The modern web-based distance education overcomes space-time restriction of the traditional teaching forms. However, being short of specifically observable and operable experimental equipment makes the web-based education lack advantages in the knowledge learning progress, which needs strong stereoscopic effect and operability. Truck crane is the most widely used crane installed on ordinary or tailor-made chassis with strong operability. This paper introduces a kind of interactive truck crane simulation platform based on the virtual reality technology, on which can complete the simulation experiment of the crane's movement. The framework and working principle of the interactive truck crane simulation platform are discussed in the paper, while landing leg and hook are used as an example to show the motion control mechanism of truck crane components. The interactive truck crane simulation platform uses the browser-based structure, Java3D, virtual reality and Java Applet, etc. to develop a Web3D virtual reality learning environment, which has the advantages of good interaction, strong sense of reality, simple update, less investment and so on. This learning environment can meet the needs that many students study online at the same time, so it has important application in the distance education of mechanical profession and remote training of vocational skills.

<abstract> <p>The 5G virtual reality system needs to interact with the user to draw the scene in real time. The contradiction between the complexity of the scene model and the real-time interaction is the main problem in the operation of the virtual reality system. The model optimization strategy of architectural scene in virtual reality design is studied, and the method of architectural scene model optimization is summarized. This article aims to study the optimization of computer vision software modeling through 5G virtual reality technology. In this paper, the optimization of the architectural model is studied by the method of image gray scale transformation, computer vision detection technology and virtual modeling technology. The four experiments are comprehensive evaluation and quantitative evaluation, comparison of channel estimation performance of different pilot structures, comparison of calculated and true values of external azimuth elements, and the effect of window-to-wall ratio on energy consumption per unit of residential building. The results show that hollow bricks of building materials have a great impact on the environment. The values of the three pixel coordinates X, Y, and Z calculated by the unit quaternion method are 1.27, 1.3, and -6.11, respectively, while the actual coordinate positions are 1.25, 1.37, and -6.22, respectively. It can be seen that the outer orientation element value calculated by the quaternion-based spatial rear intersection method is not much different from the actual value, and the correct result can be accurately calculated.</p> </abstract>

Purpose This paper aims to improve the scene sense of a virtual scene, the welding model of a virtual reality system of riser automatic equipment was constructed using Unity3D and UG software, which mainly included a welding car, welding guide rail, welding power supply, virtual camera and other equipment and the model was rendered. Design/methodology/approach The human-computer interaction page and simulation test of the system was produced using the user interface GUI system for creating a human-computer interaction scene. The operator could capture the welding status of the physical equipment accurately and in real-time so the virtual reality technology was very suitable for the remote monitoring operation integrated with the welding system. Findings Human-computer interaction design and collision detection were realized. In addition, the system simulation experiment was accomplished. With the continuous improvement and development of virtual reality technology real-time virtual simulation and monitoring, technology will become the main development trend. Research limitations/implications Based on virtual reality, the monitoring system can capture the operation status of physical welding equipment in real-time and accurately, which is very suitable for remote monitoring operation integrated with the welding system and also conducive to improving the monitoring level of the welding process. Practical implications This technology is time-saving and money-saving, for the operators do not have to be in a real welding environment and therefore they can get away from dangerous places. Consequently, it can avoid unnecessary injuries and problems. Social implications This technology can replace people to enter the dangerous and extreme environment to carry out welding operation, so it becomes the most effective means of nuclear power plant maintenance, space structure construction and marine engineering construction. In addition, it is time-saving and money-saving. Originality/value With the rapid development of virtual reality technology in recent years, it is a new research direction to apply virtual reality technology to the remote welding operation. This technology is different from the traditional way of welding for the operators can stay away from the welding scene especially some dangerous places.

The adoption of virtual reality in manufacturing system simulation had proved its effectiveness in bridging up to the gap between different areas of expertise, especially in product design and manufacturing. Virtual reality had enclosed human–machine interface by enabling the user to be immersed into the virtual environment and experience real-time interaction with the virtual objects. In this article, an implementation of virtual reality in cellular manufacturing system simulation is presented. By utilizing the features of visualization and real-time interaction of virtual reality technology, the manufacturing process of a product had been visualized while the real-time control on the product traveling path based on the user’s input was performed and the corresponding activities that related to the change of traveling path had been predicted in the virtual environment. Through the study, simulation of the manufacturing system in virtual reality showed its potential as a powerful decision support system in process planning and scheduling. Various process planning and schedules can be planned through the virtual environment, while the product traveling distance can be obtained from the developed system.

Virtual Reality technology is wild applied in various fields with its development. This article studied the application of virtual reality technology in green construction. On the discussion of the utility of desktop virtual reality system to accomplish the three-dimensional real-time simulation of green construction project, it shows that the application of virtual reality technology in the simulation of green construction not only reduces the construction cost but also breaks the limitation of time and space. The research of this paper has very high applied value.
