To understand the mechanism of interfacial damping of axial loosely assembled dovetail to suppress blade vibration, a dry friction force model is presented by the Coulomb friction law and the macroslip model, and the mathematical expression of the friction force is derived. The nonlinear friction force is linearized as an equivalent stiffness and an equivalent damping through the one-term harmonic balance method. The effect of centrifugal force on the equivalent stiffness and the equivalent damping is studied. The forced response of one simplified blade with loosely assembled dovetail attachment is predicted by the harmonic balance method, in which the blade is described by the lumped mass and spring model, and the friction contact joints is simplified as a ideal friction damper. The results show that the equivalent stiffness of loosely assembled dovetail attachment increases with blade centrifugal force, gradually reaches a certain value, and there exists the maximum value for the equivalent stiffness. The equivalent damping increases at the beginning and then decreases with blade centrifugal force increasing, there exists a maximum too. The resonant frequency of blade rises with blade centrifugal force, but it no longer increases when the centrifugal force exceed a certain value. There exists a special centrifugal force on which the effect of dry friction damping is the best.

A cyclic sector corresponding to blade-disk structure with dovetail connection (1/38 blade-disk) is studied and the finite element (FE) model of this structure is established based on ANSYS software. A revised normal rubbing force model is developed and a pulse force model is established to simulate the local rubbing phenomenon between the blade and elastic casing based on the revised model. The effects of the rubbing under different rotating speeds and penetration depths on the blade vibration response and contact behaviors of dovetail interface are analyzed. The results show that the rubbing will cause amplitude amplification phenomenon when the multiple frequency components are close to the first bending and first torsion natural frequencies. The arch bending of the blade caused by blade-tip rubbing can be identified by evaluating the displacement and stress of the blade in the radial direction ( y-direction). The dynamic stress in the process of rubbing gradually changes from alternation between tension and compression stress to the tension stress with the increasing rotating speed. Maximum contact sliding distance may change dramatically when the rubbing force is greater than the centrifugal force. With the increase of rotating speed, the contact pressure increases under the centrifugal force and its fluctuation under rubbing is smaller at higher rotating speeds.

The research project „Process-integrated soft sensor technology for surface conditioning during external longitudinal turning of 42CrMo4“ is dedicated to the formation and in-process-detection of surface layers with industrial relevance. In particular, so-called white layers and residual stresses are investigated. A soft sensor is being researched through the modular combination of non-destructive testing technology and process knowledge by means of data fusion. This is to be used in the context of an adaptive control of the turning process in order to adjust beneficial surface states.
