In this paper, a class of predator-prey systems with fear effect is investigated, the integrability conditions of the origin and the positive equilibrium are obtained, and the fact that three limit cycles can be bifurcated from the positive equilibrium is proved, so bistable phenomenon can occur for this system.

This paper investigates the diffusive predator-prey system with nonmonotonic functional response and fear effect. Firstly, we discussed the stability of the equilibrium solution for a corresponding ODE system. Secondly, we established a priori positive upper and lower bounds for the positive solutions of the PDE system. Thirdly, sufficient conditions for the local asymptotical stability of two positive equilibrium solutions of the system are given by using the method of eigenvalue spectrum analysis of linearization operator. Finally, the existence and nonexistence of nonconstant positive steady states of this reaction-diffusion system are established by the Leray–Schauder degree theory and Poincaré inequality.

A discrete-time predator–prey system incorporating fear effect of the prey with the predator has other food resource is proposed in this paper. The trivial equilibrium and the predator free equilibrium are both unstable. A set of sufficient conditions for the global attractivity of prey free equilibrium and interior equilibrium are established by using iteration scheme and the comparison principle of difference equations. Our study shows that due to the fear of predation, the prey species will be driven to extinction while the predator species tends to be stable since it has other food resource, i.e., the prey free equilibrium may be globally stable under some suitable conditions. Numeric simulations are provided to illustrate the feasibility of the main results.

We proposed and analyzed a predator–prey model with both the additive Allee effect and the fear effect in the prey. Firstly, we studied the existence and local stability of equilibria. Some sufficient conditions on the global stability of the positive equilibrium were established by applying the Dulac theorem. Those results indicate that some bifurcations occur. We then confirmed the occurrence of saddle-node bifurcation, transcritical bifurcation, and Hopf bifurcation. Those theoretical results were demonstrated with numerical simulations. In the bifurcation analysis, we only considered the effect of the strong Allee effect. Finally, we found that the stronger the fear effect, the smaller the density of predator species. However, the fear effect has no influence on the final density of the prey.

The Hopf bifurcation for a predator-prey system with -logistic growth and prey refuge is studied. It is shown that the ODEs undergo a Hopf bifurcation at the positive equilibrium when the prey refuge rate or the index- passed through some critical values. Time delay could be considered as a bifurcation parameter for DDEs, and using the normal form theory and the center manifold reduction, explicit formulae are derived to determine the direction of bifurcations and the stability and other properties of bifurcating periodic solutions. Numerical simulations are carried out to illustrate the main results.

In this paper, we investigate the stability and Hopf bifurcation of a delayed density-dependent predator–prey system with Beddington–DeAngelis functional response, where not only the prey density dependence but also the predator density dependence are considered such that the studied predator–prey system conforms to the realistically biological environment. We start with the geometric criterion introduced by Beretta and Kuang [2002] and then investigate the stability of the positive equilibrium and the stability switches of the system with respect to the delay parameter [Formula: see text]. Especially, we generalize the geometric criterion in [Beretta & Kuang, 2002] by introducing the condition [Formula: see text] which can be assured by the condition [Formula: see text], and adopting the technique of lifting to define the function [Formula: see text] for alternatively determining stability switches at the zeroes of [Formula: see text]s. Afterwards, by the Poincaré normal form for Hopf bifurcation in [Kuznetsov, 1998] and the bifurcation formulae in [Hassard et al., 1981], we qualitatively analyze the properties for the occurring Hopf bifurcations of the system (3). Finally, an example with numerical simulations is given to illustrate the obtained results.

The dynamical behaviors of a two-species discrete ratio-dependent predator–prey system are considered. Some sufficient conditions for the local stability of the equilibria is obtained by using the linearization method. Further, we also obtain a new sufficient condition to ensure that the positive equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable by using an iteration scheme and the comparison principle of difference equations, which generalizes what paper [G. Chen, Z. Teng and Z. Hu, Analysis of stability for a discrete ratio-dependent predator–prey system, Indian J. Pure Appl. Math.42(1) (2011) 1–26] has done. The method given in this paper is new and very resultful comparing with papers [H. F. Huo and W. T. Li, Existence and global stability of periodic solutions of a discrete predator–prey system with delays, Appl. Math. Comput.153 (2004) 337–351; X. Liao, S. Zhou and Y. Chen, On permanence and global stability in a general Gilpin–Ayala competition predator–prey discrete system, Appl. Math. Comput.190 (2007) 500–509] and it can also be applied to study the global asymptotic stability for general multiple species discrete population systems. At the end of this paper, we present an open question.

A singular delayed biological economic predator-prey system with and without stochastic fluctuation is proposed. The conditions of singularity induced bifurcation are gained, and a state feedback controller is designed to eliminate such bifurcation. Furthermore, saddle-node bifurcation is also showed. Next, the local stability of the positive equilibrium and the existence of Hopf bifurcation are obtained by analyzing the distribution of roots of the corresponding characteristic equation, and the hybrid control strategy is used to control the occurrence of Hopf bifurcation. In addition, some explicit formulas determining the spectral densities of the populations and harvest effort are given when the system is considered with stochastic fluctuation. Finally, numerical simulations are illustrated to verify the theoretical results.
