This chapter discusses emerging innovative technologies and examines how Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Library is increasingly benefited by its new and future services. It discusses the National Open Distance Learners' Library and Information Network (NODLINET), a project of IGNOU Library created for distance learning libraries for sharing collections, e-resources, and services on a common platform. The chapter discusses how IGNOU Library is moving towards innovative Library Services by providing its users with updated contents and constantly strengthening service capability in network information environment. It also explains in detail the component of Remote Access to E-resources, which is a quick, easy, and convenient service to gain off-campus access to all IGNOU Library subscribed databases and other online resources. It also enumerates the copyright restrictions and licensing restrictions through Remote Access Service. There is also a discussion in detail on various other innovative initiatives taken by IGNOU Library like Cloud Computing, Course Reserves, Institutional Repository, Discovery, and AtoZ Services.

Remote access to digital resources system is widely used in college, but its service mode and function are worth further investigation. This paper first analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of mainstream technology. Then it explores several problems that should be pay attention in constructing and implementing the remote access service at this stage. Finally, it introduces the solution of digital resources' unified management system in Donghua University Library, which considers two aspects of management and readers' use. It also proposes this can solve the blocked problem of authorized IP addresses caused by readers' misusing database.

Purpose. Improving of a forecast monitoring system of the fire hazard territory. Methods. To obtain a qualitatively new result the approach of Big Data including static (relatively slowly changing in time) data, ground information from meteorological stations and satellite data over a long period of time is applied. Findings. A forecast monitoring system of factors characterizing the fire hazard of the territory is developed. The system includes remote access service (providing data to users), database of forecast monitoring statistics, data processing and analysis subsystems. The structure of the system is relatively universal with the ability to complete and change both the functions themselves and the tasks to be solved. This allows considering the system as a preliminary stage of introducing modern approaches to fire hazard forecasting on the territory in the Republic of Belarus. The creation of the system is the beginning of a new forecast stage in the development of mechanisms of response to natural fires in the Republic of Belarus. Application field of research. The results of a forecast monitoring system of factors characterizing the fire hazard of the territory may be used in daily activities of the departments of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Belarus and the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Belarus to reduce damage due to natural fires.

A design scheme based on IPSec VPN Service in VMware simulation platform was proposed. At first, this paper introduces the virtual machine and the working principle of IPSec VPN. Using VMware to construct a network simulation platform. Next,Through Routing and Remote Access Service、VPN Service of Windows Server 2008′s, the route between subnets was implemented. At last, the simulation experimental results show that the design of stable operation, high safety, no need of special routing equipment, and has low cost, easy to implement, is a safe, cheap, high performance design solutions.

The increased availability of High Performance Computing and Communications (HPCC) offers scientists and students the potential for effective remote interactive use of centralized, specialized, and expensive instrumentation and computers. Examples of instruments capable of remote operation that may be usefully controlled from a distance are increasing. Some in current use include telescopes, networks of remote geophysical sensing devices and more recently, the intermediate high voltage electron microscope developed at the San Diego Microscopy and Imaging Resource (SDMIR) in La Jolla. In this presentation the imaging capabilities of a specially designed JEOL 4000EX IVEM will be described. This instrument was developed mainly to facilitate the extraction of 3-dimensional information from thick sections. In addition, progress will be described on a project now underway to develop a more advanced version of the Telemicroscopy software we previously demonstrated as a tool to for providing remote access to this IVEM (Mercurio et al., 1992; Fan et al., 1992).
