A new species of truffle, T.aztecorum, is described from central Mexico. Tuberaztecorum can be distinguished from other related Tuber species synoptically by a combination of morphological features including ascospore size, pellis cells with irregular thickness, cystidia, ascoma colour and associated host (Abiesreligiosa an endemic Abies species from central Mexico); sequence variation on the ITS rDNA also distinguishes T.aztecorum from related species. A phylogenetic analysis of the ITS rDNA demonstrates that T.aztecorum belongs to the Maculatum clade and is unique from other similar small, white-cream coloured Tuber species distributed in north-eastern Mexico such as T.castilloi and T.guevarai.

We describe a new species of a wild Mexican Opuntia producer of edible acidic prickly pears (xoconostles), locally known as “xoconostle de cerro blanco“ (white hillside xoconostle), based on external morphology and micromorphology attributes (mainly characters of the spines). This species is morphologically compared with another four species of wild xoconostles distributed in the same region: O. joconostle, O. leiascheinvariana, O. oligacantha and O. matudae. A taxonomic key for the xoconostles of the area is provided. Based on the phylogenetic analysis of one chloroplast gene, one plastid intergenic spacer and one nuclear molecular marker, the new species was recognized as a monophyletic group within Opuntia s.s. sensu Majure et al.

Allium xinlongense from western Sichuan Province, China, is described as a new species. Its diagnostic morphological characters were confirmed to be valid by comparing them to those of related species, such as A. maowenense, A. chrysanthum, A. rude, A. xichuanense, A. chrysocephalum, and A. herderianum. Molecular phylogenetic analysis (combining ITS and rpL32-trnL markers) indicated that this new species is a member of Allium sect. Daghestanica. A comprehensive description of this new species is provided, including habitat environment and detailed morphological traits.

A new encyrtid species, Prionomastix orientalis sp. nov. (Hymenoptera: Chalcidoidea: Encyrtidae), is described from Arunachal Pradesh, India. This is only the second species of Prionomastix reported from India and markedly differs from P. siccarius Annecke, the other species known from India.  Morphological features of the new species are illustrated and compared with related species.

Tremella laurisilvae, a species new to science with a parasitic strategy on Biscogniauxia species, is described from the evergreen laurel forests of Macaronesia. The basidiocarps are macroscopically differentiated by finger-like lobes and brown-orange colour. Micromorphological differences with phylogenetically related species are evaluated and its phylogenetic placement in Tremellomycetes is inferred from ITS rDNA sequences. A detailed description, plate with photographs and a key to species from Europe and Macaronesia are provided.

Portulaca juliomartinezii is described here as a new species from the Mexican states of Guanajuato and Querétaro. It is a perennial species with fusiform roots, magenta flowers, and a hemispheric operculum, a set of characters that segregate it from other taxa like P. mexicana and P. pilosa. Although the molecular phylogenetic analysis is not clear about the sister relationships of P. juliomartinezii, the new species was found to be member of a high-supported clade within the Pilosa clade.

AbstractWe describe a new species of the genus Mantidactylus found during field inventories in the north-eastern rainforests of Madagascar. Mantidactylus salegy sp. n. reaches a snout-vent length of 45-50 mm, has evident dorsolateral ridges and whitish spots on the upper jaws (mainly in females). The vocal sacs in males are distinctly visible and paired subgular, without strongly inflatable areas recognizable between the blackish lateral skin flaps on the throat. This frog exhibits a mosaic of characters previously thought to be typical for either the subgenera Gephyromantis or Phylacomantis. Therefore, it is a crucial discovery towards better understanding of the relationships between the taxa included in these two subgenera, supporting previous molecular results which indicated their paraphyly. The call of M. salegy consists of a rapid series of 8-11 rattling notes emitted at 1000-3500 Hz. We also provide karyological data for M. salegy, and for several related species, M. granulatus, M. leucomaculatus, M. moseri, M. redimitus, M. zavona, and M. pseudoasper (attributed to the subgenus Phylacomantis) and M. luteus (subgenus Gephyromantis). In terms of general chromosome morphology and structure, NOR localisation and heterochromatin characteristics, M. salegy shows similarities to M. redimitus, M. zavona and M. leucomaculatus, all included within Phylacomantis. Our data confirm that NOR position is a phylogenetically informative character.

A new, probably endemic species, Orobanche mlokosiewiczii (Orobanchaceae) is described from Georgia, in the Greater Caucasus. The species grows near waterfalls, on slopes with thermo-hygrophilous subalpine tall herbaceous vegetation, and is exclusively parasitic of another endemic species: Aconitum cymbulatum. It is a graceful whitish or pale white-yellow plant, characterised by campanulate flowers and usually a very wide open throat of corolla. So far, for the Orobanche parasite on Aconitum (exlusively A. lycoctonum) only one species O. lycoctoni is known—occurring in the Cantabrian Mts. in Spain and in the Alps. A detailed description, diagnosis, illustrations, and comparison with possible related species (O. lycoctoni, O. krylowii, O. inulae, O. flava subsp. cicerbitae) are provided. We also present phylogenetic analysis, and nomenclatural notes about the above species, and a lectotype of O. inulae is designated. Moreover, inside the Orobanche sect. Orobanche, a new combination Orobanche subsect. Curvatae and a new series Orobanche ser. Krylowianae are proposed and their types are designated.

Sorbus dolichofoliolatus (Rosaceae) sp. nov. from Yunnan Province, China, is described and illustrated based on the collections deposited at the herbarium CDBI. The new species is similar to S. rehderiana in infructescence with sparsely rust-brown short hairs, fruit size, and glabrescent leaflets, but the former has longer and wider leaflets, persistent stipules and pinkish fruit color. A molecular phylogenetic analysis supports that the new species is distinguishable from related species in the genus.

A new species, Helianthemum raskebdanae (H. sect. Helianthemum), is described from the maritime cliffs of north-eastern Morocco. It is easy to identify because of its glabrous and fleshy leaves with swollen reddish pulvinules at the petiole base, glabrous sepals with only minute stellate hairs on one margin, and large pinkish to purple petals. The new species is only known from three small, isolated sites, and it is here considered as Endangered (EN). Although it superficially resembles the Algerian H. maritimum, its combination of character-states is not found in the latter nor in any other related species of the section, i.e. H. apenninum, H. dianicum, H. scopulicola and H. virgatum, which warrants its recognition at the species rank. Micromorphological data support the proposed taxonomic treatment. Furthermore, nomenclatural types are designated for H. maritimum and H. maritimum f. albiflorum, two close Algerian relatives.

Abstract A New Species of Dolichopus (Diptera, Dolichopodidae) from Japan. Negrobov, O. P., Fursov, V. N., Selivanova, O. V. - Dolichopus satoi Negrobov, Fursov et Selivanova, sp. n. is described from Japan and compared with a closely related species, D. mediovenus Negrobov, 1977 which is recorded from Japan for the first time. The pictures of morphological features of both species are given.
