Two New Species

Two new species are described from Lake Rotorua, New Zealand, viz. Frontipoda minutipalpis (Oxidae) and Limnesia rotoruaensis (Limnesiidae). The genus Flabellifrontipoda is lowered in ranking to a subgenus of Frontipoda. This affects the following species: Frontipoda (Flabellifron- tipoda) allarka (Cook) nov. comb., F. (Flabellifrontipoda) allasa (Cook) nov. comb., F. (Flabelli- frontipoda) bravana (Cook) nov. comb., F. (Flabellifrontipoda) carteza (Cook) nov. comb., F. (Flabellifrontipoda) crameri (Cook) nov. comb., F. (Flabellifrontipoda) dolichopalpis (Cook) nov. comb., F. (Flabellifrontipoda) eloma (Cook) nov. comb., F. (Flabellifrontipoda) hadinoma (Cook) nov. comb., F. (Flabellifrontipoda) lacustris (Cook) nov. comb., F. (Flabellifrontipoda) ladilofa (Cook) nov. comb., F. Three water mite species of the genus Torrenticola Piersig, 1896 are reported from Foding Mountain National Nature Reserve, Guizhou Province, China. Torrenticola fodingensis Gu & Guo, n. sp. and T. tenuichelicera Gu & Guo, n. sp. are described and illustrated as new to science, and T. nipponica (Enami, 1940) is recorded in China for the first time, with the first description and illustration of its deutonymph. In addition, a key to the species ofTorrenticola in China is presented in this paper. The type specimens of the new species are deposited in Institute of Entomology, Guizhou University, Guiyang, P. R. China (GUGC).

A survey is given of the distribution of the water mite species of the genus Sperchon Kramer (Acari: Hydrachnidia: Sperchontidae) in Turkey, based on all published data and numerous new records. Sperchon (Hispidosperchon) oezkani and S. (Sperchon) ayyildizi are described as new species; Sperchon fundamentalis Bader & Sepasgozarian, 1980 is synonymized with S. glandulosus Koenike, 1886; the first record from Turkey is given for Sperchon (Hispidosperchon) tarnogradskii Sokolow, 1927.

Nine water mite species of the genus Torrenticola Piersig, 1896 are reported from Iran. Torrenticola irana and T. khorassanula are described as new to science, and the first records for Iran are given for T. brevirostris (Halbert, 1911), T. barsica (Szalay, 1933), T. amplexa (Koenike, 1908) and T. thori (Halbert, 1944).

New records of water mite species (Acari: Hydrachnidia) from hyporheic waters of Selwyn River (South Island, New Zealand) are reported. One new genus, Canterburaturus Pesic & Smit n. gen. (Aturidae) and nine new species are described: Taintaturus selwynus Pesic & Smit n. sp., T. rostratus Pesic & Smit n. sp., T. waikirikiri Pesic & Smit n. sp., Colobaturus selwynus Pesic & Smit n. sp., Canterburaturus minutus Pesic & Smit n. sp., C. cooki Pesic & Smit n. sp., C. novaeseelandicus Pesic & Smit n. sp., Abelaturus schwoerbeli Pesic & Smit n. sp., and Zelandalbia longipalpis Pesic & Smit n. sp. A first description of the male is given for Piotaturus bovalus Cook, 1983. A list is given of all known hyporheic species of New Zealand.

This paper deals with the water mite species of the family Aturidae Thor, collected from running waters in Bingöl Province, Turkey. Javalbia (Javalbicula) turcica sp. nov. and Barbaxonella bingolensis sp. nov. are described as new species; Axonopsis armata Chaudonneret & Angelier, 1949 is synonymized with A. romijni Viets, 1923; Kongsbergia (Kongsbergia) persica Pešić, 2005, Albaxona lundbladi Motaş & Tanasachi, 1947, Axonopsis (Hexaxonopsis) romijni Viets, 1923, A. (Navinaxonopsis) persica Pešić, 2004 and A. (Paraxonopsis) vietsi Motaş & Tanasachi, 1947 are reported for the first time for Turkey.

New information about the distribution of the species of the water mite genus Monatractides K. Viets (Acari: Hydrachnidia, Torrenticolidae) in Iran is presented. Two species (Monatractides vafaei and M. persicus) are described as new to science. A first Iranian record is given for Monatractides algeriensis Lundblad, 1941, a species previously known from Algeria and Southern Italy.
