Six new braconid wasps of the genus Colastomion Baker, 1917 (Hymenoptera: Braconidae: Rogadinae) from Vietnam

The relatively small genus Colastomion Baker, 1917 is newly recorded for Vietnam’s braconid fauna and six new species are described and fully illustrated, viz. Colastomion asperum Long, sp. n; Colastomion cephonodes Long & PVLam, sp. n.; Colastomion citrum Long, sp. n.; Colastomion neuterum Long, sp. n.; Colastomion nigroconfusum Long & Pham, sp. n. and Colastomion vietnamenese Long, sp. n. Based on both females and males, a key to the new species from Vietnam is given. Diagnostic characters of the new species are also analyzed and compared with other Colastomion species from the Oriental region. Additionally, the first host record for the new species, C. cephonodes sp. n., is provided as this new species is reared from caterpillars of the coffee hawkmoth, Cephonodes hylas (Linnaeus, 1771).

Discoelius vasukii Pannure & Carpenter, sp. nov. is described and illustrated from Tamil Nadu, India.        Discoelius Latreille, 1809 is a small genus of solitary wasp with ten species and one subspecies described, of which D. aurantiacus Nguyen, D. emeishanensus Zhou & Li, D. esakii Yasumatsu, D. longinodus Yamane, D. nigriclypeus Zhou & Li, D. turneri (Meade-Waldo), D. wangi Yamane and D. zonalis (Panzer) are recorded from Oriental Region (Zhou et al. 2013; Nguyen 2016). Only a single species, D. turneri described from Shillong (Meghalaya) (Meade-Waldo, 1910) and later recorded from Sikkim (Giordani Soika 1960) has been previously known from India. In this study, we describe a new species of Discoelius from India based on a single female specimen collected at Valparai (Tamil Nadu), India.

The genus Andropromachus (Lonchodidae: Necrosciinae: Necrosciini) is a small genus of stick insects including four species with a distribution in northern Vietnam and south-western China. A new species of stick insects Andropromachus gulinqingensis sp. n. is described from Yunnan Province of China. Diagnostic characters of the new species are illustrated and an identification key to male and female Andropromachus is provided along with a checklist for all described species.

In the present study we describe a new species of the genus Omophorus, O. (Sinomophorus) wallacei sp. nov., from Malaysian Borneo. Photographs of habitus and genitalia, a distribution map, and a key for the identification of Omophorus species are included. The definition of the subgenus Sinomophorus is revised and several new diagnostic characters are added. This is the first documented occurrence of Omophorus in Borneo, highlighting its potential diversity in the Oriental region and providing additional evidence of Ethiopian-Oriental disjunction within this genus.

A new species of the sabellid polychaete genus Claviramus Fitzhugh, 2002, is described from Ariake Inland Sea, Kyushu, Japan. Claviramus is a small genus, composed of three species worldwide. Its distinctive feature is the presence of foliaceous flanges at the distal ends of the radioles. Claviramus kyushuensissp. nov. here described is characterized by the presence of a glandular ridge on chaetiger 2, glandular shields on the abdomen, thoracic uncini bidentate, and the presence of a short, distal filament in some radioles. A key and a comparative table of diagnostic characters for species of Claviramus are provided.

Culcua is characterized as a well separated genus of the subfamily Pachygastrinae. In addition to the haired eyes and the unusually short vein R 2+3 , a new autapomorphic character (an additional tube in the phallic complex) is defined. Only two valid species were previously recognized, both distributed exclusively in the Oriental Region. Our revisional study of material from several institutions resulted in the description of 7 new species and one resurrection from synonymy. Culcua argentea sp.n. is described from Laos, C. chaineyi sp.n. from Malaysia, C. fasciata sp.n. from the Philippines, C. kolibaci from Laos, Malaysia and Thailand, C. kovaci sp.n. from Laos and Thailand, C. normani sp.n. from East Malaysia and C. ornans from India. C. albopilosa (Matsumura) from Taiwan is considered to be distinct from the type species of the genus, C. simulans Walker, being distributed in Malaysia. C. nigra Brunetti described from Laos is also recorded from Thailand. Two new species are documented by colour illustrations, three additional species by colour photographs and figures of diagnostic characters of all the treated species are included. An identification key to the all known species of Culcua is added.

The myrmicine genus Rotastruma is a rarely collected arboreal ant group and only two species, R. recava Bolton and R. stenoceps Bolton, are known from the Oriental Region. A new species, R. epispinasp. nov., is described from Cambodia based on the worker and queen castes. The new species is distinguished from R. recava and R. stenoceps by having the propodeal spine directed upwards and elongated peduncle of the petiole. Herein, we provide an update to the identification key and diagnostic characters for the genus Rotastruma.

Formerly Cnemidophorus was thought to be the most speciose genus of Teiidae. This genus comprised four morphological groups that were later defined as four different genera, Ameivula, Aurivela, Cnemidophorus and Contomastix. The last appears as paraphyletic in a recent phylogenetic reconstruction based on morphology, but monophyletic in a reconstruction using molecular characters. Six species are allocated to Contomastix. One of them, C. lacertoides, having an extensive and disjunct geographic distribution in Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil. Preliminary analyses revealed morphological differences among its populations, suggesting that it is actually a complex of species. Here, we describe a new species corresponding to the Argentinian populations hitherto regarded as C. lacertoides, by integrating morphological and molecular evidence. Furthermore, we demonstrate that the presence of notched proximal margin of the tongue is a character that defines the genus Contomastix.

The diversity of the ‘Pselaphodes complex’ of genera from Asia remains fragmentally documented. Herein we describe fifteen new species of the genus Labomimus Sharp from China: L. assingi sp. nov. and L. dilatatus sp. nov. from Shaanxi, L. longnan sp. nov. and L. minshanus sp. nov. from Gansu, L. chouwenii sp. nov. from Taiwan, L. yue sp. nov. from Guangdong, L. howaichuni sp. nov. from Hong Kong, L. jinfomontis sp. nov. from Chongqing, L. niger sp. nov. from Sichuan, L. maolan sp. nov. from Guizhou, L. corpulentus sp. nov., L. dulongensis sp. nov., and L. wuchaoi sp. nov. from Yunnan, and L. medogensis sp. nov. and L. qiujianyuae sp. nov. from Xizang. A little known species, L. torticornis (Champion), originally described from Assam, northeastern India, is newly recorded in Yunnan, southwestern China. Illustrations of the habitus and major diagnostic characters of all treated species are provided. A checklist and a distributional map of world species are given.
