Resumo. Anthonomus tomentosus (Faust) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) é registrado pela primeira vez na Amazônia Oriental, a partir de frutos de Malpighia emarginata DC. coletados no estado do Amapá, Brasil. Neste trabalho também são apresentados sinas de danos aos frutos e a distribuição geográfica de A. tomentosus no Brasil.First record of Anthonomus tomentosus (Faust) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) in the Eastern AmazonAbstract. Anthonomus tomentosus (Faust) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) is recorded for the first time in the Eastern Amazon, from fruits of Malpighia emarginata DC. collected in the state of Amapá, Brazil. In this work we also present the signals damages on the fruits and the geographical distribution of A. tomentosus in Brazil.

INTRODUCTION: This paper reports, for the first time, the presence of the Eratyrus mucronatus species in the State of Rondonia, Brazil. METHODS: These specimens were caught by chance in the forest and later they were collected using luminous traps. RESULTS: After finding these specimens, the number of the Triatominae genera in Rondonia rose to four, while its species rose to seven. CONCLUSIONS: Complimentary studies will be conducted in order to allow for clearer understanding the ecology of this arthropod, its possible role in transmitting Chagas' disease and its current geographical distribution.

Order Ceratiomyxales, which belongs to subclass Ceratiomyxomycetidae, includes the exospore bearing Myxomycetes, solely comprising family Ceratiomyxaceae and genus Ceratiomyxa, with four species. Based on the literature, on herbarium collections, and on recent surveys carried out by the authors in different states and ecosystems, it was possible to determine the occurrence and distribution of C. fruticulosa (cosmopolitan),C. morchella and C. sphaerosperma (predominantly tropical or subtropical) in northeastern Brazil. Species descriptions and illustrations are presented, as well as a map of their geographical distribution in eight of the nine states of Northeast Brazil. This order is being recorded for the first time for the state of Sergipe. Ceratiomyxa morchella and C. sphaerosperma are being cited for the first time for the state of Paraíba.

Twenty six species of Scaphopoda, included in 12 genera and five families were identified. Within these, Fustiaria stenoschiza (Pilsbry & Sharp, 1897), Gadila pocula n.comb. (Dall, 1889); G. simpsoni n.comb. (Henderson, 1920) and G. pandionis (Verril & Smith in Verril, 1880) are recorded for the first time for Brazil and two new species of the genus Cadulus are here described. Besides that, six species previously recorded from north and northeast Brazil have their geographical range expanded southward: Antalis circumcincta (Watson, 1879), Episiphon didymum (Watson, 1879), Ep. sowerbyi (Guilding, 1834), Entalina platamodes (Watson, 1879), Gadila dominguensis (Orbigny, 1853) and Compressidens pressum (Pilsbry & Sharp, 1897). In the other hand, Paradentalium infractum n.comb. (Odhner, 1931) has its geographical distribution extended northward to the state of Maranhão (02ºS). Gadila acus (Dall, 1889) is proposed as junior synonym of G. dominguensis (Orbigny, 1853).

Desmoncus leptoclonos Drude is recorded for the first time for the state of São Paulo, Brazil. Based on this new record, the geographical distribution of Desmoncus Mart. for Brazil is expanded. An identification key to climbing species of Brazilian Desmoncus, a description, a map of geographic distribution, photographs, and comments concerning Desmoncus leptoclonos are provided.

Abstract. Here, by the first time, was quantified the predation of seeds of Protium ovatum Engl. (Burseraceae) by Bracon zuleideae Perioto & Lara (Hymenoptera, Braconidae), a phytophagous seed eater, in Parque Nacional Grande Sertão Veredas, located in the State of Minas Gerais, Brazil. B. zuleideae is now mentioned for the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, which extends its geographical distribution about 900 km north of its type locality, its only previous record, and new data about host plant phenology are provided.Bracon zuleideae Perioto & Lara (Hymenoptera, Braconidae): potencial de predação de sementes, expansão da distribuição geográfica e novos dados de fenologia da planta hospedeiraResumo. A predação de sementes de Protium ovatum Engl. A distribuição geográfica de B. zuleideae é estendida para o Estado de Minas Gerais, Brasil, a cerca de 900 km ao norte da localidade tipo, o único registro anterior, e novos dados sobre a fenologia da planta hospedeira são fornecidos.

Abstract It is recorded for the first time in the state of Rio Grande do Sul the occurrence of Scobina melanocephala (Lepeletier, 1823), Scobina thoracica (Jorgensen, 1913) and Scobina poeciloides (Ashmead, 1895), being this last the first record for Brazil. Scobina melanopyga (Klug, 1834) and Scobina torquata (Konow, 1903) were also found in the study. The analyzed material was collected utilizing Malaise traps in tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L.) fields and is deposited at the Entomological Collection of Santa Cruz do Sul.

As a result of botanical explorations carried out in the seasonally dry forests and shrub-lands of the eastern end of the Araya Peninsula, state of Sucre, Venezuela, the presence of Psidium schenckianum Kiaersk. is reported for the first time for Venezuela and Psidium appendiculatum Kiaersk. for the first time for Sucre. Due to the current degradation of these wild ecosystems in the peninsula and the state in general, there is an urgent need to conduct rigorous surveys that provide more information on the geographical distribution of these and other species yet to be discovered.

Abstract Aiming to increase the knowledge concerning the canga vegetation of the Serra dos Carajás, a taxonomic treatment of the Piperaceae species was prepared. Thirty species were recorded for the region, of which 20 taxa were found growing on canga substrate (ferruginous rupicolous vegetation). The majority of the species studied belong to Piper (23 species). The first record of P. goeldii for the state of Pará is presented, while the fruit of P. pellitum is described for the first time. Two out of seven Peperomia species studied - P. albopilosa and P. pseudoserratirhachis are described as new. Identification keys, detailed descriptions, geographical distribution and comments for taxa, besides illustrations of those poorly known or that are reported for the first time in the region, are provided.

Abstract: This work presents the taxonomic study of the native species of Bombacoideae Burnett (Malvaceae) in the state of Paraíba, Northeastern Brazil. The taxonomic treatment included keys for identifying genera and species, morphological descriptions, diagnostic illustrations, comments on taxonomic affinities, and additional information on geographical distribution, habitat, and flowering and fruiting of the species. Three genera and six species were recorded: Ceiba Mill., represented by C. glaziovii (Kuntze) K. Schum., is a new record for the Atlantic Forest; Eriotheca Schott & Endl., represented by E. gracilipes (K. Schum.) A. Robyns and E. macrophylla (K. Schum.) A. Robyns, is a new record for Paraíba; and Pseudobombax Dugand, which is represented by P. marginatum (A.St.-Hil., Juss. & Cambess.) A. Robyns, P. parvifolium Carv.-Sobr. & L.P. Queiroz and P. simplicifolium A. Robyns Robyns - the last one registered for the first time in Paraíba in this study.

The Russet-winged Spadebill Platyrinchus leucoryphus Wied, 1831 is a passerine threatened by extinction. Its geographical distribution encompasses the Atlantic Forest of southeastern and southern Brazil, eastern Paraguay, and Misiones province in Argentina. In this note, we document the species for the first time in the state of Bahia (Brazil), extending its known distribution by 440 km northward.
