Fungal samples were collected in the Sangay (SP) and Llanganates (LP) National Parks in Ecuador. Sequences of the internal transcribed spacer regions (ITS1-5.8S-ITS2) of the ribosomal DNA of the samples were analyzed.Taxonomic identification of fungi of the order Xylariales was done through phylogenetic analysis using a Maximun Likelihood method. All analyzed collections presented here belong to the genus Xylaria, of these eight belong to PL and two to SP. Four samples were not identified at the species level, suggesting it could be a new species. This data contributes with base information on the biodiversity of the Parks, necessary to design and implement measures for the conservation of fungi in Ecuador.

In the present study fungi collections were sampled in the Sangay (SP) and Llanganates (LP) National Parks, from which sequences of the regions of the internal transcribable spacer (ITS1-5.8S-ITS2) of the ribosomal DNA were obtained (RDNA). The taxonomic identification of fungi of the order Xylariales was achieved with the bioinformatic tools, to further study the phylogenetic relationships among the collected individuals and thus contribute with base information on their biological diversity, necessary to design and implement measures for the conservation of fungi. All records belong to the genus Xylaria, of these eight belong to PL and two to SP. A record was not identified at the species level, suggesting that it could be a new species. A phylogenetic tree of Maximum Likelihood was built.

A new species from Tibet, Pholiota linzhiensis, is proposed. Pholiota linzhiensis is recognized by its pileus covered with radially appressed fibrillose squamules, stipe with subfloccose to recurved scales; yellow and thick-walled pleurocystidia, as well as oblong basidiospores. The species is described and illustrated, and a phylogenetic analysis of internal transcribed spacer nuclear ribosomal DNA (ITS) is presented. Both the morphology and the phylogenetic analysis showed that P. linzhiensis belongs to Pholiota subgenus Flammuloides section Lubricae.

A new species Tongoloa arguta (Apiaceae) is described and illustrated in this article. The new species grows in alpine bushes and meadows in south-western China. It resembles T. silaifolia, but differs from the latter by the length of the stem, ultimate segments of leaf and rays of the umbel. Phylogenetic analysis, based on nuclear ribosomal DNA internal transcribed spacer (ITS) sequences, is provided, as well as comparative morphology between related species.

Inocybe pakistanensis is described and illustrated as a new species based on morphological characters and molecular phylogenetic analysis of nuclear ribosomal DNA including the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) regions along with larger subunit (LSU). The distinctive basidiomata have a highly rimose and fibrillose golden brown pileus with a reddish brown, prominent umbo; ellipsoid to amygdaliform, slightly phasoeliform smooth basidiospores; and clamped septa in all the tissues. Molecular phylogenetic analysis supports the placement of I. pakistanensis in section Rimosae s. str.

A new polypore, Ceriporia albomellea, collected from tropical China, is described and illustrated based on morphological characteristics and molecular evidence. It is characterized by thin, resupinate basidiome with a white subiculum, cottony margin, white to cinnamon-buff pores, clavate cystidia and oblong-ellipsoid basidiospores measured as 3.1–3.8 × 1.7–2 µm. Phylogenetic analysis based on the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) regions and nuclear large subunit (nLSU) ribosomal RNA gene regions supported C. albomellea as a distinctive species belonging to Ceriporia.

Acrophialophora liboensis, a new fungus from soil samples in Libo County, Guizhou Province, China, is illustrated and described on the basis of morphological and molecular sequences data. Phylogenetic analysis based on internal transcribed spacer (ITS) and β-tubulin sequences demonstrated that A. liboensis is a distinct species closely related to A. cinerea and A. furcata. Morphologically, A. liboensis is characterized by solitary and lateral phialides tapering into thin necks and long chains of ellipsoidal or oval conidia. The ex-type living culture has been deposited in CGMCC, Beijing City, China.

Peucedanum huangshanense, a new species discovered in Anhui, China, is illustrated and described. Detailed morphological comparisons have showed that it is similar to P. praeruptorum but differs from the latter by having larger compound umbels (5–14 cm across), rays up to 25, and long-ovoid mericarps with lateral ribs narrowly winged. To explore the phylogenetic position of this species, nuclear ribosomal DNA internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region was sequenced for P. huangshanense and P. praeruptorum collected in different places. The morphological and molecular evidences support the hypothesis that P. huangshanense is a new distinct species.

Coltriciella multipileata is described here as a new species from Mexico. The species grow on soils in open areas at the vicinity of living trees of Pinus patula, and its known only from the Parque Recreativo Los Colomos, Jalisco. The phylogenetic analysis based on partial nuclear 28S ribosomal DNA sequences, recovered Coltriciella multipileata as sister group with a specimen reported as ectomycorrhizal, and closely related with other two species that are considered saprophitic. According with our preliminary analysis of character states reconstruction, the ectomycorrhizal condition appeared early in the Coltriciella clade, with a high rate of transitions between ectomycorrhizal and saprophitic conditions. A key for species similar to Coltriciella multipileata is presented.

Infundibulicybe macrospora, a new species, is described and illustrated from the Himalayan moist temperate forests of Pakistan. The new species can be differentiated from close allies by its reddish orange to light orange pileus, whitish lamellae and stipe, and larger and broader basidiospores. The new species is also supported by molecular phylogenetic analysis inferred from internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region.

A new species, Amanita glarea, is described and illustrated from Pakistan. Molecular phylogenetic data derived from internal transcribed spacer (ITS) and nuclear ribosomal large subunit (LSU) regions along with morphological characters make it distinct from other currently known Amanita species. Amanita glarea is characterized by a grayish brown, slightly umbonate, pileus having universal veil remnants and striate margins, a long ringless stipe with a saccate volva bearing yellowish brown patches on the verrucose surface, inamyloid globose to subglobose basidiospores, and a filamentous pileipellis with some inflated round to elongated cells. Phylogenetic analysis of nuclear ribosomal ITS and LSU nucleotide sequences resolve A. glarea with other taxa in Amanita section Vaginatae.
