AbstractThe Chinese representatives of the tribe Ducetiini are partly revised. The paper includes descriptions of new taxa (Ducetia borealis sp. n., Kuwayamaea inflata sp. n., K. anhuii sp. n., K. fujiani sp. n., K. hunani sp. n., K. brachyptera sp. n., Prohimerta guizhouensis sp. n., P. fujianensis sp. n., P. hubeiensis sp. n., P. sichuanensis sp. n., Shirakisotima furca sp. n., Paraducetia paracruciata gen. & sp. n.) and of the previously unknown female of Sh. brevifissa Wang & Liu, identification keys to genera and species of Chinese Ducetiini for males, notes about systematic position and distribution of the taxa examined [the former genus Anisotima Bey-Bienko is a subgenus of the genus Prohimerta Hebard; Sh. acuminata Wang & Liu is possibly a junior synonym of Sh. multipunctata (Kang & Yang); some published data on distribution of K. sapporensis Matsumura & Shiraki, Prohimerta yunnana (Bey-Bienko), and Paraducetia cruciata (Brunner von Wattenwyl) are probably erroneous].

Based on the original and published data, it is suggested to refer Pantocsekiella rossii to the synonymy of Pantocsekiella chantaica and extend the diagnosis of the latter.

Abstract We describe two new species of the freshwater-crab genus Demanietta  Bott, 1966 from Tanintharyi (Tenasserim) division, southern Myanmar (Burma), Demanietta liui  sp. nov. and Demanietta lenya  sp. nov.  Demanietta liui  sp. nov. is morphologically most similar to D. thagatensis  Rathbun, 1904 and D. khirikhan  Yeo, Naiyanetr & Ng, 1999; D. lenya  sp. nov. appears close to D. manii  Rathbun, 1904, D. merguensis  Bott, 1966, and D. nakhonsi  Yeo, Naiyanetr & Ng, 1999. The two new species are easily distinguished from their most similar congeners in the shape of the external orbital tooth, epibranchial tooth, and male first gonopod. Molecular analysis based on partial mitochondrial 16S rDNA also supports the systematic position of the new taxa.

Mexican species of three pimpline genera, Apechthis Förster (one  species), Itoplectis Förster (six species) and Pimpla Fabricius (20 species, including one unidentified taxon), are reviewed. Four species of Pimpla are described as new to science: P. chamela sp. nov., P. oaxacana sp. nov., P. tequila sp. nov. and P. xalapana sp. nov. Pimpla thoracica Morley, 1914 is found to be a junior synonym of P. ellopiae Harrington, 1892 (syn. nov.). Apechthis zapoteca (Cresson) is recorded for the first time from Venezuela, Pimpla dimidiata (Townes) from Mexico, P. caeruleata Cresson, P. croceiventris (Cresson), P. sanguinipes Cresson and P. sumichrasti Cresson from Honduras, P. ichneumoniformis Cresson and P. viridescens Morley from Guatemala and Honduras, and P. punicipes Cresson from Panama. The South American species Pimpla caerulea Brullé and the Nearctic species P. pedalis Cresson are excluded from the Mexican fauna. Male of Itoplectis mexicana and female of Pimpla dimidiata are recorded for the first time. Identification keys to the species of Itoplectis and Pimpla occurring in Mexico are provided.

The Afrotropical species described as Trachyphloeini Lacordaire, 1863 were examined and their taxonomic status is revised. Atrachyphloeus Voss, 1962 is proposed as a junior synonym of Phaylomerinthus Schoenherr, 1842, Cathormiocerus africanus Hoffmann, 1965 as a junior synonym of Tapinomorphus sylvicola Voss, 1962 and Trachyphloeus pustulifer Voss, 1959 as a junior synonym of Platycopes tuberculatus Marshall, 1906. Atrachyphloeus convergens Voss, 1962 is transferred to the genus Phaylomerinthus Schoenherr, 1842, Trachyphloeus hardenbergi Marshall, 1923 and T. notulatus Boheman, 1842 to Glyptosomus Schoenherr, 1847, Trachyphloeus nanus Fåhraeus, 1871 to Pentatrachyphloeus Voss, 1974, Trachyphloeus pustulifer Voss, 1959 to Platycopes Schoenherr, 1823 and Trachyphloeus setiger Fåhraeus, 1871 to Phaylomerinthus Schoenherr, 1842. “Trachyphloeosoma” brevicolle Voss, 1974, “Trachyphloeus” brevis Boheman, 1842, “T”. nodifrons Hoffmann, 1968 and “T”. squalidus Boheman, 1842 are provisionally left in their current genera, but new genera for them will be described in future papers. The genus Phaylomerinthus Schoenherr, 1842 has been redefined and redescribed. Lectotypes for the following species are designated (current names added in brackets where different): Cathormiocerus africanus Hoffmann, 1965 (Tapinomorphus sylvicola Voss, 1962), Trachyphloeus hardenbergi Marshall, 1923 (Glyptosomus hardenbergi (Marshall, 1923)), Trachyphloeus nanus Fåhraeus, 1871 (Pentatrachyphloeus nanus (Fåhraeus, 1871)), Trachyphloeus notulatus Boheman, 1842 (Glyptosomus notulatus (Boheman, 1842)), Trachyphloeus pustulifer Voss, 1959 (Platycopes tuberculatus (Marshall, 1906)), Trachyphloeus setiger Fåhraeus, 1871 (Phaylomerinthus setiger (Fåhraeus, 1871)), “Trachyphloeus” brevis Boheman in Schoenherr, 1842 and “Trachyphloeus” squalidus Boheman in Schoenherr, 1842. Two paralectotypes of Cathormiocerus africanus Hoffmann, 1965 from Tanzania are described as a new species, Tapinomorphus franzi sp. n. All type specimens are illustrated.

