Four species of Triplocania collected in the Brazilian state of Bahia, are described and illustrated, based on male specimens, namely: T. annyae sp. nov., T. diamantina sp. nov., T. lauzie sp. nov. and T. miltoni sp. nov. They differ from the other species in the genus, in which the males are known by hypandrium and phallosome structures. New records of T. capixaba Silva-Neto, García Aldrete & Rafael, 2016 and T. manueli Silva-Neto, García Aldrete & Rafael, 2016 for the state of Bahia are presented. In addition, an update on the Triplocania internal classification is proposed.

Twenty three new state records of Cerambycidae are provided for Espírito Santo State, Brazil. Forgotten geographical records for Desmiphora (Desmiphora) cirrosa Erichson, 1847, and Cipriscola fasciata (Thomson, 1860) are mentioned. Notes on Metacriodion capixaba Fragoso, 1970, Potiaete maculata Martins & Galileo, 1999, and Eriphus mexicanus Audinet-Serville, 1834 are presented. The female of Trestonia grisea Martins & Galileo, 1990 is described for the first time. Stenoeme annularis Martins, 1980 is redescribed and a key to species of Stenoeme is provided. Four new species are described from the Brazilian state of Espírito Santo: Microibidion fiuzai, Iquiracetima venturai, Adesmus culiki, and Xenofrea simplicioi.

Members of one species of Leodice Lamarck, 1818, one species of Lysidice Lamarck, 1818, and another of Palola Gray in Stair, 1847 were found among material from rhodolith beds, collected off the states of Paraíba and Pernambuco, northeastern Brazilian coast. Of those species, one is new to science and the other two are new records for the state of Pernambuco, although their occurrence on neighbouring areas was already known. Leodice calcaricola sp. nov. resembles morphologically L. miurai (Carrera-Parra & Salazar-Vallejo, 1998) as members of both species share similar body size, moniliform prostomial appendages, similar numbers of branchial filaments (1–3 per branchia), and, especially, by having falcigers with bidentate blades on anterior chaetigers, and tridentate on posterior ones. These species differ, however, since specimens of L. calcaricola sp. nov. have distinctly shorter antennae and palps, homodont and heterodont pectinate chaetae, three types of aciculae and two subacicular hooks per midbody parapodium. The other two species which members were found on the rhodolith beds are Lysidice cf. unicornis (Grube, 1840) and Palola brasiliensis Zanol, Paiva & Attolini, 2000. We describe herein new species to science and provide a redescription for L. cf. unicornis because the Brazilian specimens of this species have never been formally described.

The Brazilian state of Amazonas harbors an exceptionally high number of bryophyte species for its size, yet many taxa remain to be discovered. Herein, we continue by further describing and illustrating two new species, as well as by providing evidence for substantial geographical extensions of another five taxa. Two new species, Ceratolejeunea ocirii and Ceratolejeunea semicornua are herein described. Cololejeunea appressa is newly recorded for Brazil, and Cheilolejeunea savannae, Cololejeunea clavatopapillata, Prionolejeunea galliotii and Plagiochila eggersii are new records for the state of Amazonas, Brazil.

Abstract—We describe and illustrate Besleria discreta, a new species from the Brazilian state of Espírito Santo. The new species has been found in a mountainous area in the southern part of the state and can be recognized by leaf blades that are slightly bullate on the adaxial surface and a short corolla. We also report the occurrence of two species that have not previously been recorded in the Amazon rainforest in Brazil: Besleria concinna and Besleria neblinae. Data on morphology, ecology, distribution, and preliminary conservation status of the three taxa are also provided.

