This study presents the first records of Typhlops amoipira to the Brazilian Atlantic Forest biome and expands its geographic distribution up to 1033 km northward of the type locality. The record for Piaçabuçu, state of Alagoas, can be justified by contact with the dunes of the São Francisco River. However, although dunes and restinga are present in other locations such as Nísia Floresta and Atlantic Forest areas in the municipalities of Coruripe and São José da Laje, Alagoas, they do not come into contact with dunes along the São Francisco River.

Herein we report the first records of the treefrog Dendropsophus haddadi from the state of Alagoas, northeastern Brazil, and an updated distribution map for this species. All records are restricted to the Atlantic Forest biome. A brief comment on color pattern for the species is also presented.

The Passalidae fauna is poorly known in the southeasternof Brazil, a region with Atlantic Forest thatincludes typical tropical phyto-physiognomies of the Brasilian coast, with distinctive geology and geography. This is the first study in seven areas of conservation of the Atlantic Forest of Southeastern Brazil, and intends to list the species of Passalinae. Actually, the diversity of Passalidae fauna from southeastern of Brazil increase to 44 species, of which 30 were collected and are accurately recorded in remnants of Atlantic Forest biome. Passalus (Pertinax) convexus Dalman, 1817, Passalus (Passalus) denticollis Kaup, 1869 and Passalus (Passalus) punctiger Lepeletier & Serville, 1825 were the most abundant, representing over 49% of individuals. Passalus (Pertinax) convexus is one of the most typical species from the Atlantic Forest biome in the Southeast. Based on a large sample of material examined from several institutions, we found 25 new locations, 11 new records for the states of Brazil and seven records to other countries in South America, promoting additions to the distribution of species in Southeast Brazil. Passalus nasutus Percheron, 1835 have new unambiguous comemmts to elucidate Passalus (Passalus) curtus Kaup, 1869, where the former species is restricted to Brazil and the latter is restricted to Colombia.

Coimbra-Filho’s titi monkey, Callicebus coimbrai Kobayashi and Langguth, 1999, appears to be endemic to the northern Atlantic Forest, south of the lower São Francisco River in east of the state of Sergipe and north-east of the state of Bahia. This study presents 13 new records of the occurrence of the species in the São Francisco and Japaratuba basins of eastern Sergipe, extending its range in the state over a distance of some 40 km. This represents an important advance in the known range and total number of populations of this endangered primate.

Enyalius bibronii Boulenger, 1885 is a Neotropical lizard registered in seven northeastern Brazilian states; in this paper we present the first record of Enyalius bibronii for the state of Alagoas, Brazil, and a distribution map for this species. These records fill the gaps of the geographical distribution of E. bibronii, in the north region of the São Francisco River in Brazil.

Sarcoglanidinae and Glanapteryginae catfishes are among the most unusual elements of the Neotropical freshwater fish fauna. Microcambeva ribeirae, M. barbata and M. draco are miniaturized Sarcoglanidinae known to occur in sandy microhabitats in drainages of the Brazilian Atlantic Forest. Due to their specific habitats, specimens of Microcambeva are rare in fish collections, and new records are considered noteworthy to warrant report. Recently, specimens of this genus were newly found in the Rio Doce basin in Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo States. Such new records expand the known geographic distribution of Microcambeva. Further records of Microcambeva for Rio Peruípe in south Bahia State are also reported. Comments on the distribution of Microcambeva species along the Atlantic Forest coastal basins and suggestions on its conservation status are also offered.

Herein, we provide a new record of Cercosaura ocellata Wagler, 1830 in the Atlantic Forest biome, northeastern Brazil, and a distribution map for the species in South America. The new record was in Extremoz municipality, state of Rio Grande do Norte, filling a gap in the known geographic distribution of the species between the states of Ceará and Pernambuco.

We report new records of Fritziana ulei (Miranda-Ribeiro, 1926) from Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo states, Brazil, extending the geographic distribution of this species south from its previously known range. The new records are from areas of marshland in the Atlantic Forest biome and are about 480 m lower in altitude than all previously known occurrences.

We provide records for Micrablepharus maximiliani from state of Minas Gerais and present a map representing its distribution. The record of M. maximiliani from municipality of Resplendor, Minas Gerais, represents a distribution extension of 1,050 km southern from the type locality at the municipality of Maruim, Sergipe. Others 57 new records are presented based on specimens housed in several Brazilian and Paraguayan herpetological collections, improving the knowledge on geographic distribution of M. maximiliani in South America.
