Abstract The atyid shrimps of Caridina nilotica species group from China are reviewed. Taxonomic diagnosis and discussions are given to three species so far known from China, viz. Caridina gracilipes De Man, 1892, Caridina macrophora Kemp, 1918 and Caridina elongapoda Liang & Yan, 1977. Detailed morphological description and illustrations are provided for a new species. Caridina sheni sp. nov. is morphologically similar to C. gracilipes but could be distinguished by its much longer dactylus of third and fifth pereiopods, and lower number of ventral rostral teeth.

A new genus of Chinese Empoascini (Hemiptera: Cicadellidae: Typhlocybinae), Radicafurcus Qin & Zhang, gen. n. with one new species, R. breviprocessus Qin & Zhang, sp. n. from Sichuan Province (S.W. China) is described and illustrated. Baguoidea Mahmood 1967 is redescribed and a new species, B. yunnanensis Qin & Zhang, sp. n. is described from Yunnan Province (S.W. China). Two genera (Faiga Dworakowska 1980 and Sikkimasca Dworakowska 1994) are reported for the first time from China, and the type species of these genera are re-illustrated.

The genus Setoxylobates (Oribatida, Haplozetidae) is recorded in Taiwan for the first time; one new species of this genus is described based on adults from soil of mountain tea farm in Taiwan. Setoxylobates taigangensis Ermilov sp. nov. differs from Setoxylobates foveolatus Balogh & Mahunka, 1967 in having smaller body size and setiform bothridial setae, and the absence of foveolae on the body. Revised generic diagnosis and an identification key to known species of Setoxylobates are provided. The taxonomic status and systematic placement of some related poronotic taxa are discussed, resulting in the following new taxonomic proposals: Protoribates Berlese, 1908 (=Lignobates Mahunka, 2006 syn. nov.); Setoxylobates Balogh & Mahunka, 1967 (=Plenoxylobates Hammer, 1979 syn. nov.). A new species name is proposed: Protoribates mahunkasandori Ermilov nom. nov. (=Lignobates berndhauseri Mahunka, 2006, preoccupied by Mahunka 1993). The initial generic status of Polyxylobates Hammer, 1973 and the position of Perxylobates mayuloeus Corpuz-Raros, 1979 in Perxylobates are supported.

A new species, Pluviam guangxiensis is described from Guangxi Province, China. It is distinct from the known genera and species of Podoscirtinae. Details are provided. Thus, a new genus, with one new species, was established. Supplementary information relating to Xuanwua motuoensis He, 2015, which is very similar is provided.

This paper describes a new species of the genus Cymbella C.A. Agardh from an alpine lake in the Hengduan Mountains of southwestern China. A detailed morphological description of the new species, named Cymbella luoyulanae sp. nov., is presented; the description is based on light and scanning electron microscopy. The main features of C. luoyulanae are strongly dorsiventral valves with strongly reverse-lateral raphe branches near the proximal ends, a large central area occupying approximately a half of the width with the valve and slit-like areolae comprising striae that may be unseriate or partially biseriate. The new species has morphological characteristics that resemble those of C. heihainensis Y.Li et Gong, C. modicepunctata Krammer and C. asiatica Metzeltin, Lange-Bertalot et Y.Li, but it differs from these three species in details of size, valve shape, striae density, central area, and number of stigmata.

Four additional species of quill mites of the family Syringophilidae Lavoipierre have now been recorded in England. This includes one new species, Bubophilus aluconis sp. nov., which parasitizes the tawny owl Strix aluco (Strigiformes: Strigidae). It differs from other species of this genus, B. ascalaphus Philips et Norton, 1978 and B. asiobius Skoracki et Bochkov, 2002 by the number of chambers in transverse branch of the peritremes (2-3), the length ratio of setae vi and ve (1:1.6-2), and the lengths of the stylophore and aggenital setae ag1 (180 and 135-145, respectively).

One new species, Paratrigonidium chloropodum sp. nov., is described from Hainan, China. The type specimens are deposited in East China Normal University, Biology of History Museum (ECNU). S. venustula is moved to genus Paratrigonidium as P. venustulum comb. nov. P. vittatum Brunner von Wattenwyl, 1893 syn. is the junior synonym of P. venustulum.
