This paper provides the first record of Esch­weilera compressa (Lecythidaceae) in Espírito Santo state, Brazil. According to IUCN criteria and the Brazilian government, this species is assigned as Critically Endangered globally and Endangered nationally, respectively. Herein, E. compressa is regionally assigned as Critically Endangered in Espírito Santo, Brazil, which is justified by urban expansion, a small area of occupancy, as well as its occurrence outside protected areas. A brief description, distribution map, and images of the species are presented.

Gonatopus mariae Martins, Lara, Perioto & Olmi, 2015, described from the state of São Paulo, is recorded for the first time in the state of Espírito Santo, Brazil, representing the first record of the genus and species from the state. The specimen was collected with a Malaise Dossel trap and deposited at the Entomological Collection of the Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo (Brazil). A diagnosis and illustration of this species are presented  demonstrating morphological variation of the type material. A distribution map is also provided. Gonatopus mariae is a rare species and its distribution is probably restricted to the southeastern region of Brazil.

Scinax tripui is a medium sized frog that belongs to the Scinax catharinae clade. We provide a new record of Scinax tripui from Serra de Torres, Espírito Santo state, southeastern Brazil. This is the first record outside the specie’s type locality (Ouro Preto, Minas Gerais) and the first record from the state of Espírito Santo.

Herein is reported the first record of Trechona venosa (Araneae, Dipluridae) for the state of Minas Gerais. The previous records are restricted to a maximum range of about 50 km from the Atlantic Ocean coast, in the states of Rio de Janeiro and Espírito Santo. The new record extends the species distribution to 200 km far from coast.

The terebrid gastropod Hastula hastata (Gmelin, 1791) is reported for the first time from Trindade Island, off southeastern Brazil. The new record extends the known geographic range of the species ca. 1,167 km eastward from Vitória, Espírito Santo state.

We present the first record of Lygophis meridionalis for the state of Espírito Santo, in southeastern Brazil, and a distribution map based on indexed literature. This species of the family Dipsadidae is widely distributed in South America, although records from Brazil are only available for the states of São Paulo, Amazonas, Pará, Goiás, Tocantins, and Bahia. Our report is only the second record of L. meridionalis from the Atlantic Forest and represents a range extension of 998 km from the nearest record in this biome.

We provide the first record of Leptodactylus cupreus out of its type locality, as well the first record of this species in the State of Espírito Santo, southeastern Brazil. The record of Leptodactylus cupreus from municipality Santa Teresa extends in approximately 220 km to the northeastern of its geographic distribution and establishes the inferior limit of 800 m in its altitudinal distribution in the Serra da Mantiqueira.
