The causality principle (CP) states that the cause can only be inside the past light cone of an effect. The principle is used in choosing retarded solutions to field equations and also in the Bogoliubov derivation of dispersion relations. However, using CP leads to the following problem: CP determines a “time arrow” in microphysics and shuts out other ways of explaining time irreversibility in Nature (based on statistical physics, cosmology, etc). It is shown that CP can be replaced by the condition that we consider only prediction problems, sometimes together with the use of a principle which is weaker than CP: the cause cannot be outside an effect’s light cones. The retrodiction problem and verification of CP in quantum mechanics are discussed.

Recently, we solved Einstein’s field equations to obtain the exact solution of the cosmological model with the Morris–Thorne-type wormhole. We found the apparent horizons and analyzed their geometric natures, including the causal structures. We also derived the Hawking temperature near the apparent cosmological horizon. In this paper, we investigate the dynamic properties of the apparent horizons under the matter-dominated universe and lambda-dominated universe. As a more realistic universe, we also adopt the [Formula: see text]CDM universe which contains both the matter and lambda. The past light cone and the particle horizon are examined for what happens in the case of the model with wormhole. Since the spatial coordinates of the spacetime with the wormhole are limited outside the throat, the past light cone can be operated by removing the smaller-than-wormhole region. The past light cones without wormhole begin to start earlier than the past light cones with wormhole in conformal time-proper distance coordinates. The light cone consists of two parts: the information from our universe and the information from other universe or far distant region through the wormhole. Therefore, the particle horizon distance determined from the observer’s past light cone cannot be defined in a unique way.

In crystal periodic structure prediction, a general equation is needed to determine the period vectors (cell edge vectors), especially when crystals are under arbitrary external stress. It has been derived in Newtonian dynamics years ago, which can be combined with quantum mechanics by further modeling. Here we derived such an equation in statistical physics, applicable to both classical physics and quantum physics by itself.

We study the problems of time consciousness from the standpoint of philosophy, physics and psychology; it is argued that such a sequence in the analysis of the problem allows us to reveal the actual psychological aspect of the problem of the objectivity of the consciousness of time, which is the goal of the study. Both the philosophical concepts of the time consciousness of I. Kant, E. Husserl and F. Brentano, and the physical theories of the study of time (quantum physics, cosmology, the physics of non-equilibrium processes) are analyzed. It has been established that in philosophical theories, the concepts: consciousness, memory, perception, representation, and others do not have clear definitions and can change their meaning depending on the context. It is emphasized that in physical and human sciences time is investigated, as a rule, in connection with the concept of “space”. It is shown that when analyzing the problem of the consciousness of time, one should first decide on the concept of “reality”, which allows us to remove contradictions in the understanding of time in various physical theories. It is concluded that the existence of both objective and subjective time can only be spoken when we operate with concepts; outside of this the concept of “time” has meaning only when a person is considered as part of society. It is shown that in relation to the collective and personal unconscious, the temporal modes of the "past", "present" and "future" do not make sense, since "the whole diversity of everything" is represented in the unconscious field simultaneously and extra-spatially.

Orthodox quantum mechanics has another implicit postulate stating that temporal and spatial frequencies of the Planck–Einstein and de Broglie formulas can only be linked with the infinite, in time and space, harmonic plane waves of Fourier analysis. From this assumption, nonlocality either in space and time follows directly. This is what is called Fourier Ontology. In order to build nonlinear causal and local quantum physics, it is necessary to reject Fourier ontology and accept that in certain cases a finite wave may have a well defined frequency. Now the mathematical tool to describe this new approach is wavelet local analysis. This more general nonlinear local and causal quantum physics, in the limit of the linear approximation, contains formally orthodox quantum mechanics as a particular case.

The 20th century has been a century of scientific revolutions for many disciplines: quantum mechanics in physics, the atomic approach in chemistry, the nonlinear revolution in mathematics, the introduction of statistical physics. The major breakthroughs in these disciplines had all occurred by about 1930. In contrast, the revolutions in the so–called natural sciences, that is in the earth sciences and in biology, waited until the last half of the century. These revolutions were indeed late, but they were no less deep and drastic, and they occurred quite suddenly. Actually, one can say that not one but three revolutions occurred in the earth sciences: in plate tectonics, planetology and the environment. They occurred essentially independently from each other, but as time passed, their effects developed, amplified and started interacting. These effects continue strongly to this day.
