<p>A poorly known species of pirate spider belonging to a monotypic genus, <em>Ermetus inopinabilis </em>Ponomarev, 2008, is redescribed in details based on types and other material. Digital photographs and SEM micrographs are provided to illustrate its specific features. The species and genus are reported for the first time from Altai and Tuva.</p><p> </p>

Two new species of Apteroscelio Kieffer, a previously monotypic genus, are here described, illustrated and keyed. Affinities between Apteroscelio and other scelionine genera are discussed. The male of this genus is imaged and described for the first time.

A new monotypic genus, Franciscodendron B. Hyland & Steenis is described for the first time, based on Sterculia laurifolia F. Muell. A comparison with nine genera of the tribe Sterculieae indicates that Franciscodendron has its closest relationship with Hildegardia.

The Asian monotypic genus Pararhabdophis Bourret, 1934 has long been known from a single holotype of the type species Pararhabdophis chapaensis Bourret, 1934 only. The limited available information hampered the identification of the natricine species. On the basis of eight newly collected specimens of P. chapaensis from the type locality in Sa Pa, Lao Cai Province, Vietnam and from Pingbian, Yunnan Province in southwestern China, the taxonomic position of the genus Pararhabdophis was re-evaluated using both morphological and molecular datasets for the first time. Pararhabdophis chapaensis is nested within the genus Hebius Thompson, 1913 with strong support, and morphologically indistinguishable from the latter genus. As a consequence, we herein synonymize the genus Pararhabdophis with Hebius and discuss about the existing paraphyly of some Hebius species. In addition we report Hebius chapaensis for the first time from China and provide redescription and natural history data of this poorly known species. To facilitate future taxonomic work, an identification key to all known natricine genera from China and Vietnam is also provided.

Two genera of the shore-fly tribe Hyadinini, Hyadina Haliday and Parahyadina Tonnoir & Malloch, are revised, and all species treated, save P. lacustris Tonnoir & Malloch, are described for the first time. The phylogenetic position of both genera within Hyadinini is presented along with confirming, morphological evidence. The New Zealand fauna of Hyadina is now limited to the single new species H. breva, and Parahyadina is expanded from being a monotypic genus based on P. lacustris to also include the following 9 endemic new species: P. angusta, P. atra, P. bifurcata, P. bulla, P. debilis, P. edmistoni, P. hennigi, P. irwini, and P. latistylis. For both genera, emphasis is given to structures of the male terminalia, which are fully illustrated. Detailed locality data and distribution maps for all species are provided, and structures of the male terminalia are fully illustrated. For perspective and to facilitate recognition of genera, the tribe Hyadinini is diagnosed and a key to genera from New Zealand is provided.

Foliar flavonoids of Nipponanthemum, which is a monotypic genus and consists of only one Japanese endemic species, N. nipponicum, were isolated for the first time. Fifteen flavonoids, i.e. six glycosides, quercetin 3,7-di- O-glucoside, vicenin-2, quercetin 3- O-glucoside, luteolin 7- O-glucoside, kaempferol 3- O-glucoside and apigenin 7- O-glucoside, and nine aglycones, luteolin, nepetin, quercetin 3-methyl ether, axillarin, apigenin, hispidulin, chrysoeriol, jaceosidin and sudachitin were identified. Of these compounds, the flavonoid aglycones existed on the leaf surface.

Eight specimens from the Middle Devonian Purcell Member of the Millboro Shale Formation in southwestern Virginia conform to a recent definition of the previously monotypic genus Arachnoxylon. The new material provides supplementary information on several tissue regions of the main axis, including evidence on variability in the structure of the protoxylem, and on departure of the large, or "major" traces. In addition, evidence is provided here for the first time on a discrete region, immediately adjacent to the primary xylem, containing probable conducting elements of the primary phloem, on the structure of the epidermis, and on the presence of multicellular superficial emergences. Although clearly assignable to Arachnoxylon, all but one of our specimens vary significantly from previous specimens in the genus in several features which may be interpreted as relating directly or indirectly to size. It is possible that all specimens in Arachnoxylon represent portions of a single kind of plant. However, organic connection between the large and small forms has not been demonstrated. We elect, therefore, to establish A. minor sp. n. for the smaller specimens.

The monotypic genus Corinnella Thomas & Dominique, 2006, was described based on nymphs from French Guyana, and since the original description nothing has been added to knowledge of its systematics. The aim of the present paper is to describe a new species of the genus from Northern Brazil, to improve its diagnoses, and to report the genus for the first time from Brazil. The new species can be recognized by: labrum with discernible anteromedial emargination and process; posterior margin of terga IV with rounded spines; and tarsal claw with seven to nine denticles, with the outer and inner denticles distinctly longer than the others.

Abstract The species composition of nematodes found at autopsy of abomasa and small intestines of 24 Mongolian gazelles in Eastern Mongolia is studied. Orloffia bisonis, Marshallagia mongolica, Nematodirus archari, N. andreevi, Trichostrongylus colubriformis, T. probolurus were registered. N. archari and N. andreevi were detected in Mongolian gazelle for the first time. All species of gastrointestinal nematodes found in Mongolian gazelles have already been registered in domestic ruminants of Mongolia. The validity of Orloffia genus is confirmed based on our own observations and literature data. Orloffia is monotypic genus with the only species O. bisonis represented by two morphs where “O. bisonis” is major and “O. kasakhstanica” is minor.

The monotypic genus Nyleta was described by Dodd from Australia in 1926, with Nyleta striaticeps Dodd as the type species. A new species of Nyleta is now described and imaged from the remote island of Little Andaman in the Andaman and Nicobar group of Islands in the Indian Ocean. Variants of the same species were also collected from Tamil Nadu. The images of the holotype of N. striaticeps are also provided for the first time.

The monotypic genus Pentaneurella Fittkau &amp; Murray was originally described based on larvae, pupal exuviae and pharate males. The latter prevented the observation of key features, such as wing dimensions, abdominal coloration pattern, and hypopygial apodemes (sternapodeme and phallapodeme), and the description of the adult male was considered incomplete by the authors. Herein, the adult female of Pentaneurellakatterjokki is described for the first time, and the adult male, pupa and larva are redescribed and figured based on specimens recently collected in Germany and Norway. We also discuss the phylogenetic position of Pentaneurella.
