An Iterative algorithm for $\eta$-(anti)-Hermitian least-squares solutions of quaternion matrix equations

Recently, some research has been devoted to finding the explicit forms of the η-Hermitian and η-anti-Hermitian solutions of several kinds of quaternion matrix equations and their associated least-squares problems in the literature. Although exploiting iterative algorithms is superior than utilizing the explicit forms in application, hitherto, an iterative approach has not been offered for finding η-(anti)-Hermitian solutions of quaternion matrix equations. The current paper deals with applying an efficient iterative manner for determining η-Hermitian and η-anti-Hermitian least-squares solutions corresponding to the quaternion matrix equation AXB + CY D = E. More precisely, first, this paper establishes some properties of the η-Hermitian and η-anti-Hermitian matrices. These properties allow for the demonstration of how the well-known conjugate gradient least- squares (CGLS) method can be developed for solving the mentioned problem over the η-Hermitian and η-anti-Hermitian matrices. In addition, the convergence properties of the proposed algorithm are discussed with details. In the circumstance that the coefficient matrices are ill-conditioned, it is suggested to use a preconditioner for accelerating the convergence behavior of the algorithm. Numerical experiments are reported to reveal the validity of the elaborated results and feasibility of the proposed iterative algorithm and its preconditioned version.

This paper deals with developing a robust iterative algorithm to find the least-squares ( P, Q)-orthogonal symmetric and skew-symmetric solution sets of the generalized coupled matrix equations. To this end, first, some properties of these type of matrices are established. Furthermore, an approach is offered to determine the optimal approximate ( P, Q)-orthogonal (skew-)symmetric solution pair corresponding to a given arbitrary matrix pair. Some numerical experiments are reported to confirm the validity of the theoretical results and to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

A hierarchical gradient based iterative algorithm of [L. Xie et al., Computers and Mathematics with Applications 58 (2009) 1441-1448] has been presented for finding the numerical solution for general linear matrix equations, and the convergent factor has been discussed by numerical experiments. However, they pointed out that how to choose a best convergence factor is still a project to be studied. In this paper, we discussed the optimal convergent factor for the gradient based iterative algorithm and obtained the optimal convergent factor. Moreover, the theoretical results of this paper can be extended to other methods of gradient-type based. Results of numerical experiments are consistent with the theoretical findings.

In this paper, we investigate the normwise, mixed and componentwise condition numbers of the least squares problem min X?Rnxd ||X - B||F, where A ? Rmxn is a rank-deficient matrix and B ? Rmxd. The closed formulas or upper bounds for these condition numbers are presented, which extend the earlier work for the least squares problem with single right-hand side (i.e. B ? b is an m-vector) of several authors. Numerical experiments are given to confirm our results.

This paper presents a new iterative algorithm for approximating the fixed points of multivalued generalized \(\alpha\)–nonexpansive mappings. We study the stability result of our new iterative algorithm for a larger concept of stability known as weak \(w^2\)–stability. Weak and strong convergence results of the proposed iterative algorithm are also established. Furthermore, we show numerically that our new iterative algorithm outperforms several known iterative algorithms for multivalued generalized \(\alpha\)–nonexpansive mappings. Again, as an application, we use our proposed iterative algorithm to find the solution of nonlinear Volterra delay integro-differential equations. Finally, we provide an illustrative example to validate the mild conditions used in the result of the application part of this study. Our results improve, generalize and unify several results in the existing literature.

In this paper, we consider the least squares ?-Hermitian problems of quaternion matrix equation AHXA+ BHYB = C by using the complex representation of quaternion matrices, the Moore-Penrose generalized inverse and the Kronecker product of matrices. We derive the expressions of the least squares solution with the least norm of quaternion matrix equation AHXA + BHYB = C over [X,Y] ? ?HQnxn x ?HQkxk, [X,Y] ? ?AQnxn x ?AQkxk, and [X,Y] ? ?HQnxn x ?AQkxk, respectively.
