Why are women underrepresented in the fields of science, technology, and innovation? Using a sample of Gates and NIH grant applications submitted by a common pool of US-based academic researchers, we implement a range of text analysis methods associated with gendered language. We find that despite significant institutional differences, there are consistent gender differences in scientific communication. By contrast, we find starkly differing impacts of these text characteristics on funding outcomes across our institutional settings. Our findings suggest that institutional reform is likely to be a viable strategy for increasing gender inclusion in science and technology.

Abstract This article discuss the Brazilian governmental initiatives in Scientific and Technological Information management in the Information Society to arise from critical reading of four official publications (Green Book of the Information Society of Brazil; White Book: Science, Technology and Innovation; Science and Technology for the construction of the Information Society; and Contribution for policies of Scientific Information). It also brings a brief historical approach of scientific communication and Brazilian Scientific and Technological Information management.

This research analyzes the evolution of the publications from academic researchers and technical publications carried out by professionals of the Science, Technology, and Innovation Parks (stips). The objective is to compare the research agenda from the two groups, increasing the comprehension of who they are and what they are researching. The method uses bibliometric techniques. The research found that the academic authors dealt with conceptual themes, while managers emphasized operations issues. Also, it was identified the growth in the academic interest on the subject (after 2015); the limited number of academic publications (177 in 12 years); China, Taiwan, and Spain as the countries with the highest academic output (40%); Spain, Brazil, and the usa concentrates 35% of technical publications. The work has implications for the academy (new topics for research agenda), and to the parks and policymakers enables a perception of the parks’ relevance to the economic development.

<p class="0abstract">Empirical research methods were used to study the Thailand Talent Mobility Programme and critical factors effecting participation in the project; from the perspectives of academic researchers in Science, Technology, and Innovation, in order to strengthen the competitiveness of technological innovation in Thailand. On the basis of questionnaire surveys of 58 universities and 17 research institutes, 613 academic researchers across the country responded the survey. All responses were analyzed through factor analysis and regression analysis methods. We conducted a thorough study of the impact of all factors to successful programme participation. This research study also identifies recommendations and solutions for successful personnel sharing models in Thailand. A mobile web for innovative university assessment system is also introduced as a supporting tool.</p>
