To explore the phylogenetic relationships of the subfamily Centrotinae from the mitochondrial genome data, four complete mitogenomes (Anchon lineatus, Anchon yunnanensis, Gargara genistae and Tricentrus longivalvulatus) were sequenced and analyzed. All the newly sequenced mitogenomes contain 37 genes. Among the 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs) of the Centrotinae mitogenomes, a sliding window analysis and the ratio of Ka/Ks suggest that atp8 is a relatively fast evolving gene, while cox1 is the slowest. All PCGs start with ATN, except for nad5 (start with TTG), and stop with TAA or the incomplete stop codon T, except for nad2 and cytb (terminate with TAG). All tRNAs can fold into the typical cloverleaf secondary structure, except for trnS1, which lacks the dihydrouridine (DHU) arm. The BI and ML phylogenetic analyses of concatenated alignments of 13 mitochondrial PCGs among the major lineages produce a well-resolved framework. Phylogenetic analyses show that Membracoidea, Smiliinae and Centrotinae, together with tribes Centrotypini and Leptobelini are recovered as well-supported monophyletic groups. The tribe Gargarini (sensu Wallace et al.) and its monophyly are supported.

In the course of expeditions conducted on the Balkan Peninsula by Ignác Richter in 2004–2019, altogether 45 species of Cochylini moths were collected. The examination of the collected specimens revealed one new species of the genus Aethes: Aethes larissae sp. nov., from the North Macedonia. Additionally, a new subspecies, Aethes kindermanniana macedonica ssp. nov. is described from the North Macedonia too. Phtheochroa amasiana (Ragonot, 1894) and Cochylimorpha erlebachi Huemer & Trematerra, 1997 are recorded from the Balkans for the first time. A male of Aethes eichleri Razowski, 1983 is collected for the first time, and DNA barcoding data of this species was obtained. We established a new synonymy: Aethes eichleri Razowski, 1983 syn. nov. of Aethes francillana (Fabricius, 1794). Illustrations of specimens and photographs of the genitalia of all described taxa are provided.

A list of 101 species of hoverflies recorded from three high altitudinal belts in the Eastern Sayan mountain region is given. Most species belong to the subfamilies Syrphinae (60 species) and Eristalinae (38 species), while Pipizinae and Microdontinae are presented by two and one species, respectively. Totally, 96 species were found in the forest zone, 37 species were found in the mountain tundra and only Platycheirus chilosia has been caught in the golsty belt. New synonymy is established: Melangyna arctica (Zetterstedt, 1838) = Melangyna soszynskii Mielczarek, 2013 syn. n., = Melangyna tsherepanovi (Violovitsh, 1965) syn. n.

A new subgenus of the genus Manulea Wallengren, 1863, Tortrilema subgen. n. is described and briefly reviewed. A new species, M. nubes sp. n. is described from North Vietnam. A new synonymy is established: Manulea (Nyea) Agenjo, 1983 = Manulea (Agenjoa) Dubatolov & Zolotuhin, 2011, syn. nov.

Investigation of a large collection of Neuroptera from Northeastern Nigeria stored untouched in alcohol for four decades in the National Museum of Natural History, Sofia, provided the opportunity to examine unpublished specimens and conduct a thorough review of published literature, establishing the first comprehensive inventory of Ascalaphidae, Palparidae, and Myrmeleontidae of Northeastern Nigeria to date. Specimens had been collected between 1976 and 1978 in Northeastern Nigeria, mostly in Jos City and Plateau State. Five species of Ascalaphidae, four of Palparidae, and 26 of Myrmeleontidae were identified. Bankisus beroni sp. n. and Creoleon nigrithorax sp. n. are described. Gymnoleon gaillardi is not considered a synonym of Gymnoleon exilis and a new synonymy is established: Gymnoleon externus (Navás, 1911) (= Gymnoleon gaillardi Navás, 1912, syn. n.). An examination of unpublished specimens in museum collections and an exhaustive literature review were conducted in order to draw up a comprehensive inventory of the fauna of Northeastern Nigeria, which to date comprises 11 species of Ascalaphidae, 12 species of Palparidae, and 34 species of Myrmeleontidae, of which one species of Ascalaphidae, two species of Palparidae, and 16 species of Myrmeleontidae, as well as the genera Brevibarbis, Bankisus, and Capicua, had not been reported to occur in Nigeria. The chorological information on the genus Bankisus is reviewed, the ranges of the species are critically discussed and corrected, and all known localities are indicated on a map. Bankisus oculatus is reported for the first time from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The first recording of Centroclisis lineatipennis in West Africa is reported. Palpares cataractae and Palpares radiatus are deleted from the list of Nigerian fauna. With these new records, the known ranges of eight species are extended by more than 1400 km. In the process of assessing the geographical distribution of species present in Northeastern Nigeria, six species, as well as the genera Myrmecaelurus and Cueta and the tribe Nesoleontini, are reported for the first time from Burkina Faso.

