This paper studies the taxonomy of the genus Xanthophius Motschulsky, 1860 (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae, Staphylininae, Xantholinini). Two new species are described from China: Xanthophius unicidentatus sp. n. from Yunnan, Zhejiang, Guangxi and Hainan, and X. gutianshanensis sp. n. from Zhejiang. The number of species of Xanthophius therefore increased to eight. The elaborate structures of the everted endophallus of X. filum (Kraatz, 1859) is described for the first time and illustrated with a color plate. A key to eight species and their geographical distribution map are provided. The type specimens of the new species are deposited in the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IZ-CAS).

The Chinese species of Cleopomiarus Pierce, 1919 (Curculionidae, Curculioninae, Mecinini) are revised. Six taxa are reported: two already know from China (C. distinctus (Boheman, 1845), C. vestitus (Roelofs, 1875)), two cited for the first time from this country (C. flavoscutellatus (Morimoto, 1959), C. graminis (Gyllenhal, 1813)), and two new to science (C. danfengensis Jiang & Caldara n. sp., C. nuerhachii Jiang & Caldara n. sp.). The following new synonymy is proposed: C. distinctus (Boheman, 1845) = Miarus longirostris mandschuricus Voss, 1952 n. syn. Diagnosis, description or redescription, comparative notes and distribution are reported for each species. Dorsal and lateral habitus, as well as details of rostra and genitalia are illustrated. Finally, a key to the species is provided. Type specimens are deposited in the National Zoological Museum of China in the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing, China.

AbstractTwo new species from northern China, Pissodes chenisp. nov. and Pissodes pilatsquamosussp. nov., are described from Pinus and Picea, respectively. Pissodes harcyniae (Herbst) is recorded from China and P. nitidus Roelofs is recorded from Russia for the first time. A key is provided to the eight Pissodes species known from China. A list of the 18 known Palearctic species with synonyms, host data, and distribution is also included. Type specimens for the two new species are deposited in the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China.

The taxonomy of the genus Clytra Laicharting, 1781 occurring in China is studied. Two new species are described: Clytra (Clytraria) tanae sp. nov. from Qinghai and Yunnan, and Clytra (Clytraria) truncatula sp. nov. from Xinjiang. The Chinese fauna of the genus is thus increased to 13 species/subspecies in total. Keys to the Chinese genera of Clytrini and to Chinese species of Clytra are provided in addition to color plates and line drawings of habitus, maxilla, labium, male genitalia and spermatheca, which facilitates species identification; geographic distributions of 12 species/subspecies are mapped. The type specimens are deposited in Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China.

The genus Naddia Fauvel, 1867 belongs to the subtribe Staphylinina (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae) and its species occur mainly in the Palaearctic and Oriental Regions. Three new species are described from South China: Naddia hainanensis Yang & Zhou, sp. n. (Hainan), N. mangshanensis Yang & Zhou, sp. n. (Hunan, Guangdong and Fujian), and N. nanlingensis Yang & Zhou, sp. n. (Guangdong). Naddia miniata Fauvel, 1895 is recordered for the first time from the territory of China. Naddia chinensis Bernhauer, 1929 and N. miniata are redescribed. Male aedeagus and other critical characters are illustrated. The type specimens are deposited in the Institute of Zoology, the Chinese Academy of Sciences (IZCAS) and Naturhistorisches Museum Wien (NMW).

This paper reviews the tribe Paromalini Reitter (Coleoptera, Histeridae) of China. Five new species are described: Carcinops penatii Zhang & Zhou, n. sp. from Sichuan, Platylomalus inflexus Zhang & Zhou, n. sp. and Eulomalus rugosus Zhang & Zhou, n. sp. from Hainan, Paromalus acutangulus Zhang & Zhou, n. sp. from Yunnan, and Paromalus tibetanus Zhang & Zhou, n. sp. from Xizang. The genus Diplostix Bickhardt and nine species of this and other genera are recorded for the first time in China. They are Diplostix vicaria (Cooman, 1935), Pachylomalus deficiens Cooman, 1933, Platylomalus submetallicus (Lewis, 1892), Platylomalus tonkinensis (Cooman, 1937), Eulomalus amplipes Cooman, 1937, Eulomalus pupulus Cooman, 1937, Eulomalus seitzi Cooman, 1941, Eulomalus vermicipygus Cooman, 1937, Paromalus parallelepipedus (Herbst, 1792). According to our study, the Chinese fauna of the tribe Paromalini is now comprised of six genera and twenty-seven species. Keys to these genera and species are presented. The taxonomic position of Pachylomalus deficiens Cooman is discussed. All the type specimens are deposited in the Institute of Zoology, the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Longchuanacris lobata Niu et Ou, sp. nov. and L. microfurcula Niu et Zheng, sp. nov. are described as new species. Six Longchuanacris species are keyed and their distributions are stated. These species are distributed in southwestern Yunnan, China. Type specimens are deposited in the Faculty of Conservation Biology, Southwest Forestry University (SWFU), Yunnan Province, China and in the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China (IZCAS).
