We review recent developments in QCD pertaining to its application to weak decays of heavy hadrons. We concentrate on exclusive rare and nonleptonic B-meson decays, discussing both the theoretical framework and phenomenological issues of current interest.

The two-body nonleptonic weak decays [Formula: see text], where [Formula: see text] is a narrow p-wave charm resonance, are investigated using the generalized factorization hypothesis along with the HQET. The estimated decay rates for these processes agree reasonably well with the current experimental values.

This article summarizes recent developments in B\to D^{(\ast)}\tau\nuB→D(*)τν decays. We explain how to extract the tau lepton’s production properties from the kinematics of its decay products. The focus is on hadronic tau decays, which are most sensitive to the tau polarizations. We present new results for effects of new physics in tau polarization observables and quantify the observation prospects at BELLE II.

Using SU(3) flavor symmetry of strong interactions, we have derived relations between the rates of B meson decays into (3/2)+ baryons and (3/2)+ antibaryons. The decays [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] have been observed. As more data become available, some of these relations may provide information on the importance of various competing effects involved in nonleptonic B meson decays.

We investigate [Formula: see text] decay in perturbative QCD approach which has recently been applied to B-meson decays. [Formula: see text] decay (and its charge conjugated mode) can be one of the hopeful modes to determine |Vub| since it occurs through b → u transition only. We estimate both factorizable and non-factorizable contribution, and show that the non-factorizable contribution is much less than the factorizable one. Our calculation gives [Formula: see text].
