The introduction of modern Smart Home Systems (SHSs) is redefining the way we perform everyday activities. Today, myriad SHS applications and the devices they control are widely available to users. Specifically, users can easily download and install the apps from vendor-specific app markets, or develop their own, to effectively implement their SHS solutions. However, despite their benefits, app-based SHSs unfold diverse security risks. Several attacks have already been reported to SHSs and current security solutions only consider smart home devices and apps individually to detect malicious actions, rather than the context of the SHS as a whole. Thus, the current security solutions applied to SHSs cannot capture user activities and sensor-device-user interactions in a holistic fashion. To address these limitations, in this article, we introduce A egis +, a novel context-aware platform-independent security framework to detect malicious behavior in an SHS. Specifically, A egis + observes the states of the connected smart home entities (sensors and devices) for different user activities and usage patterns in an SHS and builds a contextual model to differentiate between malicious and benign behavior. We evaluated the efficacy and performance of A egis + in multiple smart home settings (i.e., single bedroom, double bedroom, duplex) and platforms (i.e., Samsung SmartThings, Amazon Alexa) where real users perform day-to-day activities using real SHS devices. We also measured the performance of A egis + against five different malicious behaviors. Our detailed evaluation shows that A egis + can detect malicious behavior in SHS with high accuracy (over 95%) and secure the SHS regardless of the smart home layout and platforms, device configurations, installed apps, controller devices, and enforced user policies. Finally, A egis + yields minimum overhead to the SHS, ensuring effective deployability in real-life smart environments.

Multimedia languages traditionally, they focus on synchronizing a multimedia presentation (based on media and time abstractions) and on supporting user interactions for a single user, usually limited to keyboard and mouse input. Recent advances in recognition technologies, however, have given rise to a new class of multimodal user interfaces (MUIs). In short, MUIs process two or more combined user input modalities (e.g. speech, pen, touch, gesture, gaze, and head and body movements) in a coordinated manner with output modalities . An individual input modality corresponds to a specific type of user-generated information captured by input devices (e.g. speech, pen) or sensors (e.g. motion sensor). An individual output modality corresponds to user-consumed information through stimuli captured by human senses. The computer system produces those stimuli through audiovisual or actuation devices (e.g. tactile feedback). In this proposal, we aim at extending the NCL multimedia language to take advantage of multimodal features.

Studies of first-word acquisition in typical language-learning children frequently take the form of diary studies. Comparable diary data from language-impaired children with developmental delays, however, are not currently available. This report describes the spontaneous vocalizations of a child with a developmental delay for 14 months, from the time he was age 6:5 to age 7:7. From a corpus of 285 utterances, 47 phonetic forms were identified and categorized. Analysis focused on semantic, communicative, and phonological usage patterns.

Aim: The aim of this article is to work out the differential significance of risk factors of media usage, personality and social environment in order to explain problematic video game usage in childhood and adolescence. Method: Data are drawn from the Berlin Longitudinal Study Media, a four-year longitudinal control group study with 1 207 school children. Data from 739 school children who participated at 5th and 6th grade were available for analysis. Result: To explain the development of problematic video game usage, all three areas, i. e. specific media usage patterns, certain aspects of personality and certain factors pertaining to social environment, must be taken into consideration. Video game genre, video gaming in reaction to failure in the real world (media usage), the children’s/adolescents’ academic self-concept (personality), peer problems and parental care (social environment) are of particular significance. Conclusion: The results of the study emphasize that in future – and above all also longitudinal – studies different factors regarding social environment must also be taken into account with the recorded variables of media usage and personality in order to be able to explain the construct of problematic video game usage. Furthermore, this will open up possibilities for prevention.

Abstract : Pajeksan and Jogonegaran kampongs are located in central city of Yogyakarta, while the lurung Pajeksan – Jogonegaran kampongs is the border as well as the main axis for the people living that are currently evolving as the houses for workers in the Malioboro area. The beneficial usage of the lurung has grown as the fulfillment of the people’s need for food. The usage is increasing and posing an intervention on the lurung space. This research is aimed to discover the use and the influence of culinary transaction space, culinary activity and form of element transaction space in the community of lurung Pajeksan - Jogonegaran kampongs. This is done by using the Behavior mapping. The result of identifying and analyzing is use to obtain the special characteristic that happen in the society so that they are able to keep their existence. The usage patterns of public space as the culinary transaction space in lurung Pajeksan - Jogonegaran kampongs is linier and it follows the shape of an elongated lurung with the greatest usage occurs at the junction of the driveway towards the kampongs.
