The effect of composition and growth mechanism on the structure formation and functional properties of TiAlSiYN/MoN nanolayer-thick coating

The processes of structure formation in Ti-Ni and in Ti-Nb-Zr, Ti-Nb-Ta shape memory alloys (SMA) under thermomechanical treatment (TMT) were studied. The TMT comprised cold rolling with true strains from e=0.25 to 2 and post-deformation annealing. Differences in these processes between two groups of alloys are considered. The main conclusions are as follows: nanostructures created by TMT are useful for radical improvement of the SMA functional properties, and an optimum nanostructure (nanocrystalline structure, nanosubgrained structure or theirmixture) should be selected by taking into account other structural and technological factors.

Nanomaterial and its application in textiles are emerging as vast and diverse field due to enhanced functionalized characteristics. This study emphasizes the fabrication of tungsten trioxide nanostructured rods and analyzes its electrostatic and ultraviolet resistance properties. These nanorods are synthesized by hydrothermal method. Through hydrothermal method rod like nanostructures were grown on polyester fabric as it withstands curing temperature easily. The growth mechanism of the film is investigated. Electrostatic analysis of treated polyester fabric was failed but the analysis of seeded solution revealed that it has tunable transmittance modulation under different voltages and repetitive cyclic between the clear and blue states. Ultraviolet resistance of 100% seeded polyester fabric was higher than untreated fabric with respect to increasing concentration of nanorods. Results show that although the seeded solution is perfect, the conductivity of tungsten trioxide cannot be achieved on textiles.

Application of electroplastic deformation (EPD) by rolling to bulk long-sized samples of Ti-50.7 at.%Ni alloy allows increasing of the deformation strain without macrofailure by 1.5 to 3 times in comparison to cold rolling without electrical current application. Structure formation and functional properties were studied after various EPD regimes: current density (84 to 168 А/mm2) and impulse duration (80 and 160 ms). When the stage of mixed nanocrystalline and amorphous structure formation is reached as a result of EPD, a post-deformation annealing at 400 °С leads to a nanocrystalline structure formation in austenite and highest recovery stress values generation by the martensite.
