Abstract In this study to the growth characteristics of microalgae (Dunaliella salina, Nannochloropsis oculata, Tetrasel mis chuii & Chaetoceros calcitrans), in different mediums, namely Bold’s Basal Medium (BBM) and BBM modification of sea water. The results obtained from microalgae (N.oculata, T.chuii, C.calcitrans) are better grown on BBM media while microlaga D.salina grows well on BBM modification of sea water. Microalgae biomass is extracted by maceration method in hexane and methanol solvents. Test bacteria used gram positive (Staphylococcus aureus) and gram negative (Escherichia coli). Inhibitory zone diameter results were compared with antimicrobial sensitivity tests according to Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI). From the results of microalgae hexane and methanol extract antibacterial activity tests (D.salina, N.oculata, T.chuii, C.calcitrans) showed that the extract was not too sensitive to inhibit bacterial growth.   Keywords: microalgae, medium, antimicrobial

Penelitian ini membahas tentang pengaruh variasi konsentrasi N2 terhadap perolehan jumlah lipid Dunaliella salina dengan intensitas cahaya sebesar 3000 lux. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui konsentrasi N2 yang sesuai untuk memperoleh lipid Dunaliella salina maksimum. Fotosintesis berlangsung di dalam fotobioreaktor dengan volume bioreaktor 2 l (500 ml Dunaliella salina, 1500 ml air laut, dengan variasi N2 0,06, 0,07, 0,08, 0,09 dan 0,1 M) dengan laju alir gas total 5 l/menit. Pengkulturan dilakukan selama 5 hari dan memanen biomassa pada hari ke-5. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa adanya peningkatan perolehan lipid seiring dengan meningkatnya konsentrasi N2 yang diberikan. Jumlah lipid maksimum diperoleh pada variasi N2 0,1 M yaitu 2,3727 %.

As microalgas apresentam uma produtividade dezenas de vezes maior quando comparadas a outras matérias-primas produtoras de óleo. Deste modo, são capazes de suprir as necessidades da demanda de biodiesel a ser adicionado ao diesel e, inclusive, sua total substituição. Sendo assim, o presente estudo tem o propósito de avaliar a viabilidade da produção de óleo a partir de microalgas Dunaliella salina. O trabalho inclui a avaliação de seu crescimento através de diferentes técnicas, até a separação do óleo e biomassa produzidos. Em um primeiro momento, foram apontadas as melhores condições de cultivo e desenvolvimento da alga, para, posteriormente, proceder a avaliação da biomassa produzida e da fase líquida contendo água e óleo.  Palavras-chave: biodiesel, microalgas, biomassa, Dunaliella salina, foto-bio-reator
