A new genus and species, Mirimordella gracilicruralis gen. et sp. nov., in the subfamily Praemordellinae of Mordellidae, is described and illustrated based on a nearly complete fossil specimen. It is from the Yixian Formation of western Liaoning Province, NE China. The diagnosis of the subfamily Praemordellinae is emended based on this new species. Characters such as simple and linear maxillary palpi, simple claws, simple penultimate segments of fore and middle tarsi, small hind coxal plates, slender hind femora, only apical ridges on hind tibiae and tarsi, and no elongated last tergum suggest that Praemordellinae might be the precursor of modern mordellids. The resemblance between the new species and the Late Jurassic Praemordella martynovi indicates close relationships between them and with the tribe Stenaliini in the subfamily Mordellinae. The position of epicoxa and slender hind femur suggest that the new species may be more primitive than Praemordella martynovi and may indicate the age of the Yixian Formation no later than Late Jurassic.

In this paper a new species Cretonanophyes zherikhini sp. nov. and a new genus and species Abrocar brachyorhinos gen. et sp. nov., all placed within the family Eccoptarthridae, are described and illustrated. They pertain to the Late Jurassic Yixian Formation of the western Liaoning province, China. This finding represents the first record of fossil eccoptarthrids from China.

A new genus and species of well-preserved fossil Staphylinidae is described and illustrated. Glabrimycetoporus amoenus Yue, Zhao & Ren, gen. et sp. nov. is assigned to the tribe Mycetoporini in the subfamily Tachyporinae based on the following characters: head more or less inserted into prothorox, the tenth abdominal tergite broad and oblong; antennal insertions exposed and located anterior to a line drawn between anterior edges of eyes; body strongly tapered to the narrow head and abdominal apex. The specimen was discovered in the Upper Jurassic–Lower Cretaceous Yixian Formation of Beipiao City, Liaoning Province, NE China.

A new genus and two new species of fossil Elateridae are described and illustrated: Paralithomerus gen. nov., P. exquisitus sp. nov, and P. parallelus sp. nov. Both species were collected from the Late Jurassic-Early Cretaceous Yixian Formation of western Liaoning, China. Fossil elaterids expressing a sutured mesoventrite have been otherwise discovered only from the Upper Jurassic strata of Karatau.

Mathesius liaoningensis, a new genus and species of Cleroidea, probably relative of clerid or thaneroclerid branches of the superfamily, is described from the Lower Cretaceous; it belongs among the oldest and the best preserved cleroid fossils that have been known so far. The unique specimen was found in Yixian Formation (ca. 125 Ma) near Huangbanjigou Village, Beipiao City, Liaoning Province, NE China and belongs to the famous Chinese Jehol Biota. A classification of Mathesius liaoningensis gen. et sp. nov. within Cleroidea is based on cucujiform aedeagus with distinct medial apodeme (strut) and probably paired struts of the phallobase, pentamerous mesoand metatarsi, narrowly separated proand mesocoxae, metacoxae extending laterally to meet elytra. A possible relationship with the clerid or thaneroclerid branches is based on predacious mandibles, absence of large spines in tibiae, lobes at least in mesoand metatarsomeres 2–3 (probably 1–4), probably six visible abdominal ventrites, and shape of body. With the exception of the aforementioned features, the well-preserved fossil shows interesting morphological characters which are figured in detail and discussed in the context of morphology of some recent cucujiform families.

A new genus and two new species of the extinct family Hexagenitidae, Epicharmeropsis hexavenulosus gen. et sp. nov. and Epicharmeropsis quadrivenulosus sp. nov., are described from the Late Jurassic-Early Cretaceous Yixian Formation, Hebei and Liaoning Provinces in China. Detailed description and illustration of the specimens along with a brief review of Hexagenitidae are given. By comparing with the imago specimens of so-called Ephemeropsis which were previously reported from China, we believe these Ephemeropsis-like specimens should be placed into Epicharmeropsis gen. nov. and Ephemeropsis Eichwald could be absent in China.

An extinct new family of flower bugs, Vetanthocoridae fam. nov., with 2 new tribes, Vetanthocorini and Crassicerini, 8 new genera, and 9 new species (Byssoidecerus levigatus gen. & sp. nov., Collivetanthocoris rapax gen. & sp. nov., Vetanthocoris decorus gen. & sp. nov., Vetanthocoris longispicus gen. & sp. nov., Curvicaudus ciliatus gen. & sp. nov., Mecopodus xanthos gen. & sp. nov., Pustulithoracalis gloriosus gen. & sp. nov., Curticerus venustus gen. & sp. nov., and Crassicerus furtivus gen. & sp. nov.) are described from the Late Jurassic Yixian Formation in western Liaoning Province, China. These fossil records suggest there was an important diversity of flower bugs in the earlier Late Jurassic of northern China. A key to four flower-bug families and a key to the known fossil flower bugs are provided.

A new genus Mirabythus Cai, Shih et Ren, gen. nov. (type species, M. lechrius Cai, Shih et Ren, sp. nov.) and M. liae Cai, Shih et Ren, sp. nov. from the family Scolebythidae are described from the Early Cretaceous Yixian Formation of Huangbanjigou Village, Liaoning Province, northeastern China. These findings extend the existence of Scolebythidae to the Early Cretaceous of China, while providing evidence to support Engel and Grimaldi’s hypothesis that the family was widely distributed throughout the Cretaceous. Our two new species with clear venation also provide a comprehensive understanding of the venational changes from the Early Cretaceous to now. A key to the fossil and extant genera of Scolebythidae is provided.

A new genus and species of fossil trachypachid Fortiseode pervalimand Jia & Ren gen. et sp. nov., is described and illustrated. The new fossil with large and strong mandibles, short and robust legs, and pronotum widest near apical angle differs from other members of Eodromeinae. It is the first record of fossil trachypachid from the Mesozoic Yixian Formation of Huangbanjigou, Liaoning, China.

A new genus and species of the extinct family Weitschatidae, Criniverticillus longicumulus gen. et sp. nov. (Hemiptera: Coccomorpha), is described and illustrated from mid-Cretaceous Burmese amber. The new species is based on a fossil specimen with complete body, wings and antennae. The family diagnosis is updated to include similarities between Criniverticillus, Pseudoweitschatus and Weitschatus. An identification key to species of Weitschatidae is provided.

A new genus with a new species (Shoushida regilla gen. et sp. nov.) of pelecinid wasps is described and illustrated. The fossil has been collected from the Upper Jurassic to Lower Cretaceous of Yixian Formation at Huangbanjigou Village, Liaoning Province, China. The new species has vein Rs forking to two branches: Rs 1 straight and reaching wing margin much before apex and Rs 2 long, forming an “X” pattern together with 2r-rs. This finding represents the earliest fossil record of subfamily Pelecininae in the world up to date. Sexual dimorphism in Pelecinidae is briefly discussed.
