Tremella laurisilvae, a species new to science with a parasitic strategy on Biscogniauxia species, is described from the evergreen laurel forests of Macaronesia. The basidiocarps are macroscopically differentiated by finger-like lobes and brown-orange colour. Micromorphological differences with phylogenetically related species are evaluated and its phylogenetic placement in Tremellomycetes is inferred from ITS rDNA sequences. A detailed description, plate with photographs and a key to species from Europe and Macaronesia are provided.

A new species, Lepiota elseae, is described from Mediterranean areas in Spain in association with Quercus ilex, based on both morphological and molecular characters (analysis of the ITS-rDNA sequences). Illustrations of fresh basidiomata in situ and of the main macro- and micromorphological features are provided. L. elseae belongs to section Lepiota and is compared with morphologically similar taxa. The phylogenetic relationship with related species based on ITS sequences is discussed.

A new species of truffle, T.aztecorum, is described from central Mexico. Tuberaztecorum can be distinguished from other related Tuber species synoptically by a combination of morphological features including ascospore size, pellis cells with irregular thickness, cystidia, ascoma colour and associated host (Abiesreligiosa an endemic Abies species from central Mexico); sequence variation on the ITS rDNA also distinguishes T.aztecorum from related species. A phylogenetic analysis of the ITS rDNA demonstrates that T.aztecorum belongs to the Maculatum clade and is unique from other similar small, white-cream coloured Tuber species distributed in north-eastern Mexico such as T.castilloi and T.guevarai.

A new species, Queskallion saetosumsp. nov., is described herein from Sichuan Province, China. It is diagnosed from a closely related species, Q. tangi Smetana, 2015. Color images and line drawings of the adult of the new species, as well as its genitalia are provided. In addition, a checklist of species, an updated key to species and a geographical distribution map of all known species in the genus Queskallion Smetana are included.

Selected fungi on ferns in Taiwan are described, illustrated, annotated and complemented with first DNA sequences. The ranges of distribution, host species, morphology, and the taxonomy of some species were revised. ITS rDNA sequences proved to be useful for distinguishing between species on the same host. A new species of Venustosynnema found on dead leaves of Selaginella moellendorfii differs from the other species of the genus by its small conidiomata with smooth central seta and reniform conidia. A new species of Zasmidium described on living fronds of Dicranopteris linearis is particular by its hyaline, smooth conidia. New data are derived from new collections of Pseudocercospora athyrii, Ps. cyatheae, and Ps. pteridophytophila hitherto only known from the type collections and of Mycosphaerella gleicheniae. Ps. christellae is considered a synonym of Ps. pteridophytophila. M. gleicheniae and Ps. cyatheae are new records for Taiwan.

Vulgarogamasus edurus sp. nov. (Acari: Parasitidae) is described based on females, deutonymphs and males extracted from leaf litter and soil in Ami, Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan. Morphological differences between the new species and its closely related species, Vulgarogamasus fujisanus (Ishikawa, 1972), are recorded based on the examination of type materials. Information about parasitid mites reported in Japanese literature is reviewed, and a key to species is provided.

Abstract— Myrcia longipetiolata, a new species of Myrcia, is here described and illustrated. With a phylogenetic hypothesis, we show that this species belongs to Myrcia clade 10, a morphologically recognized and narrowly distributed group of species, which was recently discovered. Myrcia longipetiolata resembles M. unana due to its long leaves, acute or acuminate leaf apex, cuneate leaf base, long petioles, and they share the same area of occurrence. Myrcia longipetiolata differs from M. unana by its larger leaves, larger number of leaf secondary veins, marginal vein more distant from the leaf margin, lanceolate bracteoles, smaller and truncate, rounded, or apiculate calyx lobes with whitish to yellowish trichomes, and smaller floral disc. Besides the phylogenetic placement of M. longipetiolata within the genus, morphological comparisons with related species and comments on its distribution, habitat, and conservation status are also provided.

Schisandra cauliflora, a new species found in northern Vietnam and described here is referable to Schisandra subg. Sphaerostema. A morphological comparison with related species, and a key to species in the subgenus is provided. A description including details of distribution and habitat is supplemented with a line-drawing.

AbstractBacidina flavoleprosa is described as a new species from the Czech Republic. Its position within the genus is supported by phylogenetic inferences of ITS rDNA sequences from its holotype and many other representatives of Bacidia s. lat., including newly sequenced Bacidina sulphurella, B. adastra and B. neosquamulosa, as well as additional sequences of B. arnoldiana. ITS data also support the recent delimitation of B. arnoldiana and B. sulphurella based on the shape of conidia and ecological preferences.

The Backusella genus comprises mucoralean saprobes that inhabit in mainly soil and form transitorily curved (when young, erect at maturity) sporangiophores arising directly from the substratum, with simultaneous production of both sporangia and sporangiola. During a study of Mucorales in soil from an Atlantic Rainforest in Pernambuco, Brazil, one specimen of Backusella was isolated and characterized based on morphological, physiological and molecular data (ITS1-5.8S-ITS2 and LSU rDNA sequences). The phylogenetic analyses of the isolate revealed that it belongs to the Backusellaceae and is closely related to species of Backusella. The specimen grew better at 25ºC, with no development at 40ºC, and presented conical and cylindrical columellae possessing a central constriction as well as subglobose sporangiospores 7.5–15 × 5.5–10 µm. Based on the evidences of the analyzed datasets, a new species of Backusella is proposed and a taxonomic key for the species of this genus is provided.

Chrysosphaerella rotundata sp. nov. is described from a small lake in Finland. Ultrastructural morphology of C. rotundata scales is similar, even identical, to the morphology of C. brevispina scales. However, C. rotundata possesses three types of scales: scales characterized by a circular or almost circular outline were found in addition to the larger and smaller oval scales. Significant genetic differences were recognized in ITS rDNA sequences between C. rotundata and C. brevispina. Results of the molecular analyses and the observed morphological variation of scales have been discussed, clearly showing the existence of a hidden diversity within the genus Chrysosphaerella.
