Road traffic network (RTN) structure plays an important role in the field of complex network analysis. In this paper, we propose a regional patch detection method from RTN via community detection of complex network. Firstly, the refined Adapted PageRank algorithm, which combines with the influence factors of the location property weight, the geographic distance weight and the road level weight, is used to calculate the candidate ranking results of key nodes in the RTN. Secondly, the ranking result and the shortest path distance as two significant impact factors are used to select the key points of the RTN, and then the Adapted K-Means algorithm is applied to regional patch detection of the RTN. Finally, based on the experimental data of Zhangwu road traffic network, the analysis results are as follows: Zhangwu is divided into 9 functional structures with key node locations as the core. Regional patch structure is divided according to key points, and the RTN is actually divided into nine small functional communities. Nine functional regional patches constitute a new network structure, maintaining connectivity between the regional patches can improve the overall efficiency of the RTN.

The computer simulation of road traffic is an important tool for control and analysis of road traffic networks. Due to their requirements for computation time (especially for large road traffic networks), many simulators of the road traffic has been adapted for distributed computing environment where combined power of multiple interconnected computers (nodes) is utilized. In this case, the road traffic network is divided into required number of sub-networks, whose simulation is then performed on particular nodes of the distributed computer. The distributed computer can be a homogenous (with nodes of the same computational power) or a heterogeneous cluster (with nodes of various powers). In this paper, we present two methods for road traffic network division for heterogeneous clusters. These methods consider the different computational powers of the particular nodes determined using a benchmark during the road traffic network division.

In order to study the prediction problem of expressway travel time, due to the ambiguity and uncertainty in the road traffic system, the travel time prediction model is established based on the exclusive disjunctive soft set theory. Through the parameter reduction theory of soft set, the main influence factors are extracted, and the mapping relationship between the influence factors and the travel time is obtained through the exclusive disjunctive soft set decision system. The travel time model is established based on the soft set theory, and the travel time is calculated through the mapping relationship. The experimental results show that, compared with the BPR function model, the travel time model based on the exclusive disjunctive soft set theory reduces the prediction error and effectively improves the calculation accuracy of the travel time.

Due to increasing traffic demand, many metropolitan areas are experiencing extensive traffic congestion, which demands for efficient traffic signal timing and optimization. However, conventional efficiency measure-based signal optimization cannot handle the ubiquitous uncertainty in the road networks, demanding for the incorporation of reliability measures into signal optimization, which is still in its early stage. Therefore, targeting this issue, based on the recent studies on recognizing travel time reliability (TRR) as an important reliability measure of road networks, a travel time reliability-based urban road traffic network signal timing optimization model is proposed in this paper, with the objective function to optimize a TTR measure, i.e., buffer time index. The proposed optimization model is solved using the heuristic particle swarm optimization approach. A case study is conducted using microscopic traffic simulation for a road network in the City of Nanjing, China. Results demonstrate that the proposed optimization model can improve travel time reliability of the road traffic network and the efficiency of the road traffic network as well. Future studies are recommended to expand the integration of travel time reliability into traffic signal timing optimization.

<p>Under the background of increasingly expanded road traffic network in China, it is highly necessary to construct bridges. Upgrading the bridge construction technique can upgrade the road quality to the maximum extent. In order to upgrade the construction technique, this article elaborates on the construction techniques of hanging basket in four aspects: definition and design principle of hanging basket; key application points of construction techniques of hanging basket in the bridge project; frequent quality accidents and preventive and curative measures of hanging basket; on-site management of hanging basket and upgrading of safety.</p>

ABSTRACT The aspects of liability and compensation have been key points when discussing the issue of negligence in road traffic accidents. This article aims to analyze the concept of liability in road accidents, in accordance to Islamic law, that focuses on negligence by using a qualitative approach. The application of ‘dhaman’ or the compensation of damages, is a broad concept that will be examined in this study. Furthermore, this study will review the specific principles and approaches on collisions of road traffic within the Islamic law. The methodology carried out employs the use of library study to analyze the concept of liability in cases of collisions, based on the Al-Quran, sunnah, ijma’ and qiyas with regards to the application of ‘dhaman’ on the negligence that have resulted in collisions from road accidents. The research outcome suggests that the ‘causal’ principle in Islamic law is very clear on its application and relevance in determining the liability of either a case of collision that has occurred on the road, ocean or in air. The concept of liability is also applied to determine the liability of negligence and awarded compensation by the parties that are involved in constructing the roads, bridges, tunnels and other structures that are associated with the road, if the liability does not fall upon the innocent and negligent drivers.

Rural traffic network (RTN), as a complex network, plays a significant role in the field of resisting natural disasters and emergencies. In this paper, we analyze the vulnerability of RTN via three traffic network models (i.e., No-power Traffic Network Model (NTNM), Distance Weight Traffic Network Model (DWTNM), and Road Level Weight Traffic Network Model (RLWTNM)). Firstly, based on the complex network theory, RTN is constructed by using road mapping method, according to the topological features. Secondly, Random Attack (RA) and Deliberate Attack (DA) strategies are used to analyze network vulnerability in three rural traffic network models. By analyzing the attack tolerance of RTN under the condition of different attack patterns, we find that the road level weight traffic network has a good performance to represent the vulnerability of RTN.

The structure and properties of public transportation networks have great implications in urban planning, public policies, and infectious disease control. This study contributes a weighted complex network analysis of travel routes on the national highway network of Pakistan. The network is responsible for handling 75 percent of the road traffic yet is largely inadequate, poor, and unreliable. The highway network displays small world properties and is assortative in nature. Based on the betweenness centrality of the nodes, the most important cities are identified as this could help in identifying the potential congestion points in the network. Keeping in view the strategic location of Pakistan, such a study is of practical importance and could provide opportunities for policy makers to improve the performance of the highway network.