The state of Mato Grosso is the 3rd largest Brazilian state, is covered with three major Brazilian biomes, including the Pantanal, Cerrado, and Amazonia. To date, 449 ant species are recorded in literature for the state. In the present work, we documented the ants sampled along a fragmented landscape, in the municipality of Juara, in the Cerrado-Amazon transition zone in the state of Mato Grosso, Brazil. The ant species were captured with Pitfall traps installed in 20 trails with 10 traps in each (totaling 200). Our results show 151 species, belonging to 43 genera and eight subfamilies, of which 28 species were recorded for the first time in the state and five species recorded for the first time in Brazil. Most genera collected were Pheidole Westwood, 1839 (45 species) followed by Crematogaster Lund, 1831 (11 species). By highlighting species recorded for the first time in state of Mato Grosso and Brazil, we hope to encourage new discoveries and increase the general knowledge of the ant fauna of different biomes in the region.

Loneuroides is registered for the first time in Brazil. A new species from the Brazilian state of Bahia, is here described and illustrated. It differs from all the other species in the genus in details of the female ninth sternum and by number of primary branches in vein M of fore- and hind- wings. A map with the distribution of the species of Loneuroides is included.

A list of species of butterflies from Serra da Jibóia, a mountainous massif in the Recôncavo of Bahia State, is presented based on specimens deposited in the entomological collection Prof. Johann Becker of Museu de Zoologia da Universidade Estadual de Feira de Santana (MZUEFS), results that should contribute with the increment of biodiversity knowledge of the butterfly fauna of the State. The list includes 140 species, 86 of which are new records to Bahia and a new species of genus of Perophthalma Westwood (Riodinidae). Nymphalidae was the richest family with 60 species. Most of the species listed in the present work has a widely geographic distribution in Brazil and occur in open areas. Borboletas (Lepidoptera: Papilionoidea e Hesperioidea) da Serra da Jibóia, Bahia, Brasil Resumo. Uma lista das espécies de borboletas da Serra da Jibóia, um maciço montanhoso no Recôncavo baiano, é apresentada com base no exame da coleção entomológica Prof. Johann Becker do Museu de Zoologia da Universidade Estadual de Feira de Santana (MZUEFS), visando contribuir para o conhecimento da fauna de borboletas do estado da Bahia. A lista inclui 140 espécies, das quais 86 espécies são novos registros para o estado da Bahia e uma nova espécie do gênero of Perophthalma Westwood (Riodinidae). Nymphalidae foi a família de maior riqueza com 60 espécies. A maioria das espécies listadas possui ampla distribuição geográfica no Brasil e ocorre em áreas abertas.

During a survey on Eriophyoid Mites in southwest of East Azerbaijan province (Iran), Aceria zygofabae n. sp. and Aceria alkannae n. sp. were found on Zygophyllum fabago L. (Zygophyllaceae) and Alkanna bracteosa Boiss. (Boraginaceae), respectively. They are described and illustrated here. Four further Aceria species were collected and identified as A. eucricotes (Nalepa, 1892), A. cynodonis Wilson, 1959, A. chenopodia Xue, Sadeghi & Hong, 2009 and A. tristriata (Nalepa, 1890) (protogyne and deutogyne). Aceria cynodonis is a new record for Iran Eriophyoid fauna whereas the other species were found for the first time in East Azerbaijan.

This species is recorded from Brazil for the first time based on material collected from the state of Amazonas, Ipixuna, Rio Gregório. T. spina sp. nov. and T. tripenis sp. nov. are described and illustrated based on specimens collected from the same locality.

Some regions, such as the Northeast Region of Brazil, are still severely understudied and the trichopteran fauna of this region is not entirely known, mainly in areas from Cerrado and Caatinga biomes. Currently, 25 species have been reported from Piauí State, but most of these records are concentrated from one locality. This study aimed to update the knowledge of Trichoptera diversity in this state, including the description of a new species and new geographic records for the Northeast region and Brazil. The samples were collected in seven municipalities, using various traps. Specimens were also received from the municipality of Bom Jesus. Thirty-two species were added for Trichoptera fauna of Piauí, 14 of these represent new records for Northeast Brazil; furthermore, Neotrichia palma Flint 1982 is a new record for Brazil. Additionally, a new species, Cernotina longa sp. nov., is describe and illustrate, being the third nominal record of the genus for the Caatinga biome. Thus, with the contribution of this study, 57 species, 20 genera and seven families of caddisflies are known for Piauí State.
