We describe here a new species of Pseudopaludicola (P. murundu sp. nov.) that is found in the central portion of the state of São Paulo, Brazil. This new species is related to P. saltica, from which it distinguishes by the presence of a single, dark, and subgular vocal sac with dark longitudinal folds in males, immaculate to light brown nuptial pads in males that cover the external part of the finger I, from the wrist to the second phalanx, and 11 pairs of chromosomes without heteromorphic sex chromosomes. From all other species of the genus it distinguishes by presenting very long hindlimbs, with tibio-tarsal articulation reaching beyond the end of the snout, and absence of T-shaped terminal phalanges. Tadpoles, advertisement call, and the karyotype are described as well.

A new species of the genus Holoaden is described from the Atlantic forest of the state of São Paulo, Brazil, being restricted to primary or slightly disturbed high altitude cloud forests along the northeastern portion of the Serra do Mar. The typelocality is determined as Estação Ecológica de Bananal, in the Municipality of Bananal, State of São Paulo, Brazil. The new species is characterized by its moderate body size (female 42.6–44.2 mm SVL; male 37.2–38.5 mm SVL) with long and slender limbs, a head wider than long, a highly glandular dorsum, covered by well developed macroglands that extend to the internasal region, thigh and tibia, and an intense dark brown dorsal coloration and dark grey ventral surface.

Miconia goldenbergiana, a new species from the Atlantic Forest in southeastern Brazil, is described and illustrated. The new species have been extensively collected since the end of the XIX century but have been confused with M. budlejoides and M. formosa, species that also have discolorous and suprabasal leaves and glomerulate inflorescences. From the first species, it can be distinguished by papyraceous leaves with the abaxial surface covered by lepidote trichomes. From the second species, it can be distinguished also by the texture of leaves, and by its narrower size, crenulate to serrulate margins and acute base, besides the smaller size of the flowers. The new species is known from the states of Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro and eastern São Paulo, and is in danger of extinction.

A new species of Branchiomaldane was identified in a collection of polychaetes living in colonies of a stony coral. Branchiomaldane maryae sp. nov. differs from all other species of the genus by the presence of lensed eyes and 1–3 branchial filaments per parapodium. Comparisons between B. maryae sp. nov. and the other species of the genus are provided, together with some phylogenetic considerations on the position of the genus.

A new species of Pacholenus Schoenherr from southeastern Brazil (Coleoptera, Curculionidae, Molytinae), and new occurrences of species of the genus. Pacholenus monteiroi sp. nov. (type-locality Brazil, Rio de Janeiro state, Carapebus, Parque Nacional da Restinga de Jurubatiba) is described and illustrated. The weevil develops as a stem gall-former in Calyptranthes brasiliensis Spreng (Myrtaceae). The new species is easily distinguished from the other five known of the genus by the presence of a prominent supra-ocular ridge. An updated key for identification for all species of Pacholenus is provided. Three species of Pacholenus are presently recorded for the states of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo; P. pelliceus and P. monteiroi occur in both states, while P. penicillus is only known from Rio de Janeiro; P. hispidus occurs in São Paulo, being the most widespread species of the genus, ranging from Minas Gerais south to Santa Catarina.

Fissimentum mendesi n. sp. é descrita e ilustrada com base em machos coletados com armadilhas luminosas em duas localidades no estado de São Paulo, Brasil. A nova espécie é aparentemente relacionada a F. desiccatum Cranston & Nolte, 1996 e F. guairense Pinho & Froehlich, 2011 por apresentar uma projeção posterior no tergito IX, mas pode ser facilmente separada de seus congêneres pela combinação de uma volsela superior curta, robusta, uniformemente curva, e AR em torno de 1,5. Uma chave revisada para os machos do gênero é fornecida.

Description of a new species of Diaptomidae (Crustacea, Copepoda, Calanoida) Notodiaptomus oliveirai is given from the material obtained at a reservoir at Barra Bonita, SP in 1992. The new species is very similar to Notodiaptomus henseni Dahl 1894 although both species can be found in the same locality, constituting two distinct populations. Notodiaptomus oliveirai seems to be endowed with great adaptability to changes in environmental conditions, extending its distribution to all the hydrographic basins in the state of São Paulo.

A new species of phytoseiid mites is described from Brazil, Typhlodromus moraesi sp. nov., collected on Tabebuia alba (Cham.) Sandwith and Chamaesyce hirta (L.) Millsp. in the State of São Paulo. This is the second species of the T. arizonicus group.

Two new species of terebellid polychaetes are described, from material collected from the intertidal zone to 45 m deep off the State of São Paulo, southeastern Brazil. The thelepodine Pseudostreblosoma brevitentaculatum sp. nov., is characterised by short, distally expanded tentacles, the presence of a mid-ventral lobe on segment 1 and short lateral lobes on segments 2–4, and by the arrangement of branchial filaments. The species is compared to both other known species of the genus. The terebelline Phisidia rubra sp. nov. differs from its congeners by its smaller size, and by having up to four eyespots at each lateral margin of prostomium, close to the mouth, about 5 rows of secondary teeth above uncinial main fang, uncini arranged in double rows on segments 11–20, 14 pairs of notopodia and by anterior segments being dorsally inflated. Phisidia rubra sp. nov. is compared to its closest congeners and a table comparing all known species of Phisidia is provided.

A bryological survey in southeastern Brazil revealed a new liverwort species, Diplasiolejeunea cubatensis from São Paulo State. The new species stands out having leaves without ocelli, cells with trigones and intermediate thickenings, flat lobules, very small underleaves which are as wide as stem, underleaf lobes only 2 cells wide at base and with the tip ending in a row of 2 cells, monoicous sexuality and perianths 5-keeled only in the upper half. The new species is described, illustrated and briefly discussed.
