Four additional species of quill mites of the family Syringophilidae Lavoipierre have now been recorded in England. This includes one new species, Bubophilus aluconis sp. nov., which parasitizes the tawny owl Strix aluco (Strigiformes: Strigidae). It differs from other species of this genus, B. ascalaphus Philips et Norton, 1978 and B. asiobius Skoracki et Bochkov, 2002 by the number of chambers in transverse branch of the peritremes (2-3), the length ratio of setae vi and ve (1:1.6-2), and the lengths of the stylophore and aggenital setae ag1 (180 and 135-145, respectively).

We provide a list of all 19 named species of the family Syringophilidae (Acari: Prostigmata) parasitizing charadriiform birds (Charadriiformes) together with new records and keys to these species. We describe a new species Niglarobia cursoriae sp. nov. from Cursorius temminckii Swainson (Glareolidae) and redescribe Creagonycha totana (Oudemans, 1904) from Tringa totanus L. (Scolopacidae). Niglarobia cursoriae sp. nov. differs from the closely related species N. rhinoptili Fain et al., 2000 in the following characters: in females of N. cursoriae sp. nov. hysterosomal shield is present and fused with pygidial shield; the length ratio of setae g:pg1:pg2 is 1:5:3.8. In females of N. rhinoptili the hysterosomal shield is absent; and the length ratio of setae g:pg1:pg2 is 1:3:2. All known syringophilid records from charadriiform birds are summarized in tabular form.

One new species and three new distribution records for the family Crangonidae (Crustacea: Decapoda) are reported from Western Australia. A new species, Philocheras gardenensis sp. nov. is described and illustrated based on specimens collected from the Western Australia. The new species closely resembles Philocheras fasciatus (Risso, 1816), but can be distinguished easily by the absence of lobe-like folds on either side of the middle line of the carapace, the presence of a lateral carina extending from the branchiostegal spine, the longer middorsal carina and distolateral tooth of the antennal scale. A key for the genus Philocheras is provided, including currently, a total of 58 species and subspecies reported worldwide. Range extensions of three Crangonid shrimps are reported within Australia, and they are Philocheras obliquus (Fulton & Grant, 1902), Pontocaris arafurae (Bruce, 1988) and Vercoia gibbosa Baker, 1904.

Quill mites (Acariformes: Prostigmata: Syringophilidae) parasitizing waxbills of genus Estrilda Swainson (Aves: Passeriformes: Estrildidae) from the Sub-Saharan region are studied for the first time. Among them, a new species, Syringophiloidus estrildus sp. nov., is described and new host species for Neosyringophilopsis lonchurus Skoracki, 2008, Neoaulonastus oryzivorus (Skoracki, 2011) comb. nov., and Picobia lonchurae Skoracki et al., 2016 are recorded. In our study, we examined 120 specimens belonging to seven of the 16 (44%) species of the genus Estrilda. The prevalence of infestation by syringophilid species varied from 3.7 to 25%. The host and habitat (feather type) specificity are discussed.

Taxonomic characters of the adult, pupa and larva of the coconut flat moth, Agonoxena argaula Meyr., are compared with those of the three other known species comprising the family Agonoxenidae, and keys to the species are provided. One new species, A. phoenicia, is described from northern Queensland. The systematic position of the family and the generic status of the four species are discussed. Although differences of possible taxonomic importance have been noted, the species are considered sufficiently homogeneous to allow assignment to the single genus Agonoxena Meyr. Haemolytis miniana Meyr. is transferred to Agonoxena, and Haemolytis Meyr. is suppressed as a junior synonym.

The members of the genus Pelthydrus are small-sized aquatic beetles which belong to the water scavenger beetle family Hydrophilidae. At present the lineage includes 63 valid species mainly occurring in Asia, with 21 known from China (Bian et al. 2008, 2009; Hansen 1999; Schönmann 1995). One new species is described here, which belongs to the Pelthydrus sculpturatus species group, bringing the total number of species within the group to seven (Schönmann 1995). One additional species is reported from China for the first time. Specimens were collected from Yunnan Province and are deposited in IAECAS (Institute of Applied Ecology, Shenyang, Chinese Academy of Sciences).

AbstractNeoaulonastus cinnyris sp. nov. (Acari: Prostigmata: Syringophilidae) parasitising Cinnyris mediocris (Passeriformes: Nectariniidae) from Tanzania is described. Additionally, Picobia oritis Skoracki et al. 2009 was recorded on four new hosts belonging to the family Nectariniidae from Ethiopian region: Cinnyris oustaleti (Bocage) from Angola, Cinnyris venustus (Shaw) from West Somalia, Cinnyris talatala Smith from Botswana and Zambia and Cinnyris erythrocercus (Hartlaub) from Uganda. All known quill mite species from family Nectariniidae are summarized in table.

Two new species and descriptions of variation in two previously-described species of Vietnamese Trichoptera are presented. Adult males were collected in Bạch Mã National Park, Thừa Thiên Huế Province, Vietnam. Two species in the genus Anisocentropus (Calamoceratidae) are examined here, with one new species and variations in the second species described. Two species in the family Hydroptilidae are examined, with descriptions of a new species in the genus Chrysotrichia and variation in a species of of Ugandatrichia. We provide illustrations of male genitalia for each species.

Two new fossil species (Phatnoma pulchra sp. nov., Leptopharsa antica sp. nov.) of the family Tingidae (Hemiptera: Heteroptera) from Dominican amber (Dominican Republic) and one new species (Leptopharsa colombiana sp. nov.) from Colombian copal (Colombia) are described and illustrated with photos. One new species and three new combinations in neotropical Thelypteridaceae are proposed here. Steiropteris alstonii sp. nov. is from Colombia and known only from the type locality. New combinations are proposed in the genera Amauropelta, Christella, and Goniopteris.

The leuconid cumaceans of the Antarctic deep-sea basins are listed. Ten new leuconid species are described: eight species in the genus Leucon: L. (Crymoleucon) parantarcticus, L. (C.) weddellensis, L. (C.) longirhinus, L. (C.) grandidentatus, L. (Leucon) quattuormulierum, L. (L.) andeep, L. (Macrauloleucon) weigmanni and L. (M.) complexus. One new species is described for the genus Eudorella: E. flokkeri. The genus Bytholeucon was discovered for the first time in Antarctic waters with a new species, B. hartmannorum.