Fourteen species of Tipula (Vestiplex Bezzi, 1924) crane flies (Diptera, Tipulidae) known from Mongolia are taxonomically revised. Identification keys for males and females, redescriptions and illustrations of all species are presented. Most genital structures are illustrated for the first time. Tipula (V.) jakut Alexander, 1934 is designated as junior synonym of T. (V.) sintenisi Lackschewitz, 1933; T. (V.) kamchatkana Alexander, 1934 is designated as junior synonym of T. (V.) mediovittata Mik, 1889. Tipula (V.) balioptera Loew, 1863 and T. (V.) leucoprocta Mik, 1889 are listed as new records for the Mongolian fauna.

The ant genus Prionopelta Mayr, 1866 is revised for the Neotropics. Morphological traits combined with geographical data led to the recognition of eight species, four of them described here as new: Prionopelta dubia sp. n., Prionopelta menininha sp. n., Prionopelta minuta sp. n., and Prionopelta tapatia sp. n. Prionopelta marthae Forel, 1909 is proposed as a new junior synonym of Prionopelta antillana Forel, 1909. External morphological descriptions of the worker caste for all species are provided, as well as for some of the males and queens, mostly described here for the first time. Identification keys for all known castes, distribution maps and high-resolution illustrations are supplied for all species.

AbstractThe systematic position of the monotypic genus Beeria Hatch 1957 within the subfamily Staphylininae is discussed. The genus combines characters of both the tribe Staphylinini and Quediini, however the morphology of the prothorax seems to justify its assignment to the tribe Quediini. A detailed description of the genus, together with the presently known data about its distribution and ecology are given. The type species of Beeria (punctata Hatch 1957) is identical with Philonthus nematocerus Casey 1915, which results in the following new combination: Beeria nematocera (Casey 1915) with punctata Hatch 1957 as a junior synonym. The characters distinguishing the tribes Staphylinini and Quediini are discussed in detail. A key to holarctic genera of the tribe Quediini is given. The subtribe Triacri established by Bernhauer (1931) within the tribe Quediini is identical with the subtribe Xanthopygi within the tribe Staphylinini. The genera Algon Sharp, Brachycamonthus Bernh. and Rientis Sharp are removed from the tribe Quediini and reassigned to the tribe Staphylinini, subtribe Xanthopygi. The genus Rientis Sharp, 1874 is identical with Securipalpus Schubert, 1908, which becomes a junior synonym of Rientis.

AbstractThe genus Roleta McDermott is revised. This was a monobasic genus and its type species, R. coracina McDermott, is found to be a junior synonym of Calyptocephalus notaticollis Pic. Four other species of Calyptocephalus, C. austerus Olivier, C. hilaris Olivier and C. inornatus Olivier and C. cincticollis Pic, are transferred to Roleta; austerus and inornatus received mandatory changes to their specific epithets in the new combinations. A key to the species is provided. The systematic position of the genus is discussed.

The Indomalayan genus Graptophara Stål, 1865 (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Scutelleridae: Scutellerinae) is redescribed and revised, and its systematic position is discussed. Two species, G. reynaudii (Guérin-Méneville, 1834) (the type species, distributed in the Sundaic Region) and G. anomala sp. nov. (southern India) are recognized, redescribed or described, and illustrated. A lectotype is designated for Callidea pulchra Westwood, 1837, now a junior synonym of G. reynaudii.

ABSTRACTAll taxa of Orthoptera known from the latest Eocene deposits of the Isle of Wight are redescribed or discussed, based on the study of their type material. The following new taxa are described: Ontogryllus gen. nov., O. rossi sp. nov. (type species), Achetomorpha gen. nov., A. irregularis sp. nov. (type species), and Proeneopterotrypus gen. nov. The latter genus is here proposed for Pteroplistes danicus Rust, described from the Palaeocene/Eocene of Denmark, as this find is important for understanding the systematic position of the genus Eneopterotrypus Zeuner. Remarks about the taxonomy of the taxa studied, age of these deposits, and ecology are given.
