The Bi(Pb)-Sr-Ca-Cu-O superconducting whisker has a composition of (BiPb) 2 × (SrCa) 3 Cu 2 O y and a layered single crystal structure in which the stacked layers with the same orientation have different widths. The longitudinal direction of the whiskers is along the a- or b-axis of the (BiPb) 2 (SrCa) 3 Cu 2 O y crystal. Crystal defects in the whiskers are mainly dislocations with Burgers vector of [010] or [001] and dislocation network. Some dislocation pairs with Burgers vector of [010] were observed in the bent whiskers.

A new diffraction pattern of the high-temperature and high-pressure polymorph Mg3(PO4)2-III (PDF 43-500) is given and indexed on the basis of a single-crystal structure refinement. It allows diffractogram indexing of the isostructural high-temperature and high-pressure form of Co3(PO4)2 (PDF 43-499).

Results of design and experimental studies of a nickel-based superalloy VZhL20 with a density of 8.04 g/cm3 for the manufacture of turbine blades with a columnar granular structure and a single-crystal structure are presented. It is shown that alloy VZHL20 with a single-crystal structure of the crystallographic orientation [001] in the heat-treated state possesses high phase stability, and enhanced short-term strength ( = 950 MPa, = 1130 MPa), and long-term strength ( = 340 MPa, = 185 MPa).
