Four new species of Alcyonium (Octocorallia: Alcyoniidae) are described from Chile. They occur in the shallow waters of the southern fjord region. One of them is an encrusting species, the other three form digitate colonies. Encrusting forms of A. grandis Casas et al., 1997, and A. haddoni Wright & Studer, 1889 were also found in the fjord region, bringing the number of Alcyonium species recorded for Chile to eight. For all six recently collected species SEM images of sclerites are presented, and a key to the Chilean Alcyonium species is included.

A new species of Afroboletus, namely A. sequestratus, is described from Zambia. Evidence from molecular phylogenetic analyses using sequences rpb1, rpb2 and tef1α and morphological comparison support its placement in Afroboletus and it is distinct from the other related members of this genus in Africa. It is the first species with sequestrate basidiomata in the genus. A morphological description is augmented with line drawings and SEM images for the species.

Scapania marsupelloides is described as new to science based on collection from Yunnan, China. The species looks different from the other known Scapania species and similar to Marsupella sphacelata. Molecular phylogenic analyses of ITS1-2 and trnL–trnF sequences suggested the close affinity of Scapania marsupelloides to S. contorta of the subgenus Ascapania. Description, line drawings, color and SEM images, and keys for differentiation of S. marsupelloides from S. cuspiduligera, S. contorta, S. pseudocontorta, S. hians and Marsupella sphacelata are provided.

The genus Heterogorgia is reported for the first time from the shallow waters of the Galápagos Archipelago, and a new species found in the southern islands is described. The new species is distinguished from the other species of the genus described thus far by having thick branches with large, densely packed calyces, being mostly unbranched, and having larger sclerites. The occurrence of Heterogorgia verrucosa is also reported.

A new species of squat lobster, Babamunida debrae, was found in shallow waters of the west coast of Hawai‘i. It is readily distinguished from all the other species of the genus by the presence of a pair of spines on the second abdominal tergite. Babamunida debrae is the second species of the genus from Hawaii and seventh species of the genus from the Indo-Pacific.

Abstract—Turnera macrosperma, a new species from the Brazilian Cerrado, is described and illustrated. The new species belongs to the series Turnera and can be characterized by the white petals with dark blue/violet basal spot and large seeds with papillose aril. SEM images, distribution map, and comments on taxonomy and morphology are presented.

Study of selected specimens of Gymnomitrion collected by D. G. Long in Yunnan, China, revealed a new species, G. fissum Mamontov et Potemkin, sp. nov., with a fissured leaf surface. Comparison of SEM images of the leaf surface and leaf cross sections shows that the leaf surface of G. fissum is different from that of other known species with a superficially similar leaf surface, i. e. Mylia taylorii, M. verrucosa s. l. and Trabacellula tumidula. It has fissures around the cell lumen rather than grids and perforations. Outer cell walls of Gymnomitrion fissum are much thicker than in Mylia taylorii, M. verrucosa s. l. and Trabacellula tumidula, and their outer layers tend to be partly or completely caducous. G. fissum is related to the group of species assigned to the former genus Apomarsupella.

More than ten new species of colonial volvocine algae were described in world literature during recent years. In present review, the published data on taxonomy, geographical distribution and the species problem in this group of algae, mainly from the genera Gonium, Pandorina, Eudorina, and Volvox, are critically discussed. There are both cosmopolitan volvocalean species and species with local or disjunct distribution. On the other hand, the description of new cryptic taxa in some genera of the colonial family Volvocaceae, such as Pandorina and Volvox, complicates the preparation of a comprehensive review on their geography.

A total of 14 species in seven tingid genera have been described from the mid-Cretaceous Burmese (Kachin) amber from northern Myanmar, with very distinct paleofauna. Here, a new species of a new genus, Burmavianaida anomalocapitata gen. et sp. nov., is described from Kachin amber. This new species can be readily distinguished from the other described tingid taxa by the apparently smaller body and the structures of the pronotum and hemelytron. Burmavianaida gen. nov. shares the diagnostic characters with two clades composed of three extant subfamilies (Cantacaderinae + Tinginae) and Vianaidinae and may represent an extinct clade distinct from them. To the best of our knowledge, B. anomalocapitata sp. nov. is the smallest species of Tingidae among over 2600 described species. Our new finding supports the hypothesis of the miniaturization phenomenon of insects in Kachin amber, as suggested by previous studies.

Camelinaneglecta is described as a new diploid species and its relationship to the other diploids of the genus and to the somewhat superficially similar tetraploid C.rumelica and hexaploid C.microcarpa, are discussed. SEM of seed and stem trichomes of the new species are presented.

Three new species of Triplonychus Candèze, T. cruspinosus sp. nov., T. crassifemoris sp. nov. and T. tibialatus sp. nov., and a new species of Globothorax Fleutiaux, G. latidens sp. nov., from Brazil are described. Illustrations, photographic and SEM images are presented. A review of the diagnostic generic characters and a key to the species of Triplonychus and Globothorax from Brazil are also given.
