Abstract Paper presents the research of austenitic steel AISI 304 after ion nitriding at 400°C and at t =4h, for the two different variants of samples distribution in the working plasma reactive chamber tube. In order to assess the effectiveness of ion nitriding variants emission spectroscopy – GDOES, surface hardness tests, microstructure research (LM) of nitrided layers were made. It has been found that the use of active screens increases the surface layer thickness and depth of nitrogen diffusion into austenitic steel 304.

An attempt was made to study the hot corrosion behavior on gas tungeten arc welded Austenitic stainless steel AISI 304 and Nickel-copper alloy Monel 400. These materials are widely used in power plant, petro-chemical and marine applications where the weldments are usually subjected to aggressive corrosion environment. GTA welding was carried out using ENiCu-7 and E308L filler wires. Various regions of the weldment of AISI 304, Monel 400 were exposed to the air oxidation as well as in the molten salt environment consist of K2SO4 + NaCl (60%) at 700°C. Mechanical properties of the weldments were also studied. The corrosion products of the weldments were analyzed using SEM/EDAX, XRD analysis.

The article analyzes the influence of technological parameters on the properties of welded joints by welding AISI 304 steel. In order to get the results was carried out computer modeling with the finite element modeling program ANSYS, welded samples performed visual inspection, hardness testing to make a seam. Results of the study are presented in tabular and graphic representation, the conclusions.
