Methods of extrusion are widely used in technology of thermoelectric (TE) materials manufacturing with high strength and good TE properties at temperatures above 200 K. The method of extrusion of Bi - Sb single crystals in the liquid environment under high hydrostatic pressure is considered. The construction of experimental equipment is presented. It was shown that presented method of extrusion allows preparing of polycrystalline material with high TE and improved strength properties at temperatures below 180 K.

Single crystals of potassium hydrogen phthalate (KAP) are grown by solution growth technique. Linear optical constants are evaluated from UV/VIS/NIR spectrum. The Z scan technique is used to elucidate the third order nonlinearity in the material. The results indicate that the compound exhibits reverse saturable absorption (RSA) and self-defocusing performance. The second harmonic generation (SHG) efficiency of the crystal evaluated by Kurtz and Perry technique is compared with that of the standard KDP crystal. Attempt is made to correlate the SHG efficiency with the crystalline perfection in the material. AbstractAs a result of low-temperature aging at 573 K for 1.5 h of Ti–50.6 at% Ni [001]-oriented single crystals quenched from 1253 K, a high-strength state is obtained due to the precipitation of Ti_3Ni_4 nanoscale particles ( d < 10 nm). The aging leads to the development of the B 2– B 19' martensitic transformation through an intermediate R phase, a reduction in the B 19' martensite formation temperatures by 40–60 K, an increase in the strength properties of the B 2 phase from 730 to 2100 MPa, and an extension of the superelasticity interval Δ T _SE in compression from Δ T _SE = 60 to 170 K (compared to quenched crystals).
