Coimbra-Filho’s titi monkey, Callicebus coimbrai Kobayashi and Langguth, 1999, appears to be endemic to the northern Atlantic Forest, south of the lower São Francisco River in east of the state of Sergipe and north-east of the state of Bahia. This study presents 13 new records of the occurrence of the species in the São Francisco and Japaratuba basins of eastern Sergipe, extending its range in the state over a distance of some 40 km. This represents an important advance in the known range and total number of populations of this endangered primate.

<p style="text-align: justify;">Novos registros do raro ascalafídeo <em>Albardia furcata</em> van der Weele, 1903 são fornecidos para o estado da Paraíba, na Caatinga e Mata Atlântica, incluindo quatro novas localidades. Um mapa referencial está incluído para os espécimes registrados. O primeiro relato da mosca predadora <em>Peckia</em> (<em>Sarcodexia</em>) <em>lambens</em> (Wiedemann, 1830) em indivíduos mortos de <em>A. furcata</em> é registrado.</p><p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Palavras chave</strong>: Ascalafídeo, Caatinga, Mata Atlântica, Sarcophagidae.</p><p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Abstract</strong>: New records of the rare owlfly <em>Albardia furcata</em> van der Weele, 1903 are provided from the state of Paraiba, in the Caatinga and Atlantic Forest, including four new localities. A referential map is included to the recorded specimens. The first report of the predator fly <em>Peckia</em> (<em>Sarcodexia</em>) <em>lambens</em> (Wiedemann, 1830) on dead body of <em>A. furcata</em> is registered.</p><p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Key words</strong>: Atlantic Forest, Caatinga, owlfly, Sarcophagidae.</p>

This study presents the first records of Typhlops amoipira to the Brazilian Atlantic Forest biome and expands its geographic distribution up to 1033 km northward of the type locality. The record for Piaçabuçu, state of Alagoas, can be justified by contact with the dunes of the São Francisco River. However, although dunes and restinga are present in other locations such as Nísia Floresta and Atlantic Forest areas in the municipalities of Coruripe and São José da Laje, Alagoas, they do not come into contact with dunes along the São Francisco River.

This article provides new records to Ceratophrys joazeirensis of two new localities from the state of Sergipe, northeast Brazil. These records extend the geographical distribution of the species for municipalities from Poço Redondo and Canindé do São Franscisco. These points are the first records of Ceratophrys joazeirensis for the State of Sergipe.

The Bromeliaceae Flora for the state of Rio Grande do Norte, Northeastern Brazil, is presented, based on extensive fieldwork, morphological analyses using herbarium and freshly collected material, and specialized literature. Twenty-six species of bromeliads were recorded in Rio Grande do Norte, distributed in ten genera and in three subfamilies. Bromelioideae was the richest subfamily (eight genera/14 species), followed by Tillandsioideae (one genus/12 species), and Pitcairnioideae (one genus/one species). Aechmea mertensii, Hohenbergia horrida and Tillandsia tenuifolia are new records for Rio Grande do Norte. Eight species (31%) are restricted to the Eastern portion of the state, in the Atlantic Forest. Caatinga dry woodlands harbor 18 species, with remarkable presence of Bromelia laciniosa, Encholirium spectabile, Tillandsia recurvata and T. streptocarpa, the four most widely distributed taxa. We discuss problems related to unclear taxonomic circumscriptions of species or diverging information between authors, more expressively in Hohenbergia, but also in Aechmea, Cryptanthus and Tillandsia. The data presented here might contribute to better understand the morphological variation of these taxa and suggest additional research on their taxonomy. Morphological descriptions, general comments, a map, photo plates and an identification key for all taxa are provided.

Tantilla boipiranga is a rare vulnerable snake found in the Atlantic Forest, distributed in the phytophysiognomy of rocky grasslands (campos rupestres), in southeastern Brazil. Here, we update the known geographic range of the species to eight new localities in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, extending its distribution approximately 400 km northwards to the municipality of Almenara, from the previous northernmost record, and 703 km from the type locality.

Abstract Senna comprises about 350 species worldwide, of which 80 species occur in Brazil. This work brings an update taxonomic treatment of Senna species in the state of Minas Gerais, the second most diverse state for the genus, through the morphological analysis of about 2,348 specimens from herbaria and fieldwork. Thirty-six species and 29 varieties were recognized, including 34 native species and 2 cultivated species. Of the 39 species reported in literature for the state, but 4 species were excluded from the list produced. The occurrence of Senna acuruensis was confirmed; S. macranthera var. striata and S. pilifera var. tubata are new records, and S. hirsuta var. acuminata is endemic to Minas Gerais. There are 28 species in the Cerrado, 26 species in the Atlantic Forest and 20 species in the Caatinga. The distribution of Senna pentagonia var. pentagonia is extended to include the Atlantic Forest. Identification keys, descriptions, illustrations, taxonomic comments and geographic distribution are provided for the species and varities.

We present the first record of Ecpleopus gaudichaudi and Psychosaura agmosticha for the state of Bahia, in the Atlantic Forest, Brazil. Ecpleopus gaudichaudi was found in the southernmost portion of the state, in the Restinga de Nova Viçosa, municipality of Nova Viçosa, whereas Psychosaura agmosticha was found in the northernmost portion of the state in the Restinga de Costa Azul, municipality of Jandaíra. This is the first time these lizard species were recorded in restinga habitats, and the first record of P. agmosticha in the Atlantic Forest domains.

Rio Grande do Sul (RS) is the southernmost state in Brazil and includes areas within the Pampa and Atlantic Forest biomes. The semiaquatic bugs (Hemiptera, Heteroptera, Gerromorpha) from RS are poorly known, with only 14 previously recorded species. We carried out two expeditions in this state, in 2002 and 2019, across 19 municipalities. Here, we provide new records for 19 species, of which 13 are recorded for the first time from the state, five have their distributions expanded, and one is recorded again from a same locality previously reported in the literature. Furthermore, 13 species were collected for the first time in the Pampa biome and one in the Atlantic Forest.

The watershed of the São Francisco River is a large complex of headwaters of the Paraguay River, the main river of the Pantanal Matogrossense. Considering that Fabaceae are pointed out as the main family in floristic composition of various Brazilian biomes, however in some regions of Brazil is still little known upon the taxa, particularly in the Northern part of the Central-West, this study aimed to present a list of taxa occurring in the sub-basin of the São Francisco River, municipality of Nova Marilândia, State of Mato Grosso. For the taxa we give information on habit, vegetation, data on geographic distribution, potential use, successional strategy and dispersal syndrome, to subsidize habitat restoration projects. We recorded a total of 44 taxa, belonging to 25 genera. Inga stood out as the main genus in number of species. Among the identified taxa we found eight new records for the State of Mato Grosso: Chamaecrista brevicalyx (Benth.) H. S. Irwin & Barneby var. brevicalyx, Inga alba (Sw.) Willd., I. capitata Desv., I. heterophylla Willd., I. marginata Willd., I. nobilis Willd., Mimosa nitens Benth. and Ormosia coarctata Jacks. Vouchers are kept in the Herbarium UFMT.

We report from three localities four new records of the threatened Brazilian Atlantic Forest endemic Chaetomys subspinosus (Olfers, 1818). These are the first records of this porcupine species from the state of Minas Gerais, and these new data extend the distribution of this species by approximately 220 km to the southwest. As C. subspinosus was observed in areas of transitional vegetation, this species may be found in a much broader spectrum of habitat types than previously thought. We recommend further surveys focusing on documenting this species.
