Three new species of oribatid mites of the superfamily Oripodoidea—Scheloribates (Bischeloribates) eduardoi sp. nov., Scheloribates (Hemileius) dianae sp. nov. (both from Scheloribatidae) and Peloribates (Peloribates) elisabethae sp. nov. (Haplozetidae)—are described from soil and leaf litter of the primary evergreen lowland rainforest in Amazonian Peru. An identification key to known species of Scheloribates (Bischeloribates) is updated. The taxonomic status of the genus Tentaculozetes Balogh, 1970 (Haplozetidae) is discussed, resulting in the following new taxonomic proposal: Peloribates (Peloribates) Berlese, 1908 (=Tentaculozetes Balogh, 1970 syn. nov.).

A new species of microzetid oribatid mites of the genus Kalyptrazetes is described from upper soil and leaf litter in the primary evergreen lowland rainforest of Amazonian Peru. Kalyptrazetes bifurcatus Ermilov sp. nov. differs from other representatives of the genus by the morphology of rostral and centroventral epimeral setae and anterior parts of lamellae, the length of some notogastral, epimeral and genital setae, and the absence of an X-structure in the epimeral region. The main generic traits and an identification key to known species of Kalyptrazetes are provided.

Descriptions of three new species of oribatid mites (Oribatida) of the family Galumnidae—Galumna (Galumna) panguanaensis sp. nov., G. (Neogalumna) moroi sp. nov. and Pergalumna (Pergalumna) neryae sp. nov.—are presented, based on materials collected from upper soil and leaf litter in the primary evergreen lowland rainforest of Amazonian Peru.

Two new species of oribatid mites of the genus Oribatella (Oribatida, Oribatellidae)—O. friedrichi sp. nov. and O. cornuta sp. nov.—are described from soil and leaf litter of the primary evergreen lowland rainforest in Amazonian Peru. An identification key to known species/subspecies of Oribatella from the Neotropical region is presented.

Two new species of oribatid mites of the genus Neoribates (Oribatida, Parakalummidae) are described based on adult specimens from leaf litter in the Montagne d'Ambre National Park of North Madagascar. Neoribates africanus sp. nov. and N. madagascarensis sp. nov. clearly differs from all species of the genus by the absence of interlamellar seta (including alveolus). An identification key and data on distribution and ecology of known African species of Parakalummidae are presented.

AbstractThree new species of oribatid mites (Acari: Oribatida), Austrachipteria novazealandica sp. n. (Achipteriidae), Cultroribula otagoensis sp. n. (Astegistidae) and Microlamellarea minuta sp. n. (Lamellareidae), are described from New Zealand. The family Lamellareidae and the genus Microlamellarea are recorded for the first time in the fauna of this country. Austrachipteria novazealandica sp. n. is morphologically most similar to A. bidentata (Hammer, 1967), but differs from the latter by shorter interlamellar and bothridial setae and by posteriorly concave notogaster. Cultroribula otagoensis sp. n. is morphologically most similar to C. bicuspidata Mahunka, 1978, C. castriensis Mahunka, 1985, C. tropica Balogh, 1958 and C. zicsii Balogh & Mahunka, 1981, but differs from all listed species by lamellae being separated medially. Microlamellarea minuta sp. n. differs from two known species of the genus, M. coetzeeae Mahunka & Mahunka-Papp, 2011 and M. engelbrechti Coetzee, 1987, by the presence of minute interlamellar setae, leaf-shaped rostral setae and two pairs of anal setae. An identification key to known species of Microlamellarea is presented. Transfer of the genus Cultroribella from Astegistidae to Lamellareidae is proposed.

A new species of the genus Gittella (Oribatida, Oppiidae) - G. kontschani n. sp. - is described, based on materials collected from upper soil and leaf litter in the primary evergreen lowland rainforest of Amazonian Peru. Generic diagnosis, an identification key, distribution, and habitats of all known species of Gittella are presented.

The present study is based on the oribatid mites (Acari, Oribatida) phoretic on passalid beetles (Coleoptera, Scarabaeoidea, Passalidae) from the Afrotropical and Oriental regions. Nine identified mite species (phoretic on ten beetle species) are registered; of these, three species (from Congo, Gabon and Ghana) are new to science: Graptoppia (Stenoppia) boucheri sp. nov. (Oppiidae), Perscheloribates (Perscheloribates) gabonensis sp. nov. (Scheloribatidae) and Vilhenabates paraambohitra sp. nov. (Haplozetidae). An identification key to the known species of Graptoppia (Stenoppia) is given. Data on the registered phoretic relationships between Oribatida and Passalidae are summarized.

A list of identified oribatid mite taxa from Uganda, including 21 species/subspecies from 17 genera and 14 families, is presented. A new species of the family Machadobelbidae is described from leaf litter. Machadobelba ugandaensis sp. nov. differs from Machadobelba barbata Sanyal, Saha & Chakraborty, 2005 and Machadobelba dispar Balogh, 1958 by the presence of one pair of lateral teeth of the rostrum, prodorsal transverse ridge between costulae and foveolate body surface. Revised generic diagnosis and an identification key to the known species of Machadobelba are presented.

AbstractA list of identified oribatid mites of the family Lohmanniidae (Acari, Oribatida) collected from Cuba, including 4 species from 4 genera, is provided. The genus Heptacarus and species Heptacarus supertrichus Piffl, 1967 are recorded in Cuba for the first time. A new species of Annectacarus is described from leaf litter in forest of Valle de Viñales National Park. Annectacarus vinalesensis sp. n. is morphologically most similar to A. krachan Mahunka, 1995, but the new species differs from the latter by the rostrum with indentation and the presence of six pairs of neotrichal notogastral setae and six pairs of setae on epimere I. An identification key to the known species of Annectacarus in the Neotropical region is given.