The aim of this study is to deepen the knowledge of five poorly studied Longitarsus species in order to elucidate their taxonomic position within the genus. For each of them further diagnostic characters and many new collecting localities are supplied. One new synonymy and one change of status are proposed: L. callidus Warchalowski 1967 = L. aphthonoides Weise 1887 syn. nov., and L. lateripunctatus personatus Weise 1893 is raised to valid species. The morphologically similar L. curtus (Allard 1860) and L. monticola Kutschera 1863 are also examined, providing new male and female diagnostic characters for their identification, as well as several European and Italian new collecting localities.

A new species of Euphranta, E. flavothoracica David, Hancock & Sachin, sp. n. is described from India and placed in the zeylanica group of species. Postabdominal structures of E. cassiae (Munro), E. crux (Fabricius) and E. klugii (Wiedemann) are described. A revised key to the 16 species of Euphranta known from India is provided. A new generic and specific synonymy is established: Euphranta Loew, 1862 = Ichneumonomacula Chen, 2020, syn. n. and Dacus figuratus Walker, 1856 (=Euphranta figurata (Walker, 1856))= Ichneumonomacula wangyongi Chen, 2020, syn. n.

In the study, microphthalmous species of the genus Lathrobium Gravenhorst from northern Anatolia are examined. Two new species are described, illustrated, and distinguished from congeners: Lathrobium kacari sp. n. (Çorum province) and L. celiki sp. n. (Amasya province). A new synonym is proposed: Lathrobium bodemeyeri Bernhauer, 1903 = L. paphlagonicum Assing, 2001 syn. n. An updated key to the microphthalmous Lathrobium species of Turkey is presented. Distributions of microphthalmous Lathrobium species in Anatolia are mapped. A total of eight microphthalmous species is now known from Turkey.

Abstract The monotypic genus Sturmiodexia Townsend, 1919 is a poorly known Neotropical taxon. Herein a new generic synonymy is proposed for this genus: Platyrrhinodexia Townsend, 1927 syn. nov. Two new combinations are assigned for Sturmiodexia: S. moyobambensis (Townsend, 1929) comb nov. and S. punctulata (Townsend, 1927) comb nov. Redescriptions were done for S. punctulata, S. rubescens Townsend 1919 and S. muscaria (Walker 1853). With these new propositions, Sturmiodexia is left with four species. In addition, the male and female terminalia, and the first instar larva, are described and illustrated for the first time for S. punctulata. Finally, a diagnose for Sturmiodexia and a key to all species is given.

The Palaearctic genus Mannerheimia Mäklin, 1880 (Anthophagini) is redescribed. The taxonomic and faunistic data for ten species, including (re-)descriptions of M. arctica (Erichson, 1840), M. asiatica Kastcheev, 1999, M. brevipennis (Motschulsky, 1860), M. pleshanovi sp.n. (Russia: East Siberia, Khamar-Daban Mts.) and M. zanettii sp.n. (Pakistan: Hazara Kaghan Valley) are provided. These species, and M. afghanica Coiffait, 1982, M. japonica Watanabe, 1990, M. obscura Coiffait, 1982, and M. yasudai Watanabe, 1990 are illustrated. A new synonymy is established: M. brevipennis (Motschulsky, 1860) = M. micros (Fauvel, 1900) syn.n. The checklist and a key to the described 23 species of Mannerheimia are provided. The distributions of seven species are mapped: M. arctica, M. asiatica, M. brevipennis, M. obscura, M. pleshanovi sp. n. and M. zanettii. Several species are recorded for the first time from certain regions: M. arctica from Yamalo-Nenets, Khanty-Mansi and Taymyr autonomous regions, Evenkia and Tuva, M. brevipennis from Yamalo-Nenets and Khanty-Mansi autonomous regions, Kemerovo Area, Evenkia, Khakassia and Tuva, M. obscura from Pakistan, and M. yasudai from Sakhalin Island.
