Bibimys is a genus still poorly known in its basic aspects, such as systematics, natural history and geographic distribution. In Brazil, only Bibimys labiosus is recorded, with occasional records spread in time and space. This paper presents four new localities of the species in Araucaria Forest, Paraná state, extending its distribution 150 km southwards. Additionally, a map of the known distribution of the species in Brazil and in Araucaria Forest is provided. The records point toward the lack of knowledge about basic aspects of the small non-flying mammal fauna in the plateau regions of Brazil.

In the present study we report new records of the anurans Hypsiboas curupi, Scinax littoralis, Dendropsophus elegans, and Crossodactylus schmidti for the state of Santa Catarina. These records expand the geographic distribution currently known for these species and contribute for the knowledge of the southern Brazilian anuran fauna.

A new diagnosis for the genus Stenoterommata Holmberg, 1881 is presented and six new species are described from Santa Catarina state, southern Brazil: S. pavesii sp. nov. and S. leticiae sp. nov. from Blumenau and Balneário Camboriú; S. sevegnaniae sp. nov. from Blumenau; S. gugai sp. nov., S. peri sp. nov. and S. pescador sp. nov. from Santa Catarina Island, Florianópolis. New records of S. palmar Goloboff, 1995 from southern Brazil are provided. Information on the natural history and habitat are included for all the species. In addition, Hermacha iricolor Mello-Leitão, 1923, described from Blumenau, is transferred to Rachias Simon, 1892.

There is a lack of knowledge regarding Lepidoptera species in altitudinal grassland areas, especially in the state of Santa Catarina, in southern Brazil. Here we report some records of Vanessa braziliensis (Moore, 1883) and Urbanus zagorus (Plötz, 1880) in high altitude areas. We have likely registered both the first record of U. zagorus for the state of Santa Catarina and the highest altitudinal record of V. braziliensis in Brazil.

During surveys of anurans in the Chapada Diamantina, a semiarid region in central Bahia, Brazil, we obtained new records of Strabomantis aramunha Cassimiro, Verdade and Rodrigues. The new records extend the geographic distribution of S. aramunha in about 200 km north and 75 km south in relation to the type locality (municipality of Mucugê, state of Bahia, Brazil). We observed males calling at night at the Morro do Pai Inácio, municipality of Palmeiras. This new data is important, as in the original description the authors suggested the possibility of absence of advertisement call in the species. We also provide additions on color and morphometric data.

The two endemic, endangered species, Bacch­aris hypericifolia (Asteraceae) and Hypericum salvadorense (Hypericaceae), were known only for the Rio Grande do Sul state, in Brazil. In this paper we report two new occurrences of these species in Santa Catarina, expanding their geographic distribution to the north. Baccharis hypericyfolia and H. salvadorense were collected in areas of PPBio (Programa de Pesquisa em Biodiversidade) project. These novelties evidence the presence of knowledge gaps regarding the flora and little collecting effort in the grasslands from Southern Brazil.

This article provides new records to Acratossaura mentalis of two new localities from the state of Sergipe, northeast Brazil. These records extend the geographical distribution of specie for municipalities from Poço Redondo and Itabaiana. Possibly, these points are the first records of A. mentalis for the state of Sergipe.

AbstractCoprinellus deminutus is a very rare species that is known only from three localities in Europe. This paper presents new records of the species in Russia (two new localities in the protected areas of Orenburg Region, the European part of Russia). It expands this species geographic distribution to the Urals. A description of the species and its habitats is provided.

Clitocybula lignicola is predominantly distributed in the Asian part of Russia. In Europe it was found only in the Urals (Komi Republic, Russia). Two new localities are situated in the northwestern part of Vologda Region (Russia). These are the first records of this species from the East European Plain, as well as the most western ones known in Europe. New records extend the geographic distribution of C. lignicola 1,204 km west of the closest site in the Urals. An updated distribution map for the species is presented and a detailed species description with illustrations based on studied collections is provided.

Seven specimens of Lolliguncula (Lolliguncula) argus, were collected in the shrimp fisheries of the Gulf of California and five specimens from the western coast of Baja California Peninsula, deposited in the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History (USA), are examined and reported. These records expand species geographic distribution range for approximately 950 km and report the maximum size of mantle length 38.8 mm for males and 60.8 mm for females. Morphometric data of the 12 collected specimens are presented, and species funnel organ and statoliths are described.

Carnivores typically exhibit cryptic behavior, which makes it difficult to study the ecology of species in this group. Camera trap bycatch can be a valuable source of important opportunistic records. In this short communication, we present rare records of carnivores in southern Brazil. The first record was of a tayra (Mustelidae) with anomalous coloration known as leucism. Other records were of a possible attempted predation event by two free-ranging dogs on lowland tapir (Perissodactyla, Tapiridae), a threatened species. Our remaining notable records consisted of intra and interspecific interactions of endangered felids (puma, ocelot and southern tiger cat).
