Learner-centric research on factors influencing learning results has focused, among other things, on student characteristics, demographic data, and usage patterns in learning management systems (LMSs). This paper complements the existing research by investigating potential correlations between learning results and LMS usage during exam preparation, focusing on practice and repetition. Based on 250 million log-file entries used to analyze student interactions within specific courses and overall in the LMS, results show positive, albeit modest, correlations between usage variables and final exam grades. Regarding practice, the number of learning days and the number of days between the first and the last learning sessions correlate better than the coverage of different learning materials. The findings for repetition indicate that it is more beneficial to transfer learning to new tasks than to repeat the same items many times. The study not only looks at single usage variables but also examines the distribution of the descriptive and dependent variables and uses visualization techniques and quantiles to deal with outliers. This paper describes the largest empirical study of learner interactions in blended learning courses conducted so far (at least according to the authors’ knowledge) and including techniques for processing and analyzing large datasets about LMS usage.

Studies of first-word acquisition in typical language-learning children frequently take the form of diary studies. Comparable diary data from language-impaired children with developmental delays, however, are not currently available. This report describes the spontaneous vocalizations of a child with a developmental delay for 14 months, from the time he was age 6:5 to age 7:7. From a corpus of 285 utterances, 47 phonetic forms were identified and categorized. Analysis focused on semantic, communicative, and phonological usage patterns.

Aim: The aim of this article is to work out the differential significance of risk factors of media usage, personality and social environment in order to explain problematic video game usage in childhood and adolescence. Method: Data are drawn from the Berlin Longitudinal Study Media, a four-year longitudinal control group study with 1 207 school children. Data from 739 school children who participated at 5th and 6th grade were available for analysis. Result: To explain the development of problematic video game usage, all three areas, i. e. specific media usage patterns, certain aspects of personality and certain factors pertaining to social environment, must be taken into consideration. Video game genre, video gaming in reaction to failure in the real world (media usage), the children’s/adolescents’ academic self-concept (personality), peer problems and parental care (social environment) are of particular significance. Conclusion: The results of the study emphasize that in future – and above all also longitudinal – studies different factors regarding social environment must also be taken into account with the recorded variables of media usage and personality in order to be able to explain the construct of problematic video game usage. Furthermore, this will open up possibilities for prevention.

Abstract : Pajeksan and Jogonegaran kampongs are located in central city of Yogyakarta, while the lurung Pajeksan – Jogonegaran kampongs is the border as well as the main axis for the people living that are currently evolving as the houses for workers in the Malioboro area. The beneficial usage of the lurung has grown as the fulfillment of the people’s need for food. The usage is increasing and posing an intervention on the lurung space. This research is aimed to discover the use and the influence of culinary transaction space, culinary activity and form of element transaction space in the community of lurung Pajeksan - Jogonegaran kampongs. This is done by using the Behavior mapping. The result of identifying and analyzing is use to obtain the special characteristic that happen in the society so that they are able to keep their existence. The usage patterns of public space as the culinary transaction space in lurung Pajeksan - Jogonegaran kampongs is linier and it follows the shape of an elongated lurung with the greatest usage occurs at the junction of the driveway towards the kampongs.

In transitioning to a hybrid delivery model, faculty are presented with an opportunity to engage in a systematic instructional design process which can bring coursework in line with pedagogical best practices that may not exist in traditional face-to-face classes. This paper presents a model whereby Marist College Academic Technology & eLearning staff focuses faculty attention on designing effective student interactions with content, the instructor, and other students. These interactions promote deeper levels of engagement in student learning.

If you don’t use it, you lose it. School breaks, during which students do not regularly participate in instruction, can therefore have negative consequences on learning. This is especially true for mathematics learning since skills build progressively on earlier materials. How can we bridge these gaps in formal instruction? The Keeping in School Shape (KiSS) program is a mobile, engaging, innovative, and cost-effective way of using technology to help students who have time off between related math courses stay fresh on prerequisite knowledge and skills. Founded on learning theory and designed on a model of behavioral change, the KiSS program embodies retrieval practice and nudges by sending students a daily multiple-choice review problem via text messaging over school break. After rating their confidence in solving the daily problem students receive feedback and a solution. This study explores measures of participation, accuracy, and confidence in an implementation of the KiSS program over winter break between two sequential introductory engineering courses at a large state university in the Southwest United States. Results indicate that careful attention should be paid to the construction of the first few days of the program, and that encouragement, additional resources for review and practice, and an increased breadth of problem difficulty may improve participation.

<p> </p> <p>the present study deals with a more detailed, and updated, modified model that allows for the identification of internet usage patterns by gender. The model was modified due to the development of the internet and new access models, on the one hand, and to the fact that previous studies mainly focuses on various individual (non-interactive) influences of certain factors, on the other.</p> <i></i><u></u> <p>The Decision Tree (DT) method, which is used in our study, does not require a pre-defined underlying relationship. In addition, the method allows a great many explanatory variables to be processed and the most important variables are easy to identify. </p><p>Obtained results can serve as to web developers and designers, since by indicating the differences between male and female internet users in terms of their behaviour on the internet it can help in deciding when, where and how to address and appeal to which section of the user base.
