Regarding the design response spectrum in the code for seismic design of buildings as target spectra, the 28 acceleration histories are formed artificially. They are used as the inputs ground motion in earthquake response analysis.Four site classifications profiles were selected or constructed from practical site profiles. With the use of 1-D equivalent linearization wave motion method that is wildly used at present in site seismic response analysis, the platform values of surface response spectrum for different profiles under different ground motion inputs were calculated.Different platform values of the response spectrum and relational expression which is seven input earthquake motion intensity and site classifications have been given by statistical analysis.

Considering the influence of dynamic interaction between soil and structure, a finite element analysis model of nonlinear dynamic interaction of hinge type slope is established. Then, numerical simulation towards its seismic response has been carried out. Analysis on stress, acceleration and response characteristics of relative horizontal displacement under different seismic oscillation are conducted. Whose results represent that when at the same intensity and spectrum of earthquake motion, the maximum dynamic stress in the middle and upper part of slope is larger while the acceleration and horizontal displacement of the top and bottom is higher. If under earthquake motion with the same intensity and different spectrum, the dynamic response of slope under Loma Prieta wave is larger than that under Kobe wave. Considering the seismic response characteristics of slope, its top and bottom are weak areas. Therefore, attention should be paid to these places in seismic design, same emphasis should also be given to the middle and middle-upper part.

Some structures yield asymmetrically in the two opposite senses of a given direction. This can be due to structural configuration, asymmetry in loads, or tilting. As a consequence the capacity to resist earthquake motion can be much owing to a tendency to accumulate inelastic deformations in the weaker sense. The phenomenon is studied here for single-degree-of-freedom hysteretic bilinear systems subjected to simulated accelerograms of the E-W component of the motion registered in the Ministry of Communications and Transportation in Mexico City, during the September 19, 1985 earthquake. The evolutionary spectral power concept is used for this purpose. Approximate practical rules are deduced from results of this study which were included in the new Mexican seismic design code. The influence of motion duration is pointed out on this type of structures.
