A new species of the genus Ceradocus Costa, 1853 is described from Northeastern Brazil. This species is unique in having: (1) male gnathopod 2 propodus palm ornamented, palmar corner defined by a soft spine; (2) spines along the entire posterior margin of epimeral plate 3, (3) telson with very long apical setae. This new species is the second species of this genus in Brazil. An updated taxonomic key to the Ceradocus of the world is also provided.

The new species is compared both with other Dasyatis species of the southwestern Atlantic and with similarly shaped species of Dasyatis from other areas of the world. The holotype was collected in Maraj Bay; near Colares Island, district of Colares, Bel m, Par State, Brazil. It differs from known Dasyatis species by the combination of the following characters: a diamond-shaped (rhomboid) disc; an elongate snout (preorbital distance ranges from 35.7 to 37.7 % in disc width); a dark, well defined band or dark blotches outlining the lower lips; a row of small tubercles along midline of disc from shoulder region to base of tail, presenting a widespread and random arrangement; posterior margins of pectoral fins uniformly rounded; triangular-shaped pelvic fins with posterior margin almost straight or slightly sinuous and tips exceeding the limits of the posterior margin of disc; dorsal caudal keel absent in the holotype, but vestigial in both paratypes.

Sponges of the Family Pachastrellidae Carter, 1875 are distributed worldwide and found generally in deep water. Up to date, only four species are known for the Brazilian coast (Muricy 2018): Characella aspera Sollas, 1886, C. capitolii Mothes et al. 2007, C. pachastrelloides (Carter, 1876), and Pachastrella monilifera Schmidt, 1868. In this study, a new species of Characella is described from the mesophotic zone off Bacia Potiguar (Rio Grande do Norte State, Northeastern Brazil). The specimen was preserved in 80% ethanol and deposited in the Porifera Collection of the Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (UFPEPOR). Taxonomic comparisons were made with data tabulated for all species of Characella available in the World Porifera Database (van Soest et al. 2018).

Abstract - A new species of Megagrapha Melander, 1927 and a new species of Tachyempis Melander, 1927 are described. The genus Megagrapha is reported from the Neotropical region for the first time. Megagrapha boliviana n. sp. is related to M. pubescens (Loew,1862), from which it differs in having a yellow occipital region, a linear posterior margin along eye, in the shape of the flagellomere, 1 developed humeral seta, 2 notopleural setae, the different costal index of the wing, yellow first and second abdominal segments and other segments brown. Tachyempis bettellai n. sp. is related to T. gagatina Melander, 1927, from which it differs in having the wing entirely infuscate, yellow coxae, yellow fore and midlegs, hindleg with brown femur and apically brown tibia and the different costal index of the wing.Riassunto - Due nuove specie di ditteri Hybotidae della Bolivia con chiave delle specie mondiali di Megagrapha (Diptera). Vengono descritte una nuova specie di Megagrapha Melander, 1927 e una nuova specie di Tachyempis Melander, 1927 della Bolivia. Il genere Megagrapha è nuovo per la Regione Neotropicale. Megagrapha boliviana n. sp. differisce dall’affine M. pubescens (Loew, 1862) per l’area occipitale gialla, il margine posteriore dell’occhio lineare, la struttura del flagellomero, la presenza di una setola omerale, 2 setole notopleurali, il primo e secondo segmento addominale gialli e gli altri bruni e per il differente indice costale dell’ala; Tachyempis bettellai n. sp. differisce dall’affine T. gagatina Melander, 1927 per le ali uniformemente imbrunite, le anche gialle, le zampe anteriori e mediane interamente gialle, il femore posteriore bruno e la tibia posteriore con l’apice bruno, nonché per il differente indice costale dell’ala.

A new species of cynipid gall wasps, Periclistus orientalis Pang, Liu & Zhu, sp. nov., is herein described from Hunan, China in the tribe Diastrophini (Hymenoptera: Cynipoidea: Cynipidae). The phylogenetic relationship between Periclistus and all the other Diastrophini genera, except the recently described XestophanopsisPujade-Villar et al., 2019, was analyzed using a fragment of the mitochondrial COI gene and a fragment of the nuclear 28S gene. A taxonomic key to the known genera of Diastrophini and an updated taxonomic key to the known Eastern Palearctic species of Periclistus were provided. In addition, an updated checklist of the known species of the genus from the world is given.

Geogamasus lasaroi Barros, Azevedo & Castilho sp. nov. is described based on the morphology of adult females collected from soil-litter of a well preserved fragment of the natural vegetation of the Caatinga biome, in Alagoas state, northeastern Brazil. In addition, key information on the morphology of the world Geogamasus species is presented in a tabular format.

Asterocheres Boeck, 1859 is the most speciose genus within the copepod family Asterocheridae Giesbrecht, 1899. Its main hosts are sponges, cnidarians, bryozoans, and echinoderms. Among the latter there are records of Asterocheres associations with some species of the echinoid genus Eucidaris Pomel, 1883. Despite the wide distribution of Eucidaris tribuloides (Lamarck, 1883) in the coastal waters of Brazil, no records exist as yet of any copepod associated with this species. Asterocheres siphunculus sp. nov. is described herein based on samples collected from E. tribuloides sampled from two different sites off the coast of Salvador city, Bahia state, in northeastern Brazil. The new species shares a 20-segmented antennule with 20 congeners, but differs from them by having a very short siphon that reaches the insertion of the maxilla, a very wide rostrum that occupies the entire area between the antennules, and a pedigerous somite 4 with pointed and narrow posterolateral corners and a concave posterior margin.

Gamasellodes lavafesii Castro, Azevedo & Castilho sp. nov. is described based on the morphology of adult females collected from litter and soil in a transition region between Cerrado and Amazon Rainforest of Mato Grosso state and in the Caatinga biome of Alagoas state, respectively in midwestern and northeastern Brazil. A key for the separation of females of the 26 recognisable world species of Gamasellodes is provided.

Eophliantidae are poorly studied marine algal-dwelling amphipods with a wide distribution. A new species was found to excavate burrows across the main stem of Carpophyllum maschalocarpum (Turner) Grev. in the New Zealand subtidal, and a detailed morphological description of this amphipod is given. Bircenna macayai sp. nov. can be distinguished from other Bircenna species by a combination of the following characters: bilobed coxa 1, merus and carpus of pereopods 5–7 strongly extended posteriorly, crenulate basis of pereopod 7 and smooth posterior margin of epimeron 3, pereopod 7 basis longer than wide. A key to the fourteen world species of Eophliantidae is provided. Taxonomy, evolutionary sequences, functional morphology and biogeography of the Eophliantidae are briefly discussed. New Zealand and Australian shallow waters show the highest species diversity of Eophliantidae, containing both species bearing plesiomorphic and highly derived characters, suggesting that Australasia is an evolutionary centre for this amphipod family.

A checklist of Katha species from the World with a taxonomic key to the Oriental species is provided. A new combination, Katha suffusa (Leech), comb. nov. is established, and L. chekiangica Daniel, is synonymized under K. suffusa.

The genus Paranisitra Chopard (Orthoptera: Gryllidae: Eneopterinae: Nisitrini) is reviewed. New records and additional descriptions are provided for P. longipes Chopard, P. leytensis Robillard, and P. septentria Baroga, Yap & Robillard, and a new species is described from Mindanao: Paranisitra flavofacia n. sp. A taxonomic key and updated checklist of the genus Paranisitra in the world are also provided.
