations of such an operator at the tree-level and for one of the three-family models the neutrino phenomenology is explored after extending its particle content with an [Formula: see text] fermion singlet and a scalar decuplet. Constraints in the available parameters space of the model are partially discussed.
