A new species of oribatid mite of the family Oppiidae Sellnick, 1937, Anomaloppia mazandaranica sp. n., is described from Mazandaran province, Northern Iran. The new species is characterized by its long sensillus with a fusiform-clavate head and 6-7 long barbs; interlamellar seta as long as lamellar and rostral setae; notogastral setae finely barbed and seta lm as long as others; and a long solenidion on genu I.

A new species, Stigmocheylus persicus sp. nov. (Trombidiformes: Prostigmata: Stigmocheylidae) is described based on adult females from Noor, Mazandaran province, northern Iran. The new species can be distinguished from other species by the following features: non-segmented peritremes; absence of setae c3; presence of setae g2; coxa II with four setae; genu I with nine setae; tarsi I–IV with 24(+2ω)–11(+1ω)-11-10 setae. This finding presents the first new species of the family Stigmocheylidae Berlese, 1910 from Asia. Additionally, an identification key to known species of Stigmocheylus is updated.

A new species of zerconid mites, Prozercon caspiansis sp. nov. is described based on female, male, and protonymph specimens collected from different forestland areas in Mazandaran Province, northern Iran. In addition, the male and larval specimens of P. dominiaki Błaszak were found in the same region and described for the first time. An updated key for the Iranian Prozercon species is provided, and the situation of the Iranian genera and species of the family is briefly discussed.

A new species of oribatid mite of the family Galumnidae, Pergalumna sistanbaluchestanica sp. nov., is described and illustrated based on adult specimens from soil in Sistan and Baluchestan province, southeastern Iran. The new species is characterized by dentate rostrum; long interlamellar setae; long, setiform, finely barbed bothridial setae; complete dorsosejugal furrow; large, nearly triangular porose areas Aa; presence of median pore in females and males; large, elongated postanal porose area and large body size. The new species is most similar morphologically to P. seminervosa Mahunka & Mahunka-Papp, 2008, however, differs from it in morphology of bothridial setae and notogastral porose areas Aa and also by the surface ornamentation of the pteromorphs and genital plates; localization of setal alveoli la and lyrifissures im and body size. An identification key to known species of Pergalumna from the Palaearctic region is given.

The oribatid mite family Astegistidae is represented in Mongolia by four species in two genera. A new species, Cultroribula taigagica sp. nov., collected from cool temperate forests in Northern Mongolia is described based on adults. In addition, three known species, Astegistes pilosus (C.L. Koch, 1840), Cultroribula dentata Willmann, 1950 and Cultroribula vtorovi Krivolutsly, 1971 are recorded for the first time from Mongolia, which are redescribed along with data on their distribution and ecology. A key to Mongolian species of Astegistidae is given.

A new species of the genus Aethiophenax Mahunka, 1981 (Acari: Prostigmata: Acarophenacidae), A. mycetophagi Arjomandi and Hajiqanbar sp. nov., is described and illustrated based on adult females. Mites were collected from the beneath elytra of hairy fungus beetles, Mycetophagus quadripustulatus (Linnaeus, 1761) (Col.: Tenebrionoidea: Mycetophagidae) grazing on oyster mushrooms on a bough of a tree in Mazandaran province, northern Iran. The new species, as fourth representative of the genus, is characterized by all dorsal setae thin and relatively long (26–35) in comparison with those of congeners; all ventral setae thin, setae 2a longest and 1b shortest of venter of idiosoma; tibiotarsus I with solenidion φ slightly clavate and as long as ω; tarsi II with seta pl” modified and spine-like; genu III with two setae (l’ and v’). A key to the world species of the genus is also provided.

A new species of the laelapid mite genus Gaeolaelaps Evans & Till, G. tuberculatus sp. nov., is described from female specimens collected in soil and rotten leaves under citrus trees in Mazandaran province, northern Iran. Supplementary information on G. deinos (Zeman) is presented. Gaeolaelaps schusteri (Hirschmann) is redescribed based on the type specimens as well as additional specimens collected from the littoral zone of mangrove forests in Qeshm Island, in the eastern part of the Persian Gulf, southern Iran.

Oribatid mite species of the family Galumnidae, Galumna (Galumna) parakazakhstani sp. nov., is described from litter of pine plantation in Dong Nai Culture and Nature Reserve (southern Vietnam). The new species is most similar to G. (G.) kazakhstani Krivolutskaya, 1952, however, it differs from the latter by the body size, morphology of bothridial setae and notogastral porose areas A1, development of anterior notogastral margin, and location of medial pore.

Haplochthoniidae is a small family within the superfamily Cosmochthonioidea and consists of only two genera and 17 species. In this paper a new species, Haplochthonius (Haplochthonius) longiapophysus sp. nov., is described and illustrated based on adult specimens sampled from soil in Sistan and Baluchestan province, southeastern Iran. The new species is characterised by very long prominent rostral apophyses; blade-like prodorsal and notogastral setae; genital plates with six and anal and adanal plates each with four pairs of setae, an1, ad1 and ad2 thicker than other ano-adanal setae; epimeral setation 3-2-2-3; solenidion φ of tibiae I very long, solenidion ω of tarsi I longer than famulus, seta d longer than solenidion on tibiae II and III. The new species is morphologically very similar to Haplochthonius (Haplochthonius) sanctaeluciae Bernini, 1973, however, the most significant differences between them is in the morphology of rostral apophyses and number and size of genital setae. The family Haplochthoniidae is recorded for the first time from Sistan and Baluchestan province. An updated diagnostic key to the adults of known species of Haplochthonius (Haplochthonius) is given.

Pilogalumna khorasanica sp. nov. is characterised by rounded rostrum; very long interlamellar setae; long, nearly setiform, finely bilaterally barbed bothridial setae; medially interrupted dorsosejugal furrow; elongated porose areas A2, very long and narrow, ribbon shaped A3 and large body size. The new species is most similar morphologically to Pilogalumna crassiclava longiareata (Pérez-Íñigo, 1976), however, differs from it in morphology of bothridial setae and structure of notogastral porose areas, by the presence of longer interlamellar setae and larger body size. An updated identification key to known species of Pilogalumna is presented.

A list of identified oribatid mite taxa from Uganda, including 21 species/subspecies from 17 genera and 14 families, is presented. A new species of the family Machadobelbidae is described from leaf litter. Machadobelba ugandaensis sp. nov. differs from Machadobelba barbata Sanyal, Saha & Chakraborty, 2005 and Machadobelba dispar Balogh, 1958 by the presence of one pair of lateral teeth of the rostrum, prodorsal transverse ridge between costulae and foveolate body surface. Revised generic diagnosis and an identification key to the known species of Machadobelba are presented.
