In this paper, the hemp / cotton / polyester mesh knitted fabric (Han / C / T) is treated by alkali treatment, conventional dyeing and alkali pre-treatment dyeing. We have obtained the conclusion that alkali treatment improves the dyeing effect. Alkali pre-treatment dyeing was done after alkali treatment. The fabric dyeing effect is improved obviously. The optimum process come from orthogonal experiment (dyes 2.5% owf, Na2SO4 :30g/L, Na2CO3:10g/L, liquor ratio (1:50) and 90°C×50 min). Through this optimum process, dyeing effect for hemp / cotton / polyester mesh knitted fabric is close to the pure cotton fabric dyeing effect.

t is pre-mordant dyeing. Dyeing property of Carmine, gardenia yellow and sodium copper chlorophyll on cotton fabrics which were pre-treated by metal mordant (FeSO4AlCl3 and ZnCl2 ) was studied. The reasonable pre-treatment was determined by comparing the color depth (K/S value) of dyed samples. And then, the dyed samples were treated with no-iron finishing resin 931-33 to fix the color. The result shows that the color depth of cotton fabric is greatly improved after determined pre-treatment, and the washing fastness is improved after color fixing.

The influence of adding Sodium Perborate Tetrahydrate (NaPB) and tetraacetylethylenediamine (TAED) on the efficiency of removing soils from cotton fabric was evaluated in the study. NaPB as inorganic peroxide and TAED as a bleach activator were added to a commercial washing powder agent. Four standard soils applied on cotton fabric (EMPA standard soiled fabrics) were used in the study, i.e. 101 – carbon black/olive oil, 114 – red wine, 116 – blood/ milk/ink and 160 – chocolate. The washing of fabrics was conducted in accordance with the SIST EN ISO 105-C06 standard at 40, 60 and 90 °C in Launder-Ometer apparatus. The washing efficiency was evaluated by determining the CIE L* colour coordinates of the unwashed and washed fabric samples, and the difference in ΔL* colour coordinates among them. The results showed that NaPB and TAED improve the efficiency of washing for two standard soils, have no effect on one, and deteriorate the washing results of one standard soil.

Before dyeing, woven cotton fabrics have been passed through different pre-treatments like desizing, scouring, bleaching and mercerising to enhance quality. In every treatment cotton fabric is treated with different chemicals and mechanical processes. After these treatments, the feel of the fabric has been changed. The change in feel or in terms of the hand value of treated fabrics were analysed by determining the bending length, crease recovery angle, SEM, FTIR, surface roughness and smoothness properties. Other physical properties viz. the tear and tensile strength were also evaluated. Fabric surface roughness and smoothness were determined using the Kawabata Evaluation System (KES) and digital image processing method. Using MATLAB software, digital image processing techniques were used to evaluate the roughness index. The study revealed that the pretreatment process alters the fabric surface. Statistical analysis (ANOVA) was carried out using SPSS software in order to establish the relationship between the pre-treatment process effect on the bending length, smoothness and crease recovery angle.
